The one big problem I’m having is that wine doesn’t use more than one CPU. Else, everything is fine. I’ve been playing GW2 on Ubuntu since November. I use Playonlinux, as they have a patched version of wine that took care of the most annoying bugs.
The FPS can get bad, usually it’s at 20-25 FPS, lower when there is a lot of effects going on, but almost never crashing. As my computer only reaches a bit over the minimum requirements, my graphics aren’t too shiny, but that’s not Linux’s or GW2’s fault.
I don’t think some “Linux” version that reaches beyond wine/cedega will be coming. I don’t even see what should be programmed there. Take the standard windows file and put it into a wrapper/emulator*. It’s the wrappers that need working on, and steadily, they’re getting better. Apart from slideshow playing inside a zerg, I can do everything in GW2.

As far as I observed those “farmers”, it’s about efficiency.
1. Access to champion must be easy.
2. Champion must be slain fast
3. Next champion must be near
So, the ideal champion farming is a place where those line up and respawn once you’d finished the “rotation”.
Or putting it like this: For this very area I’ve been having the buffs from the keep until I was way off to the west of the keep. I assume it is normal, as I noticed it for months. I guess it’s “the bigger the keep the further the buff”. Or it is indeed timed as Durian said.
This player is close enough to the keep to receive the keep’s buff.
Or try raising a pacifist character just by exploring and collecting herbs. It can be quite fun and makes you see the (non-dungeon) PVE world quite differently. 85% world exploration is definitely possible without a single tick of damage dealt.
I’m seeing it when selling several items in a short amount of time (clicking them and just giving them to the best bidder). Waiting 5 to 10 seconds usually helps. Seems like some anti-bot thingy.
Playing a pacifist character I see this quite often (I get aggroed and not out of combat for a while, based on distance). I think of it as expected behaviour, as ist stops you from (easily) getting away and encourages you to kill your prey. Maybe it’s part of the “stops resetting aggro” patch from a while back.
