All right, so I’ll try this build and see how I get on =) Listen, what about for a good spec WvsW?

This build is great for WvW and also works for swapping to staff when needed (just swap the traits Earth VI for Earth III and Air I for Air VI)

Elementalist Traits Idea

I would imagine the devs avoid the Ele forums like a plague by now (I would too); so rather than raging, I want to get some more discussion/idea’s going for Ele improvements (so I’m posting here, instead of the suggestions forums).

My idea is fairly simple. Evasive Arcana is too powerful (currently). So powerful that any build variation will always be inferior without it.
Also, the 25 point trait of the different attunement are uninteresting and don’t belong (i.e. enduring damage in earth and bountiful power in water).

So the idea goes like this:

  1. Remove Evasive Arcana (keep reading!).
  2. Replace the passive 25 trait of each elemental tree to the element specific evasion effect of evasive arcana.
  3. Replace Arcana 25 with Bountiful Power (current water 25) – Arcana is the boon duration tree after all!
  4. Replace Acana XI with the current Arcana 25 (perhaps a 60% chance to apply attunement based condition on crit)

This could make our build choices a lot more interesting (and make sense at the same time). I know the devs don’t take player advice very often (or so it feels) but if it reaches them, I hope this provides food for thought.

Other classes have a similar trait.

That’s fine (although, I don’t know how said classes feel about it) but all the more reason to change it – increase diversity!

@Zelyhn, fair enough (I’ll admit that’s not my play-style so I’m a little bias) but ele’s do have other options for that. Also, (from interviews etc.) I know Anet prefer mechanics that favour the community at large (pve/pvp/wvw) instead of a small portion of players – so this could be worth the change (even if its a nerf i.m.o)

Earth 25 trait

I’m not a hardcore build-crafter or anything like that but…
Does anyone else feel like this trait forces a limitation on you?
Earth 25 trait: “Deal 10% more damage when your endurance is full.”

I was trying to see of I could make a fun, full-earth line build for pvp/wvw, but this trait bothers me too much. I love dodging and I don’t want to feel punished for it. Even if Anet changed this to something simple like “+5% damage to crippled foes”, it would probably be an overall damage reduction but I wouldn’t be discouraged from using a core mechanic.

Is it just me or would ele’s see more diversity by changing this?
