Well I guess I missed a lot of the “doom-and-gloom” days. VIG started on Day 1, but we decided to try out ESO and have returned since the new year and are back to our havoc squad ways. There’s been a lot of great smaller-scale fights in the lower tiers, especially against SIN from Kaineng.
SOR has been winning the last few weeks and we all seem to be having a lot of fun in the BLs.

Great fights this week SOS and SBI!
VIG is likely the oldest (since day 1) SOR 5-10 man havoc team that likes to roam and fight. Special shoutout to BEAST over the weekend as they kept coming out looking to scrap with us.

Great skirmish yesterday Opp with your 4-man team against our 3. A 4th VIG did end up eventually joining us which evened things up and helped us win that fight. When we run a 3-5 person havoc team we rarely run into other single-group teams that put up such a good fight. /salute

Great 3-way fights in Blackgate BL last night. We enjoyed hosting a big party for BG and JQ on the Bay grounds. Salute from VIG.

Just chilling with some friends…..
…nothing to see here……..
SCORE UPDATE!
And when mean SoR zerg finds us!
Oops?
Sanctum of Rall
I’m not sure if there is some kind of glitch with how Anet identifies and bans players for botting, but a long-standing guildmate of mine was wrongfully banned yesterday. I’ve gamed with this person for 12 years and know that she couldn’t possibly bot because she quite frankly doesn’t know how. She’s not particularly tech savy so the notion that she’s been banned for this would be somewhat amusing if it weren’t for the fact that the situation is pretty distressing for her.

Hopefully this gets resolved quickly. From the looks of some other posts, it seems she isn’t the only one.

It is not about SOR. (run that again in your head one more time).
Its about the game as enjoyment, Wvw as it is played and three server communities that make up a Tier and in this case Tier 2. What you argue is good for SOR is not good for the tier…… for the rest of us in this thread. There is no solid argument any of you have made to convince me of that. Now it may be that the Tier’s health, problems and fun quotient is not really your problem or concern.
At least be honest about it.
Like I said, when this shakes out, TC most likely won’t be in T2 anymore anyways to worry about this. I suspect you will be back in T3 due specifically to 2 other servers on the way up.
I suspect karma will catch up with SOR and you are actually better off hiding in T2. TC got here and made it here without a mass wagon train. I doubt we are going anywhere….. and whenever we end up we will be giving all we have and never opting to avoid a fight because it might be difficult somewhere else.
there is a word for that……just saying.
Your post is nonsense.
SoR got to T2 and was on the receiving end of two servers with vastly superior coverage for months, and never gave up. We also made it here with out the ‘mass wagon’ train and in fact actually lost people over that time frame.
So yeah you are right, Karma will catch up with SoR. It already has. We finally got the coverage we were lacking.
I have a question that is easily going to be construed as offensive or something by some sensitive people so let me EMPHASIZE that I am purely asking because I honestly don’t know and have always been curious:
Was SoR a transfer destination at some point? I remember SoR was a T5 or T6 server for a few weeks following release (I distinctly remember an SoR/NSP/Yaks match that was ridiculously close right up to the finish), and then suddenly you guys shot up. I do know CDS was ex-SBI and TW were from JQ, but was there ever some sort of organized move to SoR? What about the other major WvW guilds?
Honestly interested in some of the history here.
It was pure coincidence. CDS got tired of 4 hour queues on SBI, and wanted to try something new to rebuild our guild community. (We had a bad leader at the time). We picked SoR because we had a member in CDS who spoke highly of GSCH, and how the server was named after Roger “Oldroar” Rall, a deceased member of GSCH. I found it inspiring and heart touching, so we voted for SoR.
Then TW showed up the next week..ugh… ( <3 )
Some of the reasoning for certain guilds transferring to SOR a few months ago can be traced to pre-release. Several guilds that had played together in previous games (DAOC, WAR, Aion, Rift etc.) were deciding on which servers to pick. The voting mostly came down to JQ or SOR with most going to JQ and a few going to SOR. SOR sort of became the backup choice.

To the OP, its a very solid, survivable build. I’ve played a very similar build in the past and am currently trying out a 0/0/30/20/20 build, which I find works better with traited meditations over shouts. I still slot traited SYS, along with JI and Smite Condition and use full runes of Dwayna for added regen and regen duration.
It is also quite survivable, and the extra source of healing from meditations can be quite nice for countering spike damage. Comboing Shield of Wrath + SYS + JI + WW/BB + Smite Condition can really help break an enemy force’s line.

Good fights with SBI in SBI BL tonight (9PM 12AM EST). Miasmic and I were the two commanders from SOR leading the Bay-Garrison shuffle.

/Salute to the TC and BG players in TC BL tonight. It was fun fighting alongside old friends and foes (Vig, KT, TW, RLL, IRNY) from DAOC Guinevere and Warhammer Phoenix Throne.

Vigilance [VIG], Knight Templars [KT] and friends had a lot of fun squaring off against PRX last night in SOR BL. A lot of good tactics, countering and intense fighting from both sides with IOJ occasionally showing up as a wild card. We managed to end the night retaking Garrison and swiping Bay Keep, but couldn’t breach Hills.

Well speaking as the commander leading in SoR Border last night from about 10pm EST to 1am EST, it was extremely difficult for us at first. SoS had all the towers and keeps upgraded and littered with seige. We kept the pressure on Longview/Cliffside, but couldn’t take them (almost had Cliffside once) so bounced to DB and had outer almost down when the patch came out.
While some were ready to give up, many of us wanted back in with a vengeance and we figured we could at least take a tower before the heavy SoS defense came out again. We took Cliff without any opposition. Garrison went down with just a few defenders…we ended up all-capping the place in less than an hour.
There were no hacks, or an influx of transfers or a big Oceanic guild involved. It was just the regular SoR NA crew staying up late and not getting distracted by the Halloween stuff. For whatever reason, SoS didn’t come out to defend a fully capped zone, though we did notice a heavy presence in EB.

Elthurien, several RvR-focused guilds with a long history together from WAR/DAOC had wanted to join up on the same server, but ended up splitting choices. Tempest Wolves, Irony and most of the DAOC vets chose Jade Quarry while Vigilance, Knight/War Templars and Reveille le Lion decided on SoR to avoid the anticipated queues (and because Fog invited us).
I believe their intent was to get away from the massive queues on Jade Quarry and join up with the rest of us. It has nothing to do with any of the recent successful wins on SoR.
As for balance, it will come through moving up in tiers.

Congrats to Yaks on the strong start, but this match is far from over.
Sanctum of Rall
To NS and Yaks,
/salute from Vigilance [Vig]. It’s been a great week as worthy adversaries and this match has been the best one yet.

SoR WvW population and guilds haven’t noticeably changed. Operation: Kill Red-Shirt is just going really well due to SF (our main primetime competitors) having an extremely reduced presence these past 2-3 days.

Let’s not have this thread get out of hand. We’re actually pretty fortunate compared to other tiers when it comes to relatively similar WvW population and time coverage. Sure there are differences, but the points reflect a fairly good match overall across the three servers.
I’ve seen some great improvement in SoR in the past week alone and hope that this continues. Some of us were originally going to Jade Quarry with the other guilds we know from previous games, but came here to avoid queues with the understanding that we wouldn’t start in the top tiers. The fact that we can help improve the standing of this smaller server and have some good fights is something to be proud of.
Sanctum of Rall
Sorrow’s Furnace beat us last week, but SoR outscored them the week before and won against them in the 24-hour match up we had previous to the weekly set up.
Sanctum of Rall
SoR actually has a very weak Oceanic/European presence and its usually NA players staying up really really late for when you see some kind of resistance at those times.
The complaints (and counter-arguments) I read here are the same elsewhere. Having points scale to the total number of active players in the zone at the time of the tally would be an easy way to settle things for all time zones. Additional points for kills would be gravy.
Whether that happens or not, I’m having fun with my guild doing the kind of pvp we haven’t had since WAR and DAOC. A bunch of guilds on SoR, like Knight Templars and Reveille le Lion, are vets from those games and went through the ups and downs. Maybe that’s why we aren’t so demoralized when we get “night-capped” by other servers we’ve been matched against. Who cares if there’s a big point deficit? When we do log in we’ll be having fun bombing, flanking, taking objectives and bringing the fight to whoever we’re up against.
To SF and DH, if you see a Guardian at the front of a bunch of [VIG]s and friends, that’s me saying “hey you’re about to get bombed” and “come at me bro!”
