How do wvw objectives work?

in WvW

I had an earlier topic asking how to fight as a zerg and got some good feedback. And though I don’t care about ppt, pvd, pve and all the other tooty fruity stuff in wvw that distracts us from killing each other, I still need to have a complete understanding of what it all does. Because it can either help my zerg or allow us to make the enemy play in to our hands. Because they love the tooty fruity stuff just as much as every other tooty fruity pveing loving…I’ll stop there.

Anyway, I know the basics of supplies, reinforced walls/gates. But how do I tell when a supply camp is upgraded with better npcs or +5…from a distance? What’s a tell tale sign of who commands dredge/hylek/ogre…from a distance? How do the middle objectives in bls work? Where are some tricks and optimal places to drop siege in a keep/tower/supply camp?

What are some things to look out for that a player of moderate playtime may not have noticed with the naked eye? Or even possibly right in front of them.

Any tips on commanding fights?

I’m close to getting my tag. And I have been taking notes. But I’m still very uncertain of many things.

First off, I’m not concerned with capturing or defending stuff. I’m not saying that I plan to avoid it entirely. But boosting the ppt of one’s world is not something I care much about nor am I impressed by commanders who do a good job at it. Its pretty simple actually. And I believe I’ve grasped everything I need to know on the subject anyway.

Now that that is out of the way, I want to know what is expected of certain classes in a zerg vs zerg scenario. I know what all the necro skills do, so I don’t need feedback on them.

For instance, I’d like to know the best ways to stack as many boons and damage a large amount of enemies as fast as possible. But I do not plan to ask people to play a certain way. So what are general things that I should command certain classes to do? What should I be wary of, and/or what are the biggest signs to knowing when to back away. Any particular youtube vids of good pvp commanding would help.

Thanks.

Just got back from 2 month break and....

I’m on SoS.

WvW has been my main thing to do since launch. But I recently took a 2 month break from GW to play some other stuff. When I started playing again I expected the same fun, but found this dynamic world of zergs vs zergs has diminished to karma wars.

I know it was always a karma war. The whole ranking system was even in affect with the new WvW abilities and all that, but it was still good. What happened in the last 2 months?

I could give a crap less who owns what as long as they are zergs crashing in to zergs with cutthroat raid leaders who didn’t let every random get away just because “Our thieves will get them”. NO THEY WONT! Those randoms will hop on the next AC or ballista or even(God forbid) take our supply camps.

Commanders seemed to care more about pvping. It seemed the concern in WvW was 80% pvp/20% pve. And even if you are 100% concerned about pve, you won’t have many people following your zerg much longer if you don’t get fights going.

All the haters can reply to this and kittenolol all over it and call me stupid to the WvW dynamic or whatever. I could care less. I probably won’t even read the replies to this cuzz I’m taking another break from WvW. And not because I wanted to try something else. This time its because things have gotten bad.

Just saying. Enjoy.

My main is lvl 80 Necro with nearly all exotic. I also play Warr and Guard in sPvP(Rank 20).

I am currently in a WvW guild with Oceanic players(MERC). We are strong between 12am-12pm Central US. But working 12 hour rotating shifts makes me unable to play with them all of the time.

My guild leader told me it would be ok to rep another guild between the hours of 12pm-12am.

Looking for a guild that cares “Extremely Little” about PvEing at all, has a group in WvW 90% of the time frame mentioned, not too passive to the point of letting enemies in their immediate vicinity get away, doesn’t expect me to make many changes to my build and doesn’t treat new recruits to their guild as if they are new to the game.

Thanks.

Im rank 20.

I play a bunker Necro, glass cannon warrior and healing guardian.

I’ve played many tournies.

My main is the Necro with almost all exotic gear. I play half bunker/half dps in WvW.

I’m always a factor in any fight, no matter how large or small the fight is.

I don’t want to join a guild with a lot of PvEers. These guilds seem to lack the common goal that I play towards.

My toons are Lebury, Link the Kokiri and Zeldarella. My Arena Net name is Jude,8172.

Thanks,

I’m an active WvWer. My main is lvl 80 Necro with almost all exotic gear.

I’m looking for an extremely large guild where over 90% of the people are WvWing all the time. I don’t enjoy PvE very much, but willing to do it sometimes.

I know a lot of people claim Necros to be completely worthless. But I play half tank/half dps. I rush in to enemies raids and I’m a factor in any fight no matter what the circumstance. I also follow instruction well.

I’m willing to transfer to whatever server you are on. I just want to run with a huge zerg of guildies all the time.

Character name is Lebury. Arena net name is Jude.8172.

Thanks.

My account is Jude.8172. My main is a lvl 80 necro. I have other toons I sPvP with.

Looking for a guild with 200+ members that is active in WvW. Preferably a guild that means to ally themselves with other guilds to reach superpower status for the server.

And preferably a little light on the rules. I don’t hack and I don’t trash talk. But I do like to swear and talk about crazy stuff. And I “Never” pass up the opportunity to kill an enemy from an opposing server. Even if we have 1000 and they have 1, I’d like to kill that guy.

So preferably a ruthless guild that holds kills above objectives. But I like it all. Even jump puzzles.

Anyway, I have TS, Vent, Skype and Mumble. I’ve played many MMOs. I’ve been officer in many guilds on other games and even lead my own. I’m easy to get along with. And eager to play with some fun people.

Ideally I would like to join the biggest, nastiest WvW zerging superpower that has no level requirements or over the top rules.

At the moment I am a lvl 35 necro.

I pretty much hate pve. I’ve done 90% of my leveling in WvW so far. I sorta like group/raid type pve dungeons with dynamic boss fights. But I don’t plan on doing any heavy pveing. I’ll run end game content when I hit level 80 and beef up my gear. But at the moment, I don’t care for the stuff. I’m doing just fine in WvW.

I also like PvP and Tourneys.

I’m not an mmo nub.

I get along with pretty much everyone.

And like I said with the first sentence, I want to join a “LARGE” guild. Not one that is starting out or anything like that.

And preferably like to leave stalemate fights with little to no kills, shooting at guys on a wall forever thinking we are going to claim a keep/tower. When things get too stalematey, I like to venture out and do “ANYTHING” else. Zerg/gank some stragglers or find a good fight somewhere.

Thanks.
