I think that they may do this when they add in Season 1 of the Living Story.

I am willing to forgive the lack of content under the assumption that their manpower is currently tied to implementing a full-scale expansion.

I’d be willing to forgive it based on the fact that they aren’t making us pay for anything.

Plus, I don’t need content to be constantly thrown at me. GW2 is just that kind of game I play when I want to. I don’t need them to continually put in content, that’s just a plus for me.

so essentially, you are satisfied, because you dont feel the need to play it much.
thats not really a good reasoning.

“hey gw2 doesnt need new content, when they have nothing interesting going on, i just dont play it for awhile” = they probably should have something that makes you want to actually play the game. They kind of made the game so that people will want to play it.

Exactly. There’s no need to be playing Guild Wars 2 all the time. I have other games to play. Games are releasing all the time, just in the next few months I have a large amount I want to get.

And they do have something that makes me want to play the game: the game.

I guess I’m not really using an MMO mindset, but that’s what I love about the game: you don’t have to, and in some ways, I suppose you aren’t actually supposed to.

Why GW2 just isn't working

I dunno, I loved the original Guild Wars, but I feel like I’m more connected to the NPCs and characters of Guild Wars 2, personally.

But if you like the original Guild Wars more, that’s great. But you don’t need to insult people or assert your opinions on others.

I didn’t notice anyone trying to assert their opinions on anyone else. Even reading back through the thread everything seems very civil for a GW2 forum thread.

Mostly it is just people expressing what they do and don’t like.

For me, I love GW2, but it doesn’t hold me enthralled like GW1 did. I’m not trying to tell anyone else that they should feel the same.

I just feel like some people are being rather aggressive, but maybe that’s just me.

I generally try to stay off of forums nowadays as I feel like they’re pretty toxic, at least for me.

You have some of the old Transmutation tokens. How do you not have a level 80 yet if you’ve been playing that long. :-|

I played from early access for a month. Life happened and I left the game for 2 years. I came back a month or so ago.

Things like this happen.

Well, I’m more connected to my Asura and Sylvari than I ever was to my GW1 characters. But maybe that’s just me. I fell in love my GW2 characters, personally.

why does it matter if a game is “dying?”

It’s a game. You play it until you complete it/don’t feel like playing, and if you feel like playing you return to it. Games aren’t required to give you content to “keep playing.” Just play if you want to play.

It matters to a lot of people. Because in an MMO you invest more time into it than your average game, and you become vested in it. If it’s not going to be there, you’d have to start over somewhere else, building your fortune, leveling characters.

If I knew an MMO had six months left, I probably wouldn’t start playing it. On the other hand, I would play a driving game that wasn’t going to be around in six months.

I guess I understand that. I wasn’t thinking of an MMO “dying” in a literal sense: of the servers actually shutting down. That really wasn’t a thought with me. But, I mean, with MMOs, I feel like they’re just games like any other. They’re things I can get really into and play hundreds of hours on.

And I love Guild Wars 2, I have a lot of faith in ArenaNet, and although I just recently returned to the game (I played for about a month at release but then life happened and I just came back around a month ago), I feel like they’ve been adding a lot of good content. While I don’t agree with all the changes the recent pack has made, I believe that ArenaNet knows what they’re doing.

There are a few things that annoy me with the changes:

We don’t gain more than 1 weapon skill in the opening level: I feel like this takes some of the fun away from the opening level, as what used to be an excited experience is now sort of boring. You just stand there at the boss and wait until it dies. It would be nice if we could have at least one weapon skill, like have us level up once during the opening level before we get to the boss.

Second, I feel like the dodge tutorial basically makes the dodge daily challenge worthless. I think it should have been in the opening level as a mandatory thing. I also think that the rally system should be covered in the opening level.
