What Moonstarmac says is mostly correct. ALL 32 bit Operating systems have the same limitation in regards to ram. a 64 bit OS can utilize more ram than anyone can currently throw at it with todays technology. I don’t recall the exact number, but it ginormous.
However, 6GB would usually be a bad idea. In most systems, you want to use a factor of 2 (2,4,8,16,32…..) because of how ram is configured. Adding 2GB to a system with 4GB already installed would actually decrease performance, because all three sticks would only be running in single channel mode. The only caveat is if you have a system designed to use triple channel ram, in which case you would go 3 GB/6 GB/12 GB etc etc.
One short term fix you could try is increasing your page file size. When you do this, you basically allocate a section of your HDD to act as RAM. I will warn you that some people say doing this can decrease the life span of your HDD, so do so at your own risk. On an older computer I had, I did this for about 6 months to increase performance for RAM intensive games, and didn’t have any issues myself.
Hmm, wish we could get an update on this.
On further review, closing the process actually made the BLTP un-usable. Probably should leave it alone.
It is in fact the browser for the BLTP (Black Lion Trading Post.)
I just ran a quick test. Started Game, Awesomium_Process.exe NOT running. Open BLTP Window, Process starts. Close window, process stays running. SHut down process, no errors. Open BLTP window, process restarts.
Based on that, you can physically terminate the process with no ill effects, but its just going restart every time you open up the trading post. It could be that there are other portions of the game (Maybe like the guild window?) that could cause the process to start.
I imagine, from a programming point of view, its easier to modify an existing browser to start when needed, than it would be to build the functionality into a game engine. I think that several other games use a similar solution (LotRO and TSW come to mind.)
Edit: I should also add, that the BLTP is actually its own separate website. You can actually log into it from a standard browser, and view the information.

Awesomium, IIRC, is a version of the Chrome web browser that Anet uses for the BLTP in game.
There are a few of us here that have been having the same issue since the last big patch.
The prob;em is that the GW2.exe is not fully shutting down. If you go to your task manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) look under the processes tab, you will find that the GW2.exe is still running. Click it, then click ‘end process’ and you should be good to go.
Same issue for me. Win 7-64 bit. Didn’t start happening until F&F update..
Based on my understanding of a previous Dev post, I’ll only have enough Cogs to make 2 Minis.
I Must be weird. I actually enjoyed it. I ran 3 times the first day, and 4 times on day two. Mostly to help fill random groups.
That said, I would like to be able to earn more cogs somehow.
I logged into my GW2 account today for the first time from my wife’s computer. I realized a while later, that I wasn’t prompted for account authorization. Now, this is okay from my home network, but I could see this being an issue for anyone that frequently games from a public network.
It appears to me that the authentication is keyed to the network IP. Anyone logging in from a public IP would have the same IP, and as… dedicated… as some of these hackers are, it wouldn’t surprise me if some of them camp at various network hot spots, hoping to catch a glimpse of someones log in information and bypass the authentication by using the same network.
Or maybe I’m just paranoid. (Just because I’m paranoid doesn’t mean that they are not out to get me!)
I disagree with the ‘easy on the eyes’ sentiment of the above poster. I find the white background excessively bright, and it cause issues with my eyes adjusting when I switch between this forum and others that generally have a darker background.
I also find that the white background causes more eye strain, particularly at night when I have most the lights off in the house.
I’m sure the almost perfect looking phishing scams are going to start making a circuit here soon too. Defiantly do NOT click the links, unless you were actually expecting to get the email.
Speaking of phishing, I just got over 300 emails about my Diablo 3 account being “hacked”… never even bought the game….
I have no experience with macs, but I have had similar graphical issues in the past.
Make sure your video driver (and all your other ones for that matter) are fully up to date.
If they are, and the problem persists, try a re-install of the client. You may have some corrupted files.
Find a utility that allows you to monitor your CPU and GPU temps, you may be overheating.
There is also the possibly that your GPU is damaged, and unable to display the images properly. If you have access and the ability, swap out the gpu, and see if the problem persists.
I don’t know this for sure, but iirc, there are many events that require several other events be triggered to cause the big event to happen. It maybe that this particular event may require two or three other events to be completed in a certain order before it will start.
Again, that’s just what I recall. I couldn’t tell you where or when I read that.
