My wife and I just hit this bug yesterday (in particular, the bug where my wife had her order changed when finishing the Ogre series of quests), and find the lack of communication with regards to this terrible. Anything that could permanently affect the personal story of the characters like this should have been sent to players in a wide fashion, not just hidden in a post that will only be seen after someone hits the bug.

With regards to the comments about not being able fix this bug, I want to know if this is across all instances of the bug or specific ones. I can understand that one of the other instances o the bug couldn’t be fixed for players (being the bug where the initial choice is made by the primary player and other players get forced into the Vigil).
However, you’ve indicated that you have a list of completed quests and the ability to reset the character to an earlier quest in their personal story.
It should be easy to iterate the quests that have been completed on a character and see that early quests were completed that were only available to one order, and current or later quests are in there that are available to a different order. Then, you should be able to just reset the character to the last “valid” quest for the original order.

That being said, it appears that there is no intention of applying this obvious fix, and there is no intent to fix the underlying bug. As such, my wife has a ruined character and we have to deal with telling people to avoid some parts of the game just in case.

I just hit this bug today. I killed the spider, but ran into some hatchlings just afterwards. I killed those, and ran down to find the full set of people and the pack marmox standing at the edge of the bridge doing nothing.

The quest is still stuck at the escort step, there are no possible people to interact with other than basic dialog.
