First of all, don’t use off-hand axe until the buff it or something. Whirling axe is one of the worst skills we have atm, and is only half decent when stacking boons or conditions. 3 attacks with main-hand axe beats the damage of whirling axe, and you aren’t sitting there literally twirling on the spot for 4 seconds. Dual strike is OK, but you don’t really need the 8s fury if you’re running sig of rage.
I am assuming your standard combo is Imob – 100b.
In that case, you should probably be using offhand mace or shield to get that stun/knockdown as immobilize is very volatile, and in some cases, very hard to land.
Warhorn is always good for the blast finisher and cure conditions as well, but obviously, is more defensive.
Hello everyone Keeth here, I was talking with some guildies the other day, most being old GW1 Vets, and we came to a conclusion that GW2, even though it has so much stuff PvE wise, it is significantly lacking satisfying PvP content. The main issue, for me atleast, is that it is very hard to play with friends/guildies in PvP, without going in to paid tourneys. I recently thought of several ways to improve the PvP in this game, while simultaneously adding to the PvE experience as well.
I understand you don’t want to read a long, boring, ‘Tl;DR’ letter, so will try and keep it as concise as possible.
1. Duels.
In many MMO’s, there is the famous option to duel another player, in any place, at any time. If someone looks at you wrong, or disses your totally cool weapon/armor set, you challenge them to a duel and show them whats up.
Gw2 lacks this feature, which for many people, can be the highlight of the game, but I don’t think it would be simple enough to add a feature that every other MMO has. Gw2 from the time they announced it, was intended to be a ‘new take on MMO gameplay,’ and simply adding a rusty feature for old gamers to enjoy, will not cut it. I propose a style of this, similar to dueling, but not quite the same. A Brawl.[name not permanent.]
In a Brawl, two teams of 1-5 players, depending on the size of the parties involved, will face off in a regular ‘fight to the death’ match any place, any time. To avoid running from fights and leading your opponent across a wide area, the brawl will have a depicted zone, similar to the ones found in capture events. The size of the arena will vary, depending on the number of people involved, and players will be able to choose from 3 different types of victories, Ring Out, No Respawns, or Kill Tickets[each death costs a ticket, run out of tickets, you lose.] The brawls will be showed on the map, and players in the area will be notified when it is taking place.
2. Guild Battles.
Many of the Gw1 vets will agree with me here, Guild Wars needs Guild Battles. For many, this was the highlight of their time in Gw1, to be able to round up the 7 best players in your guild, and show superiority over the other guilds in the world. Not only was this mode fun, it was challenging and required real strategy to make the perfect team.
For those of you that never played Gw1, Guild Battles, and the variant Alliance Battles, were 8 vs 8 siege modes, in which each team had to protect their castle and their key target[who’s name escapes me]. The fight played out similar to the way WvWvW works, without the massive 500 player cap on each side, and did not involve capturing supply depots or anything like that, but it was simple, and a truly fun game mode, which for me, is disappointing that they left it out.
GB and AB would be played with PvE OR PvP armor to make it fair for the lower levels that wish to enjoy the experience, but still allowing higher level players to show off their prestigious character.
I believe that adding even one of these, will greatly improve the experience for old and new players and will allow players to show off their PvE prestige in a simple, yet entertaining PvP game type.
I see a lot of people saying that warrior is uninteresting and boring, feeling like you mash skills and kill things. I main a warrior, and I find warrior has the most versatility over any class, if you need something done in a dungeon, whether its tanking or just straight dps, throw a warrior in there, or pair one with any other class, and the job gets done.
I find my warrior incredibly fun to play for the fact that you have 10 different weapons to choose from, whatever and however you feel like playing, you can swap your entire play style on the fly. Dual swords + longbow for incredible cond dmg, Hammer + dual maces for the most cc on any class in the entire game, or Greatsword + axe and mace, for the most dps in the game.
I also like the fact that warrior has so many physical skills, like Kick and Stomp, and also, each weapon has its own form of Crowd Control excluding Greatsword, but that is purely for dps, I really enjoy how using regen banners and rifle/longbow can make you seem like a support role, then whip out a high dps weapon eg. Greatsword, and still be very effective.
Warriors can also be tanky too, with several invuln skills, a passive regen, vit + toughness boosting, blocks, stuns, and knockdowns, and also several jumps and sprints, it doesn’t focus on directly taking dmg and healing back up like a guardian, but more on preventing the enemy from even hitting you in the first place.
Warrior was the first character I made, and I haven’t gotten bored of him yet, I even stopped and tried to level a guardian and a thief to 80, but I always come back to my warrior.
People will disagree, but if you enjoy ripping people apart with the highest controlled dps in the game, but still have the ability to support a teammate if he/she gets caught out of place or fill any role your team needs, then warrior is definitely for you.
TL;DR Warrior does everything except cast spells and stealth.
