Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

Disappointed and aggravated with the design decisions on progression here, for multiple reasons.

Putting all traits and skills in the single line not only continues the annoying “hey we’re simplifying it” trend, but also reeks of “how can we make them play this game longer so we can squeeze more money out of them.”

I was already hooked and enjoying WvW and looking forward to elites (gj, marketing team). These design decisions actually prompt me to wish for something else to play, after being let down.

I’ll continue to WvW, and maybe I’ll eventually unlock an elite, but really I’m just waiting for another game now.

I think that a good WvW group build is going to be more focused on a particular role, rather than trying to cover multiple roles. You end up “not having a spot in the meta” because you aren’t specializing enough in one role.

Engie has so many fun tools to use, it can be hard to focus.

Played in WvW some last night, spec’d for frontline duty. Definitely had some fun!

Hammer:
Concur on Hammer #3. Sometimes unpredictable, and that pause at the end is a real problem.

Gyro’s:
almost none of the gyro’s really made me want to use them for the wvw frontline role. Purge one tempted me, for the poison cloud toolbelt skill.

Traits:
Decisive Renown (2nd minor Scrapper trait) — not a fan of this at all. Need something with more utility in this slot, that will actually help you while you are fighting things, like just about every other minor trait out there. Lotsa lost potential in this slot.

Please proceed with caution, Devs.

There were several changes in the Sept 9th patch (mainly level-progression stuff) that just reeked of “hey let’s change something because if we aren’t changing something then we must not be doing our jobs.”

There’s certainly room for some positive tweaks to WvW, but “let’s make defending more active/rewarding by getting rid of the white swords” is a bit misguided.

Personal Story - Gone from UI

Leveled Necro to 24, decided to go back to do Personal Story (very first mission) and it is broken, won’t advance.

I understand the thought behind the change that was made, but the implementation is awkward and impacts the game experience negatively.

It really feels like a “changing something for the sake of change” kinda thing, instead of something that was carefully thought through.

I just persuaded a couple of my buddies (experienced MMO players) to play GW2 finally, and can confirm they were a little put off by the personal story disappearing on them.

Players don’t all need to be hand-held. Give them choices, instead of forcing them to play on the rails you’ve created.
