Two people in my guild made the legendary they got the precursor for. One of them got the one they wanted – they were tossing thousands of daggers into the mystic forge and got it that way – and the other got the shortbow precursor in a drop and decided to just go for it, even though their ranger wasn’t their main.
Sorry, Shuguard, I was referring to mexay in my demanding comment.
I agree, though I also don’t like you demanding things.
In the Diessa Plains puzzle mission, we had someone fall off their platform at the curtains and die. Two of us went to go rez him – and all three of us were then locked out of the next room. You need at least six people to do that part of the puzzle, and the rest of the guild can’t come back through that door, so we were screwed. I don’t like the fact that we got punished for helping someone else out.
I do understand ANet doesn’t want someone to just be able to run straight through after the guild unlocks each section. Perhaps an option would be to close the main door after a period of time and then allow people to go back to a checkpoint where the rest of the guild is. Or that teleporter idea, that could work too.
There’s no other way to get laurels, no. The monthly is usually pretty easy to get just by playing the game, imo. The dailies usually require a bit of effort or planning – I’ll go explore/level in a certain area, for instance, in order to finish a regional daily, even if I was originally going to play in a different area. I will occasionally skip a daily if the options are things I don’t really want to do that day or I have very, very little time to play.
For suggestions on where to do some of the dailies, check out http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Daily If there are specific ones you’re having issues with, perhaps post here and people can give suggestions.
If you’re not willing to adjust your playstyle slightly, though, get used to having no laurels. Most of the items are available elsewhere, though I believe it’s the only place to get ascended necklaces.
Are you diversifying? That’s an important aspect of any investment. I often see people find a good market and stick to it, never branching out. Then when the market changes, they’re stuck.
Also, sort of like Play said, pay attention to what people are posting, both here and at other sites. You might not get ‘insider’ information, but you can often hear about things that are coming a few days/weeks in advance. It’s risky, but if you diversify and put only a small amount of your money into the speculation, you can handle the risk.
Finally, lots of markets are pretty steady. The lower level crafting ingredients especially don’t move up and down very much or very often. They’re also very high demand/supply markets, so you can move your stuff fast. If you’re worried about money, check the past month’s data on gw2spidy, and pick something that hasn’t changed a lot, but still makes a profit.
My favorite armor site: Edited – apparently, the site I linked to is having some problems with unintended redirects to a NSFW site if you don’t use Noscript or a similar javascript blocker. So sorry for anyone who clicked on the link and got that!
There are several others, but I really like the ability to change the colors in this one. Anyway, I actually really like certain heavy armors, but a lot of them have a similar look. My favorites are the crafted Draconic set and the gem shop Primeval set.
For light, it’d be easier to list the ones I don’t like. :P And medium has some nice ones, but the ones I like best are either faction or cultural armor.

1. A robust cosmetic system. Last game I played, you could wear absolutely any piece of armor in the game cosmetically, plus a bunch of cosmetic-only pieces. You could have several saved outfits and change which one you’re wearing on the fly. Best cosmetic system I’ve seen, and I miss it in every other game I play.
2. Though the game had a lot of problems, the monster data collection from AO that FateOmega mentioned was a ton of fun and very interesting. You could give the data you had to other players, too.
3. Though I don’t really want a trinity system in GW2, I really wish you could go full support in a group. I love being a healer/buffer, and wish that was a ‘main role’ option here.
4. Pets/minions for all classes. Been done poorly a lot of times, but a few games have really hit the sweet spot (at least until a patch comes). I don’t know that it’d really fit in GW2, but I’d love to see it done if it was well done.
5. Ability to put consumable on hotbars. What the heck, why can’t we have two-four hotbar slots to link things we want to use in combat, like the spy kit/other consumables?
6. Auto-follow. Sometimes you need to go to the bathroom/check on the baby/answer the door because the cops are there and it’d be nice to be able to follow your party.
