Internet is fine – I can post this!
I downloaded the update today and have lost the connection with the server 3 times in about 30 minutes. It takes me back to my character selection screen where it fails to show new gear equipped before the disconnection issue. It’s a crapshoot as to whether or not I am able to re-enter the game from the character selection screen – sometimes I can sometimes I’m informed I have an internet connectivity issue. Oddly, I do not – can surf the web and watch youtube videos with no issues. This has never happened before – only since today’s update. Any thoughts?
… I mean relative to other builds. I have a level 11 Ele and have a ton of fun with the build. I think this may be because it’s a D/D build so the damage output compared to my P/P thief and SB ranger is simply much higher. I play PvE exclusively at the moment, and I play strictly builds I find fun. I realize my other two builds are ranged, which might explain the difference in felt DPS, but as long as my Ele doesn’t get comparably weaker to my others as I level up, I’ll stick with the Ele for now. So much fun. Thoughts?
Greetings all!
Am seeking some advice on my thief build. First, a bit of context: am new to the game, have a level 40 ranger, a 9 engineer and a thief at 14. I enjoy engaging at a distance, and am drawn to bows, rifles and pistols – projectile weapons. I play PvE exclusively; may eventually play WvW, but have no desire to PvP.
For my thief I’ve decided to dual wield pistols though I’m aware that this isn’t considered a strong build. I simply find it fun. That said, I would like to max out my DPS as soon as possible and would also like to make the guy a bit tankier. I know that’s tough, and while I’m enjoying leveling him up, it’s noticeably harder than it was for my ranger and engineer. It just doesn’t feel like he dishes out as much as my other builds, and he’s incredibly fragile.
So, any and all suggestions for how to increase DPS and tankiness, would be appreciated. Again, bear in mind I’m a lowly 14. Also, I will use stealth/avoidance here and there, but wouldn’t mind him being a bit more resistant to incoming damage. Oh, and I use a short bow as my secondary.
Thanks in advance.
Love GW2; can't stand SAB - unfortunately

I’m new to the game, but I absolutely love it. The graphics, character customization, the maps and attention to detail, and the music. Yes, the soundtrack is nothing short of glorious for a game, in my humble opinion. And for all the above-mentioned reasons I can’t stand SAB. The graphics, the sounds, the platformer feel… Possibly surprising given my (old) age. But I personally can’t wait for the next non-SAB release. Arenanet has done a superb job as far as I’m concerned, and I’m certainly willing to tolerate a screwy release here and there.
Judging by the otherwise generally positive comments in this thread I appear to be in the minority.
Admittedly I am pretty new to GW2, but I enjoy the class tremendously. But, I only play to have fun, and couldn’t care less about the opinions of anyone else as it relates to my choices.
