I’ve been getting this as well for the past half hour, 45 minutes. Game will barely let me log in anymore without DCing.
I gave your build a try. Bought a full set of dire armor/weapons and trinkets and the extra HP was nice, but overall I felt very lackluster damage wise. Not having that crit chance really felt like it was hurting me., Trying the same traits with my old rabid set of armor produced better results.
Maybe I was doing things wrong, but my stats were nearly spot on from yours (exotic vs ascended) and I just didn’t feel like I had enough oomph to finish a fight. I’ll have to roam a bit more before making my final decision, but that’s just what I experienced.
Yeah, I was thinking carrion might be the way to go. It’ll give me a bit more vitality for those harder hitting battles, and should work with most condition specs. Turns out my scepter is also carrion, so it’ll work well with that.
You have just repeated my topic from yesterday…

Hah! Zerker sounds decentish, but I want something that’ll work between both condi, and power builds if possible.
Knights to me sounds like a safe option, but I’ve got little experience with conditions in general.
I recently obtained a crossing after getting my necro to 80, and as you might know, you can select the stats on it for 1 time only. I’m running full zerker on my necro currently, but wouldn’t mind eventually getting a condition set for WvW down the road.
My question is: Which stats could I apply to the staff that would complement both WvW, and PVE builds? I’m not extremely versed in the ways of the necro, but I’d like to be able to use the staff without trying to get another one for a different build set.
Delete your local.dat file. its located under “APPDATA\Guild Wars 2”
Found the file, and deleted it. Still doesn’t work.
Was in game, playing like always and got the prompt that there was a new build available, so I restarted the game, it applied the update (I think), and now it crashes when I start it and it shows the launcher. Adding -repair onto the shortcut does nothing and it still crashes out.
I’m at a loss for what I could do to get my game working again.
I’ve bought gems during the times said, and I didn’t receive a kite.
20 30 0 0 20 is how I trait. Selecting in order: Incendiary Powder, Enhanced Permformance, Hair Trigger, Rifled Barrels, Modified Ammunition, Static Discharge, Speedy Kits. I use P/P (‘zerker with sigils of battle and corruption) EG, Rifle Turret (for Surprise Shot) and Took Kit. This mainly for WvW, but PvE is easy — been awhile since I’ve run a dungeon however….
My stats (when charged) are around 3,100 Attack, 1,420 Condi Damage, 33% Critical Chance and 50% Critical Damage – w/ Pizza I get 60% Condi Duration.
This is a hybrid, and may not be for everyone, but I really enjoy it. I’ve got close to 1,500 hours on my Engi and this is what I’m most interesting in right now. It works for me.
Thanks! I’ll give it a shot.
Rampager pairs well with a Static Discharge build. Power is coupled with Condition Duration on the trait line, so even if you don’t have a lot of Condi Damage, you can (with Pizza) build up some pretty impressive Condi Duration stats.
This is something of a hybrid build – but there’s nothing wrong with that.
I was actually running a static discharge build not too long ago, but it required zerker gear. What kind of traits would you recommend personally?
Why would anyone use a flame thrower for condition damage? After hitting them 10 times, you do 1 tick of burning on the last hit…
The elixir gun, on the other hand, can cripple/bleed a lot of classes to death, while giving you quite a bit of the lasting power needed to win an attrition fight.
For just straight up condition damage, grenades, and pistols are nice.
I’d do pistols/elixirgun, since they share a lot of traits.
I might give pistol’s and grenades a try!
I don’t mind completely regearing this guy, I just wanted to know if the armor was a complete loss or not.
Okay! So my engineer was the first class I rolled, and I knew absolutely nothing about the game while I was getting him to 80. Once he was 80, I tagged along with some friends in a bunch of CoF runs, and bought a whole bunch of exotic power, precision, condition gear from the token trader.
Now that I’ve learned the game, and rolled 3 extra 80’s with proper gear and stats, I keep looking back at my old starter, with his confused gear, and want to revamp him, but I wanna know if I can get any use out of his current gear before I throw it away on a zerker, or knight’s set.
Could someone try making Carry on my Wayward son for the bell, or horn?
Yes, I have the perfect thing for you. This is “almost” what I settled with. High damage and a fair range. I tested this build with great success in dungeons and WvW. The secret is the static discharge released when using a tool belt skill. That will bounce though three enemies. So let’s resume. You have to equip a Kit but you won’t use it whatsoever. A total of 7 projectiles that will crush the enemy.
FIREARMS: 30 Points with: IV, VI, IX
ALCHEMY: 10 Points with: VI
TOOLS: 30 Points with: II, VI, VIII
*You may notice that this increases critical damage and reduces tool belt skills recharge. So equip the following: Rifle Turret, Tool kit and Utility Googles. Why? Because they will add the following to your toolbelt:
- Surprise shot
- Throw Wrench
- AnalyzeUsing those traits, each of these will also hit the foes with the discharge bolt.
Hints:
- Use whatever healing you are used to, I recommend the healing turret
- You will use the tool belt skills constantly you may want to bind them on the keys: Q,E,R,C (in stead of F1, F2, F3, F4) but this is a matter of preference.
- You won’t have great condition removers but your range from the monsters will compensate.PPS: why won’t you bring this engi in WvW? Others mage the ground tremble with this build. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgEyg769cDc
I’ve been playing engie since I got the game, but mostly in PVE with my own “build” and once I got to 80 I quickly lost interest once I started on a guardian. I tried your build out and I absolutely love it. It really makes him fun to play again.
What armor/weapons would you recommend for it? I’m currently wearing stuff spec’d for condition damage mostly with the COF armor, but that doesn’t seem to apply to this build as much.
