Can my character complete the personal story?

This is a guess on my part, but it looks like you have the Living Story activated. I think you’ll have to re-activate your personal story instead to play it. You can only have one active at a time

Game Updates: Traits

I’ve finally gotten around to playing a new character to the level at which i can start unlocking traits and find myself wondering why so many of the events and things I need to do are way above my level? It really makes no sense. I’m an older player who knows the game pretty well, but I can imagine that for a newbie this has got to be frustrating. That and the whole execution has a very hurried/generic feel to it with how one event unlocks a trait for every profession.

When I first heard about this change I loved the idea. I pictured it to be events I would complete that were level appropriate and sometimes even profession or trait appropriate. Not anything new. Just use existing events and npcs in the game that would teach us profession specific traits as we help them. Instead it feels like that when they chose events to tie to trait unlocks they just spun a wheel and picked whatever random event popped up. Honestly its not what I expected from Anet with all the things I’ve loved that they have added and continue to add as we go forward.

All my issues don’t even include how slow leveling now feels when i gain multiple levels and don’t gain a trait. And by the way I have no idea when I will gain a trait unless I wiki it. I might even be fine with that if the system wasn’t so bad in the other areas.

I just felt i needed to post this. I love this game overall and this system is embarrassing by the standards Anet have created for themselves. I hope they revamp it soon.

I really think you are blowing it out of proportion. Leveling is relatively fast in this game compared to most other mmo’s and the majority of time spent playing a char is most likely not going to be leveling(assuming they don’t get bored and quit) Now I’m not saying I really like this specific change, but I understand partly why they are doing it.

The base of your point is correct in that leveling will become less rewarding from lvl 11-30, but I honestly never really felt like getting to lvl 15 or even 20 was all that much of a difference being able to assign a couple trait points that didn’t do much anyways.

On the other change in how traits are acquired, I think it is a really great change. This game needs more reasons to see all the beautiful landscapes and events hidden around and this should do that. This is the change that makes the other part much easier to swallow.

Gnashblade's only hope to win the election.

I’ve been a fan of the Guild Wars franchise really ever since the 1st month of Guild Wars Prophecies. I am still very active in GW2, but lately have just been noticing that I’m looking more onto the horizon of what the next big game will be…

1) I was a big fan of the way they kind of tried a different approach than the “trinity” healer/tank/dps thing. I still see the benefit of this, but imo this is why GW2 has developed such a zerg type mentality. I’m not saying to abandon the idea completely, but I think they should look hard into making support a viable and FUN way to play the game.

2) Meta-events: These have become just silly lately. Again, just zerg fests where I log in, watch the timers and hop from event to event just auto-attacking for me free loot basically. I’m not a programmer or anything so I can’t say I know how to fix these. The server seems strained as it is on these(prob due to the fact that you can set your watch to them). This may sound like blasphemy, but add some variables to them or make them much more random so that they can’t be timed so easily. This would make them harder and maybe work as intended?

3) Achievement Points, Glory, and WvW xp. —- In a game like this where a level playing field is created by capping gear stats, etc there NEEDS to be a motive for players to continue beyond level cap. Here is where I think maybe Anet is working on it so I could be saying this for nothing. ’

Leaderboards will hopefully be viewable in game at some point and hopefully eventually will help mean something in the future. Bragging rights are a good reason yes, but a few perks would be nice if you could maybe earn extra a bonus on influence you earn for the guild you represent if you are top 50 or something.

Glory needs more uses since is it what you solely earn in SPvP

I haven’t done as much WvWvW, so I’m not totally sure what could be needed here.

I just had to vent a few things, because although I am still interested I have been hearing of a lot of people losing interest and not really being able to pin down why. Just wanted to offer a few suggestions. I have more, but I noticed some other posts already covered some

I’m not sure if the mystic forge already has this, but a way to change the transmutation stones into fine transmutation stones would be nice. I have the same problem with those stones piling up in my bank

Alliances? Yes please!

This would also help a lot of the smaller guilds along with their bounties so that multiple guilds could organize their bounties together.

I think that Anet has to have some of your other ideas in the works also. At the moment guilds leave a lot to be desired as far as organization goes.

I’ve heard a couple other ideas mentioned before also. One is last login time, or maybe last time they represented could be shown in the guild panel.

Another one I was thinking would be a way to rank how much influence a player has earned for the guild.

Glory into gold

I was thinking it would be great if there was a way to exchange glory for gold. At the very least maybe allow exchange of glory for something like Globs of ectoplasm or some other in game item in high demand which could be sold on the TP for gold

PvE players at the moment have a way to turn their in game gold into gems so that they can purchase items from the gem store without using real life money. Now that Custom Arenas and their upkeep are going to be costing gems this would give the Spvp’ers a way to fund their arenas if they don’t get into PvE much.

I obviously won’t get into specifics of exchange rates, but it of course would have to be high so that it isn’t abused. The main reason for this is to give people yet another reason to get into sPvP and not feel like they are being held back in other ways.

Dungeons: More Challenge? More Reward.

I totally agree with the OP that the time spent/reward for dungeons is ridiculous when compared to the time spent/rewards for any of the easy world boss events.

Maybe they could add a chance at laurels in the final chest. Or give us more things that we grind for towards our legendary weapons in the dungeon. Another thing they could do is add more achievement points rewarded for completing dungeons. This would be something that could add some competition to the PvE leaderboards.(which I wish there were access to leaderboards in game, but thats a different topic)

Custom Arenas cost gems?

First off, I will start by saying that maybe I am misunderstanding what the intention of having custom arenas is. I was under the impression that they were being implemented to strengthen the sPvP base and to provide more ways for sPvPers to form teams, do tournaments, etc. With gems being involved it just kind of makes the whole thing seem greedy.

What I was thinking was 2 possible things.. One is for GLORY to be used somehow either in the purchase or maybe just in the upkeep of the arenas. It would of course be a large amount of glory needed and could be traded in for upkeep tokens or whatever they have at the gem store.

Another option which I like better personally is to give players the option to turn their glory into gold. Then the hardcore pvp’ers will have a way to use their glory to get gold which they could use to buy gems to get tokens or kits.

Alliances please?

First Off, I just wanna say that I love the guild missions addition so this topic isn’t anything negative in that respect.

My suggestion is to implement something similar to alliances from GW1. The setup could be similar in many respects as far as the UI is concerned. Shared alliance chat is an obvious thing to have. The main thing would be the possibility for alliance members to help allies with guild missions and still earn the good PERSONAL rewards they would get when earning for their own guild. Maybe even have an alliance influence stat so there is extra incentive if alliance members have already earned their commendations or some other type of incentives like laurels as rewards.

This could also have a great effect on WvW play with smaller guilds being able to either team up to coordinate or maybe be in an alliance with a large guild that is better at organizing. The shared alliance chat would be great in this respect.

I’m sure this idea has been brought up before, but I just wanted to bring it up again because I see a HUGE need for them now with guild missions and how it relates to smaller, close knit guilds.
