Excellent. I thought the merchants were going to dissapear once the event is over. I’m glad they’ll stick around a little longer in Tyria
Sorry if it has been asked before, but I don’t see the answer anywhere so…
I did 2 maps the first day I think and I didn’t get any reward. I’ve read somewhere that anet would send the missing blooms.
It’s the last day tomorrow but I’ll probably spend my blooms tonight as I work all day on monday. So I wonder if any of you guys did recieve your rewards?
Thanks!
The main problem with this event is that it’s not rewarding enough. It is only a 4 days event yet the rewards cost too much blooms.
You literally need to have played the whole 4 days to get your 450 blooms reward if you don’t want to grind like a zombie for hours and hours, doing nothing but running around and slaying every mordrem you encounter.
In these sorts of events, you should be able to get your rewards without necessarly playing every day for several hours.
Either keep the same system but give the players more than only 4 days, or chnage the way the players get the blooms.
For examples : you could get blooms by:
1) Doing the events as usual
2) If enough players succeed X challenge (not impossible or too kittene right?), gain Y amount of blooms
3) take flame-launchers or charrzookas and shoot at particular targets to drop blooms for everyone
4) Use the jumping puzzles and incorporate a “mordrem event” in them, like time challenges or handicaps. And when you succeed, you gain blooms
5) The more poeple you have in one group, the more blooms you’ll gain.
6) When the mordrems retreat, they scatter around blooms you can collect by running around the map.
7) creating a collection of mordrem related items you can only get if you have done the 3 maps rotation.
I’m sure you can find more ideas. The point is that you should be able to gather enough blooms by playing normally, without farming for hours a boring event as a lot of people have jobs / school and can’t play for hours everyday for 4 days…
Also, with these ideas, players could have the choice of what to do. If they don’t like to run and zerg everything, they can focus on the collection, on the jumping puzzles and so on.
I bought the game full price, well my hubby bought it for me… to me this whole going f2p junk is bull, it’s basically a slap in my face. I think those who paid full price should get some sort of compensation, and those who disagree are probably those who’ve joined free. The economy is probably wrecked now.
I’m a veteran (not 3 years ago but close) and I have no problem whatsoever in gw2 becoming f2p. I mean it doesn’t change anything for me. I can understand the frustration of people who bought gw2 not so long ago and didn’t want to buy HoT. But for the others (I think the majority), it doesn’t change anything at all. You’ll still have to buy the expansion no matter how you jumped into the game, by paying or just downloading it for free.
Now regarding the community, we didn’t have to wait the f2p players to get toxic. Also, a lot of new players are just like me and you : people who want to have fun. The only difference is that they don’t have to pay to try the game and that’s GREAT. Just like O’Brien said, Anet is confident that new players will fall in love with the game and buy the expansion and I agree. Gw2 is an amazing and original MMO that deserves to be at least tried. The more new people try the game, the more constent players we’ll have. And in Gw2, more players mean more fun. So that’s a win-win situation honestly.
Regarding the economy, it is in fact an interesting decision. The gem store remains as it is now. New players gathering large amounts of Gold is going to be balanced by the Gold sunk into the new items HoT will provide. And for the price of the core game, it should be “re-earned” by the sales of HoT. Because indeed new players wont pay right now, but they will when they’ll eventually buy HoT or buy gems. So it is a rather good decision, at least in my opinion.
Also, ArenaNet made it clear now : everytime an expansion is available, the previous content becomes FREE. You won’t have to pay the core game + every previous expansion to be able to play. It is a great deal for newcomers and a great choice for the game in general. As for the veteran , it is how markets work. You buy something at launch and over time, its value decreases but you gained the amount of time you played the game. Sometimes I feel like people forget that buying games isn’t a “real” investment as you can’t profit by selling it later. It is something you buy to have fun, nothing more nothing less.
So the main question is : Did you have fun? If yes, then you have nothing to regret. If no, then quit the game and don’t buy HoT or wait till it comes out and see if you’re willing to make the same bet. Really it is as simple as that.
Also, the free outfit is a cool enough Thank you from Anet for us Veteran and we should be thankfull aswell for a game we spent more than a thousand hours playing and awesome people we met by doing so.
I bought the core game at full price and I don’t regret it at all. These last 2,5 years were great and I had a lot of fun, met awesome people that I may have not met if I waited for the game to be free.
This seems to be the argument they all use, its not a valid argument. Being satisfied with the product I originally purchased does not mean I have to be satisfied with all future changes or leave. As a customer I have the right to complain about my treatment by said company to the company. What they do with that complaint is up to them, but if I hear one more high school student ask me “Did you get 60 dollars worth of play out of it?” I am going to flip my kitten. That shows an ignorant, ridiculous, naive take on the real world…
mm I don’t think it is naive at all. You only see things from your perspective. Now ask yourself : Does you buying the game at full price can prevent Anet from making economic decisions? No at all. It is not even stipulated in any contract between the player and the company (Anet).
Of course you can be dissapointed. That’s how life is and that’s how you may reconsider buying HoT. That’s exactly what I said : you don’t like how Anet treats the community, you’re not satisfied with the recent news in general, what you can do as a customer is not spending money, meaning you won’t play HoT. That’s it.
I think, with all the respect, it’s your vision that is naive really. I never said you can’t complain. You can as much as you want. Or you can try to understand the logic behind the recent choices Anet made and try to see, as a grown person, if you want to keep playing the game or not. Don’t just complain about everything, especially things you’re not entitled to.
That’s it.

Pay in that again so even anyone turn like this?
I didn’t read everything but you sure you want to mention Angry Joe? Go check his gw2 review, it is clearly exagerated. He said back then that gw2 was so awesome he could play mmo once again, and all the talk i’m sure you already know.
Guess what? he didn’t play for too long and his last interview with Colin was just him asking general questions / what you hear from the community overall (especially regarding the zerk meta).
PS : Gw2 has nothing to do with WoW, thank God.
I main thief and I’d be totally happy kicking butts with a melee staff
How did you even loose this amount of money in one go? Are you that blind?
You should have realised it was a gambling NPC (wich is really obvious btw…) and stopped immediatly when you started loosing. But you kept going on and lost your money and ectos.
Bad for you, you made really bad choices and you have no excuses. I don’t see why Anet should refund you the gold. This is just ridiculous.
probably going to be a melee staff :P
Yup. We can still hope for other stuff tho!
Totally. I want to be able to poke some charrs with a rifle. I’d love that
probably going to be a melee staff :P
I like the change for two reasons :
1) I don’t have to use the item in order to steal again
2) I’m actualy aware of the exact cooldown.
Honestly it is perfect that way

To clarify: $50 is the price of the expansion. We included the core game as a free bonus to make it easier for new players to get into it.
Your people told new players to buy it on sale for $10 just a while ago on the HoT FAQ. Now you’re milking them some more? You said the base game would be required to play the expansion. What type of trickery is this?
Glad I got the game long time ago. I’d be so kittened if I had bought it for 10 bucks a few days ago.
50USD is still a lot for what we’ve seen in HoT. I think the main issue is the lack of informations about HoT we have so far. So for me, I’ll just wait to see if it is worth the price.
People normally go out of their way to complain. People who are satisfied generally do not. Therefore your numbers are skewed thinking that the mass majority of players are upset.
If you do not like it, just don’t buy it and SHUT UP
Wow, telling us to shut up? Who do you think you are? I’m not happy either.
Of course you’re not happy because you not getting what you want. As far as who I think I am… I’m Batman!
Just leave the topic you’re making yourself look more dumb than you already are.

I’m going to be honest : for 50 buck I expect HoT to have AT LEAST 80% of the amount of content the core game already has.
If the core game was valued 60 bucks 2.5 years ago then we SHOULD get a lot of content in this expansion. As far as we know, the expansion contains:
- Guild halls (shouldn’t even count that as content to be honest)
- New zones that we absolutly don’t know anything about nor the amount of content they contain
- Specializations
- New WvW map
- New PvP map/modeWhat else?
Not sure I listed everything but 50 buck seem to be a really high price for that, can’t really believe Anet when they say the 50 don’t include the core game. I feel like it is a sad excuse but I could be wrong.Anyway that’s just my opinion. Die hard fans, calm down go buy the expansion for yourself, that’s great. And YES we are spoiled kids, you are TOTALLY right.
Then do not get it but i have a feeling ppl who post over and over saying it is to much are likely to get it becuse it IS worth 50$ to them they are just trying to cut a deal.
We all do calculation of what a $ is worth to use and how we should use it but when we complain about something being too much this means we want it and feel that the cost is worth the amount pay but we are trying to get that price cut to make it better. Its simple haggling.
That and you simply do not know every thing in it yet so… ya hold off on buying it.
You’re right about 2 things:
- I was planning on pre-purchasing HoT before this “offer”
- I am not going to pre-purchase it for this price unless we have more informations about the expansions.
That’s all, I’m not trying to cut a deal. Just because you’re excited for something as much as I was for HoT doesn’t mean you have to pay whatever price it is. I don’t get money from my parents, I earn it. And I spend it responsibly.
Never said it isn’t worth the 50 bucks, I just said with the current informations we have, it is SURELY not!
Got my point? ^^

Yup you are spoiled, let the new players have a free copy of the game. I have enjoyed the last 3 years of playing, and already purchased the Ultimate version.
There’s a very big difference between being spoiled and having common sense.
Good then get some, having new players not have to pay twice for a game is a good thing. There is no reason why people should kitten that new players get the base game for free. If you do it is because you are thinking of yourself rather what is best for the game.
Take your own advice, and get some common sense.
Are you THAT kitten stupid or are you just trolling? It’s cool for new players indeed but why the KITTEN should I buy the SAME THING TWICE and having it only 1 TIME?
If that’s spoiled for you then good for you, throw your money away.
That’s just common sense. You pay for something, you GET it, that’s all. It’s not about what is best for the game. I don’t care that’s not my work that is Anet’s. They don’t pay me to promote their game, they don’t pay me at all so guess what? I’m just a basic consumer that want to get what I pay for. Me playing the game before the expansion hasn’t anything to do with this issue.
Dumb b***
OP should just get perma banned from these forums and from the game.
There’s lots of stuff to do…but there’s nothing you have to do.
That’s quite true and many people interpret that as a lack of content. When in fact Anet basically lets you pick your own goals and reach them at your own pace.
That’s my line of thinking precisely.
A lot of people seem to be needlessly throwing around the “lack of content” phrase without truly understanding what it means.
That always makes me laugh. Yeah achievments are content. It’s like creating one dungeon path you can complete in 10 minutes and implementing 500 achievments, like killing rats 10000x times, use your dagger 30000x times, avoid this attack. Ok cool, that’s some EXCITING content you got there.
World bosses? You do them several times and that’s it, nothing interesting apart from the chest at the end (that’s why ALL players do them in the first place).
Craft ascended/legendary? you have to grind for this and guess what? do the same thing over and over and over and over and over again. (dungeons, wb, silverwastes). That’s NOT content.
Fractals? Yeah sure you have levels but you’re basicly doing the same fractal paths. They don’t change at all, only the difficulty does, wich is NOT content variety.
It is crazy that when I think about what I was doing 1.5 years ago, it is exactly what I do today, except for the living story.
So yeah, my suggestion would be to take a break if you don’t have anything to do (wich I TOTALLY understand) until Anet are done with exciting HoT.
It’s essentially a gear reset, like when other games raise the level cap when an expansion is released. Suddenly your BiS gear is not anymore and you have to go out and earn new gear.
It’s a common enough thing in MMOs, the environment is always changing and the company behind the game is not going to hand out new stuff every time it happens. It provides a reason to keep playing the game, if you want to play a game that never changes once you reach the end, this is the wrong genre. It is assumed that any aspect of the game can and eventually will be changed.
Yeah but….no
Guild wars 2 is intended to be different than that. Anet said countless times that they want the “journey to be the goal” rather than grinding new stuff to be able to play the new content.
So the OP is totally right in this particular point.
I want 2 things :
- cape back item.
- anything medium that is not a coat.
I’ve read this before..
This is a terrible idea, really…
1) You’ll have to choose a race you eventually don’t like because the specialization is great, and that’s not a thing I want in this game. Races should stay like this, only for apparences.
2) Even if the skills are basicly the same and you don’t miss out too much playing an asura over a charr, then the idea itself becomes meaningless, because why not make these specializations neutral from the very beginning?
I think specs should based on your profession and why not achievments (like traits work right now).
Who did the voice cover for this april fools event?
IT’S KITTEN AWESOME!
I’m listening to this right now and it made the forums funny today : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DksSPZTZES0
No Vykoz it’s just your guild of oversensitive players. A lot of people play right now. Just did a little dungeon tour and found people to play with very easily.
You’re just waisting your time complaining over and over again.
Get over it or just gtfo and do something else that you won’t find offensive.
Thanks
On that note…
Tequatl’s Tsunami strike is very insensitive.
/s
hahaha, never thought about it this way.
OMG Anet how dare you? please take tequatl off the game you insensitive pr**ks
You guys are tooooo sensitive.
Yes the crash was a disaster and a lot of people died. Yet it’s far from beeing the worst. People die everyday in Africa from the lack of clean water and from hunger. Yet nobody found anything offensive about “food fights” in other games.
It is a JOKE, what don’t you understand in this?
It just like the kids who pretend to be planes… you won’t tell them they couldn’t play that day just because a plane crashed somewhere.
Get over it and stop spreading your stupid nonsense everywhere in these forums.
Congratulations to the people who got invited.
Have fun and give us feedback!
I will most likely put the wings on my future Revenant, being as I’ve previewed them on all my other characters and races and they didn’t really make any sense.
Will probably change out a few armor pieces as new skins come out with HoT too, but for now, below is what I’ve got so far. Will most likely keep the arah legs in the outfit – everything else is up in the air though.
I really like the result. Good job, you’ll be looking great
DR party with everyone wearing black wings.
Who’s in? I’ll be there <3
A support thief would be a little bit weird to be honest, as it’s pretty much an “assassin” class type, with high burst.
So I think the rifle would be the most reasonable weapon to give to the thief (considering the fact that the thief has no long range weapon). But the axe would make sense aswell imo. Maybe with some hardhitting melee skills, but D/D does exactly that.
I don’t think we will see a thief with a staff anytime soon.
Most likely the weapon will be either Rifle, Axe or Mace.
Here is my thief.
I wanted to make a valkyrie type character and tried to be a little bit original with it. I used to play with a darker look and I must admit that having white and gold was a good change.
I don’t know what to replace/add so I’d gladly hear your suggestions.
