I’ve been playing this game quite a bit to knock out my achievements, and I believe it has the potential to be a great minigame. I feel like there are quite a few issues with it however.
- Evasion is hardly a factor in this game. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had someone use the “Steal” ability on me while I’m mid-backflip.
The main problem is that this mini game cause lots of lag. Heck its worse then the worst time in wvwvw.- “Dash” is terribly inconsistent. I’ve literally watched some many other players dash all the way across the arena. I dash 10 meters, if I’m lucky.
- Additionally after “Dash” is finished, the characters find themselves frozen in place for half a second. May not seem like much, but it’s a huge halt on momentum.
- At one point this morning we had 3 crabs in play. I won’t lie. This was pretty fun. However, I’m pretty sure that’s a bug.
- It needs more Karka’s…..I’m being facetious, of course. The last thing this game needs is more chaotic variables.
- Far too much latency in the click-targetting. And of course tab-targetting is unreliable.
- Considering how overpowered the fishing pole is, why is the cooldown on it less than the cooldown on “Steal”?
- The crab itself is held with two hands. How is someone able to blow a conch shell with both hands encumbered?
- The way the achievements are set up, it’s just another grind. Not a terrible grind. But all hardly anyone is there to do is knock out those achievements.
- “Crabtastic” doesn’t seem to proc like it should. It’s already hard enough as it is. But for it to not work when you do finally pull it off is a huge slap in the face.
- Needs more Karkas. I think I’ve already addressed this. In fact, I think you should add both of the bosses from the end of Molten Facility as well. There’s not enough variables to worry about.
- Why’s it called the “Crab Toss”? I mean, the purpose of the game is to hold it as much as possible. Right? Tossing is a factor…But…I think Apple Jacks taste more like apples than I think this game is about tossing a crab.
It needs some finetuning, ArenaNet. But it has potential.
1) The reason why this happens is because the mini game cause a lot of lag. I would say that its even worse then the worst times in 100’s vs 100’s battles in wvwvw.
2) You need to hold the button down… The longer you hold it the further you will run. If you simply just press it then you will run the minimum distance. If you hold it the entire time it should be able to take you almost from one side of the arena to the other.
3) The reason why you stop is… well ok its a feature of the ability to allow others to catch up you can note that your character will “slow down” and stop and then it take 1-2 sec before you can move again. I guess its a balance thing and im fine with it.
4) Its the lag sadly… Lots of strange things happen because of this. I have had games where EVERYONE got on first place.

7) No idea what you are talking about… I tend to win without using that tool. The thing is that you need to think when you run around. If someone gets in the way you will hit that person instead. This makes the tool balanced.
8) I agree you should not be able to have another thing in your hand if you carry the crab… for balance reasons. The ability to roll 4 times or fear people over and over again. Sprint… People follow you… Fear… Dodge sprint and so on.
Also i agree on the name… It sound like its a team based game where you “throw” it around and the have to avoid the creatures and other team… Instead its a game of tag.
