Something similar to this just happened to me in Arah. Ran the dungeon for the first time today and got 15 tokens. Everyone else in my party got 60.

Hi everyone. Recently (earlier today) Arena Net decided to change how the dungeons work. Mainly what this means is that when you run the dungeon the first time you receive extra tokens and that you only get tokens at the end of the dungeon. What this means is that people will no longer be able to “farm” the first 2-3 bosses and leave.

This makes perfect sense as it forces people to do the full run. A full set of armor will take about 8 days if you do 3 separate dungeon routes per day which is a nice reasonable amount of time.

My problem and I’m sure this has bothered many people is HOW long each dungeon run is. Some of this “length” has to do in part with hard hitting monsters/difficult bosses but I won’t go into that. For someone like me, I would like to log in at the end of a long day and simply relax by doing one or two dungeon runs.

Arena Net has been an advocate for “no grinding” since the very start. However does not spending 1-2 hours in a dungeon count as grinding? Specially since I am having no fun sitting in map chat spamming for groups. When I log on, I simply want to find a group, do a couple runs and log off. Not sit in map chat for 1 hour looking for group and then spending another 1.5 hours in dungeon.

So my suggestion is :

  • Would it be possible to implement a party finder? That way you can que up for a party and still be in a different zone doing your own thing.
  • Perhaps an increase in the amount of tokens as well. And not just the first run of the day, but I mean at the end. So instead of 20 you get 30 or 50.
  • Another is have the same tokens for all dungeons. What this means is that the one dungeon we like running is still useful for getting that other dungeons gears. Doesn’t quite make sense but maybe another type of token rather than relevant tokens
  • This is probably never going to happen but I liked the old way where you could “farm” 1-2 bosses and leave. I think this was good because you would miss out on the silver at the end if you didn’t actually finish it. And since there’s no “wrong” way to play the game what was wrong with this method?

Anyway those are my thoughts, perhaps some nice dev will read it and think it over. I guess my biggest problem is time and I’m sure others have similar issues so feel free to post here.

Bahaha you think giant takes too long to die? Try doing it with 2 people. That’s right, I was “tanking” by evading all his attacks while a necromancer auto attacked from a safe distance. Before you begin saying, how could I tank all his stomps, let me tell you, I was warrior with signet that increases endurance regeneration and I was using Greatsword which has a evade skill. Took us 40 minutes to kill and I was evading maybe every 5-10 seconds.

I tell you , it’s very satisfying to “tank” this boss. Usually it’s just me meele-ing him while everyone just ranges from a safe distance and always nice to hear people go “pro tank, good job” etc etc at the end.

I also like doing the Kol the Skullsmasher chain in level 35-45 human zone because A) There’s actually a chest at the end By the time it ends you can start the chain again C) It’s a ton of exp/karma, I think maybe 5-6 dynamic events in total and that’s ONLY if you follow the Kol chain. If you follow the other chain that meets up at the end, that’s a LOT more.
