Ok cool. I would like to see the areas. Do i take an asura gate to them? Can i see the area on my world map?

The Flame and Frost story took place in Diessa Plateau and Wayfarer Foothills. There was also a dungeon that is no longer accessible. The content associated with the F&F story is gone, even though the zones are still there. Same goes for Super Adventure Box from April – it’s gone from the game and you can’t get to it anymore.

The Southsun story is running until the next patch on the 11th. You can go to Southsun via Lion’s Arch.

The living story is just that – living. It has a limited time and then goes away. If you missed the content, you are unfortunately out of luck. There is a new batch of content coming up in the next patch on June 11th, so you can jump right in with everyone else and participate then!

Am I Doing Something wrong?

in Players Helping Players

Jax.9107

I leveled a ranger from 0-80 without doing crafting in about 3 weeks. I went from map to map doing map completion and did my personal story steps. I also did my dailies every single day. I soloed almost the entire thing.

Without having a lot of money, map completion (even doing maps that are below your level!) is definitely the best way to level up quickly.

Question about upgrades

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Jax.9107

Jax.9107

I just figured this out tonight, so don’t feel bad! It means that if you stack the same rune on multiple armor pieces, you unlock further parts of the bonus “tree.” For example, if you have a Major Rune of the Centaur, it has 4 bonuses attached to it:
(1) +15 Power
(2) +10% Bleed Duration
(3) +35 Power
(4) +15% Swiftness Duration

If you have one piece of armor with this rune, you will only be granted the bonus for +15 Power. If you have 2, you’ll get +15 Power and +10% Bleed Duration. If you have 3, you’ll have all of the above +35 more Power. Get it?

When it reads as (1/4) or (2/4), etc, that’s telling you how many runes of that type you have equipped and is showing you exactly what bonuses you are getting in colored text. Bonuses you aren’t getting will be in grey text.

Hope that helps!

Please fix events in the Fields of Ruin

Jax.9107

Have you been submitting bug reports when you find broken things? If you type /bug while you’re standing in an event that’s broken and fill out the bug report, they are much more likely to fix it quickly.

If you are using the forums to report, you need to make sure you are reporting specific events, not just “fix what’s broken.” They may not know what is broken, and reporting with as much detail as possible will allow the devs to find the problems and fix them sooner.

Dungeon Help

Jax.9107

In general, you need to make sure you have at least one, if not two, people running support builds in a dungeon. If everyone is only relying on their own self-heals, you will die quickly. Having at least one person run control (knockdown, daze, immobilize, etc) is also really good because it cuts down on the damage output of the enemies. I love running warrior mace plus sword offhand because that gives me two blocking skills that I can use in addition to my dodging to avoid incoming damage, plus mace allows me to daze.

I’ve also found that unless everyone traits into toughness or vitality at least a little bit, you will be really squishy and die quickly. Have everyone (even DPS) bring a ranged weapon in addition to any melee weapons they might have. Sometimes enemies hit really hard up close, but if you can kite them and shoot them from afar, you can get them down after a while. Make sure you are moving around a lot and using your dodge skills wisely – watch for those big attack animations and save your dodges for that. In some fights it helps to use the environment to get out of line of sight so your enemy can’t hit you. Finally, make sure you are resing each other when you go down, or you’re asking for a wipe.

Good luck!

Partying

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Jax.9107

Jax.9107

You have to be in a party in order to travel to the same dungeon or personal story instance. You can also “Join In” to a party member’s map so you are playing in the same instance of a PvE map (both in overflow, or both in regular). You can also use Party chat (type /p to open it) instead of having to use /say or /guild or /whisper. Other than that, you don’t get benefits specifically from being in a party, like quest objective completion sharing.

If you have to ask, then you probably shouldn’t use it. If someone reports it for being inappropriate (or if someone from ANet reads this post), they’re going to make you do a rename.

There are plenty of other words in Celtic that are unoffensive. I suggest using one of them.

If you say something in the chat in game, whether that’s in public or private, and someone reports you, they’ll investigate. If you’re found to be in breach of the ToS, then you’ll be given a time out.

So no, you don’t get to say whatever you want or be “crass” in chat because the first few weeks of the game are over. The rules still continue to apply.

It’s not required that you are ranged, but unless you are the best tactical player possible in melee range, or you have the best support people with you, you’re going to die quickly. There’s almost no way for you to stay permanently in melee range in a dungeon and live – you need to have a ranged weapon and swap intelligently between them.

It depends on which is worth more money. You have to make your own decision about that based on the price on the trading post and whether its worth it or not.

To unlock vistas (the red mountain symbols) you have to interact with them when you’re standing next to them by pressing F.

For crafting, you have to be trained by a crafting person in a city somewhere. You’ll see the little crafting icons on your screen – walk up to them, tell them that you want to join their profession, and you’ll unlock the first tier of recipes to get you started.

In terms of crafting components, they are all highlighted on the minimap. Logs are trees you can gather, little rocks are ore, plants are cooking ingredients. You can deposit collectibles in your bank from anywhere in the world by right clicking on them and choosing “Deposit Collectible” or by clicking the little gear on your inventory window and choosing “Deposit all Collectibles.”

To get started in WvW or PvP, open up your PvP window via the menu at the top of the screen and click “Go to the Mists.” There are tutorials there that will explain everything.

Good luck!

I’m not really sure what else to tell you, other than it takes practice to be good. This isn’t meant to be a mindless spam 1 to win MMO.

Go through the GW2 build reddit and see if you can find a new build that might work for you. You want something that’s balanced on offense (power, precision, and critical damage) and defense (toughness, vitality).

Is there something wrong with leveling multiple characters? I have been alternating between a warrior and a ranger because I like them both. Play whatever you want to play as it suits your mood.

Jax.9107

Agreed with Bluestone. If you are playing your warrior like a tank in other MMO’s, then you aren’t playing him right. You have to be mobile. If you stand still and let a mob hit you, then you’re going to die. You can be mobile without having to dodge. You have to use your skills and traits intelligently. You can’t go in there spamming your auto-attack with 30 points in power and nothing else traited and expect to live. You need to use your weapon swaps to your advantage.

If you do these things and you are still having trouble, then maybe there is a place in the game that is, in fact, too hard. But until you are really being intelligent about the choices you make in battle, you will constantly die.

Have you been updating your armor so that it’s your level? Using your traits correctly so that you have defensive as well as offensive specs? If you’ve pumped all of your points into Power or Arms, then you’re going to have a tough time living. Definitely make sure you have a ranged weapon and use your control skills correctly. Mace and hammer have great control with knockdowns and daze. Time your own skills to interrupt your enemies. Sword as well has a block that you can use.

And use the NPCs to your advantage when they are there. Let them take hits and back off and heal yourself up.

There is no Asura specific zone for levels 25-35. You can go to Gendarran Fields or to Lornar’s Pass (Enter from the north side).

No idea how to get to Lornar’s Pass.

Go out of the eastern side of Gendarran Fields.

Kk It’s starting with level 26 quests at snowblind peaks. Then jumping to 27 and 28. Are you sure this is the right place? Or is there a different place around here to quest.

That’s the place. It’s a little high for you, but you can probably do the starting quests there. And if you really don’t want to risk it, go to Gendarran and quest there until you level a little.
