In addition to any shape/color changes to the commander tags, one thing I’d really like to see (speaking as a PUG) is that when the tag is active the commander’s chat is somehow distinctive. Ideally it’d display their chosen tag next to their name in-chat so there’ s an easy correlation between map icon and chat icon but even a sensible color change (e.g. pink tag is pink text) would help tremendously in sifting out orders in the chat.
The example I’m thinking of here is an arrow cart so numbers could be tweaked for other siege. I like the idea of the siege decaying over time as in actually decaying where it does less damage. If that were the case I’d prefer it with something along the lines of 3.25 hours before it gets down to 10% damage done (basically ineffective) but can be repaired by 10 supply (what one person could carry by default) and the decay doesn’t start until the first hour is up. So it’d be 0-1 hrs basically as is now, 1-3.25 hours decays at 10% every 15 minutes, and 3.25 hrs-(insert long time here 12 hrs, a day maybe?) it would remain at the 10% effectiveness before it poofs. Then if a person comes to use it it’s still there but they have to pay the supply penalty for having neglected it in order for it to be really useful. That way there’s still some negative for not taking care of your siege (and even more negative if you don’t keep supply on you) but it’s not as costly as having to build new siege (which can’t necessarily be done alone).
Got PPT?
Dat perfect map
Getting those last few camps to stay green was like a game of whac-a-mole!
That’s really quite impressive! Great job!
I’ve written a simple android app entitled “Guild Wars 2 Claims” that allows you to find what objective your guild is currently holding. The intent is for members of a guild to be able to A ) know where to go to defend the objective claimed by their guild leaders and B ) know that something has already been claimed if they are deciding to claim something new.

Any official input would be greatly appreciated just to confirm if this team is gone for good or not. (:
Here’s the thing. The guy who wrote this blog:
Was in charge of that team. “Was” being the key word, there. Rick Ellis no longer works at ArenaNet, and we’ve heard nothing about an “Extended Experience” team since then.
That is sincerely disheartening news. I can only hope that it’s still in the works behind the scenes since I really really like the idea.
I understand there’s a priority of fixing bugs and such before adding new things to the game. I also understand Anet’s policy of not talking about/giving fixed dates for things until it’s ready to release, the whole “It’s ready when it’s ready” thing which I have no qualms with.
I’m just trying to get an idea of the relative priority of the whole Extended Experience (e.g. the mobile app, the web interface, basically seeing/interacting with portions of the game world from outside the game). As I said I don’t expect any kind of date, promise, or details really but it’d be nice to know if this is something really high on the list and we’ll hear more about it soon (i.e. next month or so) or if this is considered more of a backburner issue that we won’t be seeing for a significant amount of time.
Based on how sites like gw2spidy are set up it seems like the back end system is in place (i.e. passing the required info from a website to in game) and is just waiting for the official front end. My main desire for this whole Extended Experience is the desire to see the WvW scores/map from out of game before I decide if I want to jump in at the moment without relying on 4 hr old user submitted data like most current sites offer.
tl;dr Where does the Extended Experience fall on the list of Anet’s priorities?
According to the wiki the Gifts required are the Gift of Fortune, Gift of Mastery, and the Gift of Rodgort. The Gift of Rodgort requires the Vial of Liquid Flame along with the Gift of Wood, 100 Icy Runestone, and a Superior Sigil of Fire. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rodgort

This issue seems polarized on which is more important for a claimed site: coordinated guild defense, or buffs for pug defense.
On the one hand if you believe that the coordinated defense of an area is most important then it makes sense to have some kind of timer set to guild claims such as mentioned earlier that only allows the claim to stay in effect as long as there are active guild members in the area to defend it.
On the other hand if you believe that buffs are more important to allow pugs to defend the area rather than the guild defending it themselves it makes more sense to have a system in place that gives priority to guilds with more buffs available.
I personally feel that the spirit of the claiming system was intended to be nearer the first option where a guild claims an area as their own, thus showing their banner, and they stick around to defend it. Therefore, I very much like the idea of some sort of timer requiring active guild members in the area.
Still not there on Isle of Janthir but he shows up in the chat.
