For leveling, use 1h axe as mainhand, that is all you need to go from zero to hero. The rest you’ll figure out yourself along the way.
I had someone dc once, we finished it with 4 without problems, don’t know if it was the game or on his end. Otherwise most of what you said was drivel.
I guess that’s true dracones. Leveling is such a small part of it though. The downside of turning it casual and lazy is that people ended up doing dungeons with complete strangers they never met again. That had some serious consequences on peoples behavior and made sure there where no bonds formed. Those same people would otherwise more or less be forced to seek each other out, be social, make connections.
I guess this downside is a fundamental one for me while being able to run shadow fang keep 24/7 on an alt is a very minor perk.
Anyways we both agree it’s different in this game, no community and extremely diverse dungeons make it so.
dracones in wow these things where never really needed in part because of server community but mostly due to a straight forward progression. Here they’ve managed to divide us so much I think a lfg tool is an ok emergency solution. But it still is an emergency solution.
As far as eve gameplay goes I remember it more like: “send us your thumb as proof you’re not a spy, train 4 actual man years and then end up sitting around waiting for something to happen for 5h then log out and cry”. I still love some aspects of it but it’s the most anti-casual game I know so your parable with lfg tools makes little sense imho.
I don’t get it. I quit playing this after a month when I 100%’ed the world and realized there was nothing left in this game for me to do. My entire guild and network of friends all are planning on logging on for the first time in months.
The reason I went to the forums at all was to write a snide post with the topic “Did it really take that long to realize people want progression in an mmo?” but I guess responding here will do.
Good job for someone with a clue finaly waking the devs up, let’s hope it’s not too late.
edit: after reading a few more posts in this topic. It’s a matter of who you think own this game. If it’s only the pvp crowd then there’s no need for change. Obviously this emergency update is the result of a huge chunk of the players NOT being satisfied with only what’s offered on the pvp side. I thought that was obvious myself but no need to argue that now when we now for sure.

Well using the method outlined by you guys here I managed to get it all done, a bit painfull but not That bad either.
Thanks guys there’s some real good info here and fast too! I shall go through the checklist, not as fast as a map or ingame indicator but it will work, much apriciated.
@Eridani: Yea realize they are different things, want both ><
@Any dev’s reading: sub-category for the acievment would make this alot less painfull.
The economy is much more important in this game than in wow because there is an connection to real money through gems. It was also very endgame centric where there was always heavy gold sinks. They also did an terrible job at keeping the economy from inflating so it’s not an good example, they didn’t care because it didn’t really hurt them since they didn’t make any monies our of it. I’d rather pay 2s to port than pay a monthly fee and I honestly think most people would prefer that too.
My simple question is this:
How do I know which areas are left unexplored?
The hint you get is from achievments, for example Krytia 174/175 etc but there’s no way of knowing which area is missing. This wouldn’t be a big problem if the edges of most maps weren’t so jagged. I don’t mind teleporting around wasting gold but it feels I could spend an eternity doing it without result.
Any maps out that features fog? All the ones I’ve seen are datamined and show areas revealed that could never be revealed etc.
The reason you don’t understand the logic is that you didn’t pay attention to the answers you got or even worse made snide uneducated comments to divert them.
Again, gold sink’s are a good thing, noone likes extreme inflation. Arenanet has done a very good job so far in that regard. Going forward I hope they can keep the economy in check.
This is a core design issue (which by the way was what your first replier meant when he said professionaly) that is working great so far. the end.
