No, Necromancer downstate is worse, one interrupt for 1 second. Engineers still have 2.
Not to mention Necromancers get 2 bug fixes(w nerfs) on top of finding 4-10 more bugs after each patch. Anet is really dropping the ball on these bug fixes. I like necromancer and engi, but since engi has less bugs i play my engi.
Not to mention stability stomps will basically ignore any interrupts other than mesmers and thieves.

No i’m saying a GC thief with AS/BS shouldn’t be able to global a 3k armored profession who tries to build tanky and sacrifices damage to be more tanky.
Also i only talk in the context of tPvP, on Khylo where it is about divide and conquer there is no profession better than the thief to basically kill someone in 2 seconds and then run to the next point while the bunker stomps.
If you are seriously saying that 11k backstab is fair on a 3k armored player then I guess I have much more to learn about fighting against thieves. Either way my team like any high tier team is now also running a AS+BS roaming thief until they’re somewhat tweaked.
Nothing really OP about thieves. A good knockdown is ALL a warrior needs to kill a thief. Glass cannons are glassy, what can I say.
I’ve fought some pretty good Necromancers, I’d say their lifesteal ability is much more imba than stealth …
Lifesteal more imba than stealth… You have to be one of the only people who even thinks that. They leech at most 34-50 health per HIT.
If you’re trying to defend Assassin Signet + BS, then you’re obviously trolling. If you’re one of those thieves who know the restealth bug in spvp then you’re obviously trolling.
No one should be able to, not even a glass cannon, should be able to hit you for 10,000+ damage with backstab on a person with 3,000 armor. I play a necro and I don’t have access to all the good cc breakers or even a fear that lasts longer than 1 second. Thieves atm are the BEST at what they do. They’re not the best 1v1ers but they will kill anyone they choose with AS+BS when roaming.
We just for fun ran the pure glasscannon AS+BS and started 100-0 every possible profession within 2-4 seconds. We will be posting videos about this. So people can see how real this is.
I don’t want thieves to be overnerfed, but no class should be able to global a full on tank. For necromancers my cc breakers are on an incredibly long cd, so i don’t have them up a good amount of the time.

Yea hopefully they wont drop the ball on this one. I have 3k armor and i was backstabbed from 10-14k damage. That’s assuming you’re not under 50%. Arena net is really taking their time. tPvP teams are taking advantage of this because everyone is doing it. On top of the stealth exploit.
It seems like almost every team including some of the more big teams are abusing this bug. Where they go back invisible within the second of opening on top of the issue where they cannot see you while you are doing your opening. I have reported this bug many times and I still have yet to see a response. I would really like Anet post to address this. Exploits are a bannable offense.
To those who do exploit and enjoy staying in stealth near 95% of the time kudos to you. I haven’t seen anyone who has posted on this issue for 2 weeks. I don’t care about HS or BS , I really would like this bug fixed. I will post a vid on this soon. Have multiple perspectives of the same thief invisible for 90% of the time.
I don’t remember GW1 becoming an esport or seeing it in any of the major gaming leagues.

The private/rent servers will probably promote third party Leagues. Reminds me of the good old days where i had to scour iRC to find someone to scrim or the CAL leagues for Counter-strike.

I completely agree on the bugs. The bugs really must dealt with. When you have more than 70 severe bugs on Necro and the pace that they’re fixing them(like 1 a week and then 5 more bugs) I don’t want a ranking system instated until the bugs have been fixed.
On that note a ranking system would be the next logical step. I do not care whatsoever at this moment for other gimicky game modes. With ranking systems we can take a look at the self proclaimed “pro” teams are where they say they’re at and to see where we individually and as teams are at.

I have seen those interviews and I don’t believe they put an exact date. No wonder you’re so clueless. At this point of time it is too early to tell. Try waiting at LEAST 2-3 months before you make baseless conclusions.

So you’re basically pulling those modes out of context as if it was something that originated in the MMO genre? Basically from what I am understanding is since every other game has these modes that Guild Wars should have it too. MMO game development takes much more time than other genres, with collision and other graphics design for new modes and new maps.
So the blog wasn’t up to par with your expectations? I wasn’t completely happy about it, but I was content at least that they had the common decency to at least give us somewhat of an update.
You want a ranking system? The professions aren’t at a current state where they are bug free and tweaked. Quit your complaining and give it time. You’re not paying a monthly and you have already received your moneys worth.

Its like if the Next Modern Warfare game was released but didn’t have half the features it said it would. This game is no different. It s a B2P game, so compare it to other B2P games. What other (good)B2P game tells you it will have features but than when you buy it, it does not? Oh and then they tell you its coming “some time” and “when its ready”. How is it that they can say “when its ready” than release the game in an unready state, then come back and say “when its ready” for when they are going to give us the features they told us would be in the game in the first place.
And can you tell me what features are specifically missing that they promised specifically? Maybe you can educate me because I cannot find anything that they promised on the main site about the product that I have not already recieved?

Necros were actually nerfed haha. Because they mainly fixed the Necros bugs that helped them more than putting them at a disadvantage. It is now harder to build up life force with the nerf to BoP.
And no, bunkers aren’t a very smart idea atm. High tier teams now zerg with high damage/condition and put constant pressure on points. So bunker are already being pushed out. Only bad teams run 2 bunkers and lucky for you most teams are bad.
And what is wrong with Rock, Paper, Scissors? There should be no perfect build and no perfect team comp. Some playstyles should be able to beat others.
So what would be an acceptable timeline that they should instate these changes and additions. Are you seriously complaining about a F2P game that has really accomplished what most MMO’s have not and have been P2P?
In what context are you basing these complaints with self-righteous crying? Are you saying that some other game has released all these additions when they were first released within a month? Was it WoW? Was it League of Legends? Was it SWTOR?
Vanilla had no sort of “Arenas” and Even league only recently instated Spectator mode, not to mention League only really had 2 modes and started with a handful of champions. I mention League because it probably is the 2nd biggest Esport game atm second to SC2. These things take time and Anet wants to make sure everything is up to par. I know no other company who responds to the community like Anet. So quit your kittening.
Right now all i want is the bugs to be fixed and a bit more tuning in the professions. It’s still a little over a month since the games release. If you really are unhappy go back to your pandas in WoW.
15% was kind of harsh, although i still think Quickness+ PW + Immobilize will still global almost anyone.

Unfortunately I main a necromancer and we start with no life force. Thieves have a longer fear than Necros. On top of that with plague signet being nerfed/not being able to be casted to someone behind you, we’re kind of screwed. There is also perma stealth bug that most thieves have been abusing in tPvP. I know this is an exploit, but it hasn’t stopped anyone from using it.
There are OP professions but there are also unprepared players.
Thieves and mesmers(shatter) have many openings that they can use to basically gib me, even with 3k armor. (Hopefully divinity runes are actually fixed). I should not go down just because I’m not a guardian in one burst. I sacrifice damage for armor, yet that armor can’t keep me up. Why is it that one mistake leads me to being downed, while thieves have many “retries” to down me. BTW i only have problems with thieves who abuse the stealth bug where they can go back into stealth within a second.
I have recordings of most of my tournament matches to make sure i saw it correctly.
ATM the stealth debuff bug is my only complaint for thieves. While for mesmers trying to dodge a magic bullet(nearly instant travel time) → immobilize → phantasm damage → Shatter for 13k + bleeds on a 3k armored character is pretty kitten powerful.
As you say i was prepared and used a stun break, unfortunately my shortest stun break on necro is 1min(not traited) while that combo that mesmers can be done 4 times b4 i get my next stun break up. Basically its a guessing game to when hes gonna pull off the combo.

Really I still see 3-4 mesmers each match in pugs and haven’t seen a team without a mesmer yet in tournament play today. Even my team still runs our mesmer.
I like to think the bugs as a handicap, although when my corruptions fail to go off I do get kitten off, winning a duel makes it that much sweeter. I enjoy my necromancer and if you do then play it, if you don’t roll and alt. The way it looks we’ll be looking at bugs and being under powered for a while(Fix one bug make five more).
I can’t wait to see what anet has in store for necs. If they fix the bugs alone, I think I will be tearing through tpvp even more.
Wow that’s a pretty terrible build..
Toughness unfortunately doesn’t stop thieves from critting you with backstab for an incredible amount. I have 3k armor and i still get 8-10k crit on backstab as necro. Unfortunately after they have burned your fear and thieves exploiting stealth bug it definitely is a hard fight. Not to mention Thieves have a longer fear on one ability than all of Necromancers abilities combined and we also don’t have any trustworthy stability. It is definitely an uphill battle but you can out play a thief usually. Well of Darkness buys you 5 seconds, but will not blind enough if they pop quickness. If you have life force built up there is almost no chance that the thief can kill you.
Necro is my main, and the biggest weakness for us is that we start with no profession ability and is near impossible to build up in the tournament setting. Just wait for Arenanet to fix our 80+ bugs and a better way of generating life force xD. Until then, look to out play them. Remember 80% of our abilities are aoe with scep/dag, staff, you should be guessing where they will be. 95% of thieves are bad even through exploiting stealth.
To those Stealth bug abusers you can go f yourselves for exploiting and i will be waiting for you in tpvp to beat you down kthx.
Necros still have over 100 known bugs and still is the most lackluster professions in the game, with the lowest duration fear compared to other professions.
Your tier list is missing a crucial element.
I would rate the professions
S Tier(have to run with in tournament)
-Mesmer(They have it all plus portals that port you while in combat in and out)
-Guardian(Can do it all also plus heal and give Stability/retaliation to group)
A Tier(Very good fillers for roles)
-Thieves(Very slippery, most mobile profession in the game, Amazing burst with whatever build you choose)
-Elementalist(With staff has guardians book 5 on a lower cd basically almost unmovable off a point and can also destroy treb 1v2 and get away fine, Burst builds are very mobile w/ great heals and finishing capabilities)
-Warriors(100 blades anyone? Yes its one of the hardest skills to land, but man if you get hit by it you dead. Also an incredibly mobile profession, has high cc capabilities with hammer/mace)
-Engineers(Counter to many glass cannnon builds other than mesmer, Can hold nodes 1v1/2 with potential to win, also has many cc options plus blinds)
Everything below(Needs tuning)
Rangers( They’re not bad, but every other proffession does what a ranger can but better)
Necromancer(Very good support/condi professions, but man their buggy skillskitten me off. As a previous poster said if they could fix the bugs, Necromancer can counter so many tanky/condition teams)
For a release Anet has done a better job than any other company for the first month. Tweaking is definitely needed though.
I think Guardians unless they nerf them to hell will always be a very desirable profession in tournament, but I would say Guardians and Warriors, really are the closest to completion. Can’t wait to see how Gw2 grows.
Thieves still have a lot of matchup problems atm. They have almost no chance to kill a node defender engi and any decent guardian. Toughness plus smart dodges will protect you from it. Now you pair up thieves with some knockbacks i can definitely see why you would complain as you are on the floor for 5 seconds, but that is just a good team synergy.
I was complaining about mesmers, and the way my team is dealing with the repair kit teleporting is we use a mesmer to counter their teleport. Portal is probably imo the most useful skill in the game atm for tournament. You cannot run without one and win. We have won our last 60 games and have lost only once for tournaments. Do i think mesmers are still incredibly powerful? Yes.. but you have to live with it and find ways to cope. As a node defender engi, i probably still lose to a mesmer 1v1 90% of the time and if hes a good mesmer probably 100% of the time. Trying to stay alive till help comes is what i just hope for. I’m still trying to practice that matchup and will update if i find a way to beat them consistantly.
One of their weakness are though they can’t sit on the node and defend it. It is very easy to push em off. Against even teams pushing someone off a node can result in a loss. Unless they have mass invisibility in which they can buy a lot of time.
The info does not help whatsoever. I used to main Mesmer and I ran a tanky shatter build. Play an engineer node defender. Out of any profession I probably have one of the better match ups other than thieves. I was dueling my friend on his Mesmer s,p/gs. Dueled him about 50 times I beat him probably twice. I tried destroying phantasms, but my condition build doesn’t let me destroy them In a timely manner. Phantasms are spread out because duelist and berserk er have different attack ranges. I can’t shoot through the massive amounts of clones even though I can spot the real one within .4 secs. I’m stunned and the illusions are shattered on me. While every so often being confused. If matters are not worse I’m slowly being worn down by bleeds by clones.
My friend is definitely a good Mesmer, but this is the only match up I can’t beat without luck or support. I’m also being shattered for 7k even though he’s hybrid through my 1800 toughness. The conclusion I’ve come to is that the only way to beat a Mesmer is to literally gib them with massive amounts of damage while avoiding most of it. That class is probably thieves.

When they start going for the trebuchet, that’s usually how I lose. Cuz then the mesmer cycle begins, and we’re a man down.
Yes we have. It always comes down to their treb smacking us once and we’re on the backfoot of a team fight. Because one shot from a treb will be 10-14k damage. A lot of teams are running much tankier builds on Khylo. I play every class to rank 35, but i have abandoned thieves, rangers and mesmers because its tookittenboring and skill cap is too low. I can 1v2 on my mesmer like no ones buisness and i dont even have to use Moa. I use a shatter build on my Mesmer with 1800 toughness with 1800+ power using sword/pistol/staff. I currently main a node defender/condi engi, which i find a lot of fun. I have never lost a 1v1 on mesmer other than fighting another mesmer. I still don’t complain about a nerf other than portal for mesmer because I still can beat a mesmer 1v1 4-5/10 times. I have to pull out all stops to kill him though. I say mesmers arent too overpowered because to me engis have a very high skill cap and i have not mastered it.
But you are fighting without treb support because they will definitely go for it. I have tried exactly what you have said. We try to reinforce the outer points since most treb shooters are pretty bad. But we lose miserably because treb will always shoot on Nodes. So their node holder will always sit on node and kite on node. And yes the splash on node is large enough to hit you on node or a little out of it. We fight an uphill battle where they have 1 always on treb when we don’t. 1 node holder can defend suddenly against 3 because all they need to do is hide on their node.
Lets say that I don’t have a mesmer and they do.
Lets say this I have one on my treb, one on my close point, and one on clock, plus 2 roamers. Mesmers don’t need to be glass cannon to do a lot of damage with a shatter build. They will definitely go for our treb while supporting their points with treb. You cannot 1v1 a mesmer with everyclass, but you can use a support ele to destroy treb and leave unscathed and then hold point.(But this assuming you are running a staff ele) They destroy your treb, you go for med kit but their roamers know that you ‘re going for it. On the other hand the mesmer goes for theirs and instantly repairs and start reinforcing their points once more with treb(most likely their clock tower since its the easiest thing to hit with treb). Lets say that they don’t try kill your guy whos trying to grab repair kit. It takes about 20-30 seconds for him to go there and grab it. Means that their team has 15 second advantage of treb support. Through this they keep pushing their advantage.
Meaning only way to keep up with them is to grab a portal mesmer also to even it out.
Mesmers are the best 1v1 profession in the game right now and can get away from almost anything as you said to counter cap AND grab repair kit and get back. So balanced!

Oh, by all means, go destroy the trebuchet! Even WITHOUT a Mesmer, you won’t make it to a point before it’s repaired again, and you’re back in that situation.
Luckily for you, and me, and everyone, you can also stand on the point and use your endurance. You can also move out of the way. You can do a whole lot of things.
I would, for example, stay ranged and down him, walk in and finish. Capture point. Win gaymz. And let’s not forget, that your team consists of 5 players, while their team consists of 4, and a trebuchet! The trebuchet can’t capture points, and it can’t hold them either. It can besiege assaulted points, but moving is key in Guild Wars 2, so in the end of the day, if you’re playing properly (which you are, from now on), you’ll capture the point.
If the trebuchet had cannon fire speed however, I wouldn’t be able to.
Now you know which siege weapons to fear, and which ones not to fear.
Do you not play tournament? In what occasion unless in dire circumstances would i leave my point? Do you not use roamers? Instant repairing and walking a repair kit takes a lot longer. A support staff ele can easily destroy a treb, but its about buying time before they repairing again. You dont buy any time when their mesmer instantly repairs.
So while defending a node, you just walk off the node and let them cap it? I see…resulting in them capping my point or neutralizing my point. Hrm… that works.

If they have pushed me off my point then they have successfully won that skirmish. A node defender whos not able to defend their node has failed their job. Especially if theresa node defender guardian or support staff ele on the node. It is nearly impossible to push them off with the treb supporting them.

So you’re saying dodge the treb shots rather than dodging out of the way of the enemy you’re fighting. So dying to the other player is better than treb?
To be honest the best way for you to learn is to play a Mesmer yourself, find some Theives to fight and see how (and if) you usually beat thieves. Then go back to your Thief with that new knowledge to your advantage and use it against Mesmer opponents.

Hi there, depending on my build and cd’s I have, the opening burst is the worst, don’t use condition damage as null field removes them all, what I would suggest is to feint an open up from stealth just stun them but don’t blow all your cd,s just to panicky the Mesmer into using cd,s then restealth they may pop decoy stealth if so great that’s a cd used, then hit them again with your main burst, they may try to Mao morph watch for the long animation and evade like crazy, if he has a sword (one hander) watch out for the sword blur skill they evade everything and can deal quite a bit of dps. But my best advice is to pick on one that is preoccupied, we can get over stretched sometimes, if you see a Mesmer evade rolling around (usually on the outskirts of a control point) that’s the one you want, his illusions will be focused on something else then you can take him down very easily, that is usually when I get gibbed, when I am focused on someone else and then boom dead and the death screen reads 14k pistol whip.

You don’t have to waste your big cds, you have too many small cds to use first. If you are 1v1ing that means your team is constantly telling you where the other players are. Moa can be casted while stealthed. If you see them roll then just cast cancel. They use all their endurance then you Moa. Thieves are at a big disadvantage against mesmers.
I don’t see thieves that overpowered, although the bug where they’re still stealthed and attacking you gets annoying. Thieves are outclassed very easily by many tanky builds ands professions. They have almost no chance of killing a decent guardian, engi, support ele, mesmers.
You can’t dodge all treb shots…
That’s saying that you’re not gonna dodge anything from the person you’re fighting. In other words only dodge treb shots, get stunned and trebbed anyways.
I do leave the treb low, and then they go back on it and then i destroy it and then they come back 10 secs later to find it repaired and theyre trebbing again. You have node defenders on points only dps you need are treb shots.

Stop kidding yourselves people. Mesmers portal is broken on khylo. I can 1v2 and win if i have my moa up. My team has finally decided to use a mesmer always on khylo because its the only way to counter their mesmer. So please don’t talk about underpowered players. If I am so bad then please tell me a way to counter instant repair on treb. PLEASE teach me since apparently I am bad.
There should always be a way to counter a profession or a build. Atm its incredibly hard to close out not a good mesmer, but just a mediocre mesmer. Find the real mesmer? It doesn’t matter if you do, because on top of that they have sword 2 which makes them invunerable, or sword 3 which they can swap places and immobilize someone, pistol off hand 5 to stun/daze, staff 2 on 8 seconds to get out of immobilizes and stuns, staff 4 for chaos armor. This is not including utilities on top of this. I know which mesmer is the real one within a second, but that does not matter because they’re harder to kill than any profession in the game without going toughness, but they probably will. On top of that i have to kill their phantasms.
Again if I am just a noob, then please educate the way to fight a mesmer instead of just saying something is balanced without backing it up.
Wtf i feel like you guys don’t play tournament at all. Immobilize doesnt stop a mesmer from dying. Sword 2 makes them invunerable for 3 seconds and they also have staff 2 which blinks them out of immobilize or stuns and is on a 8 second cd(these are not even their utilities). I played mesmers when i first started out on prerelease. It is a very easy class to play because you dont have to sacrifice defense for offense. Like Thieves, mesmers also have the great ability to reset the fight.
They’re a profession that i have never lost a 1v1 with, but at the same time its the hardest profession to fight against 1v1 with other proffs. With defensive skills on such low cds plus damage that doesn’t come from them which means they have a much easier time kiting.
I play a node holder engi atm, which are probably one of the better matchups against a mesmer, and i have to play nearly perfect, while the mesmer has to use barely any effort at all. The best advice i can give to fighting a mesmer is ask for help from a roamer to quickly dispatch the mesmer.
To the OP tell me how to counter portal instant repair on khylo, apparently i’m doing something wrong. Do i camp the treb? Do i put it at low health and then come back, to see that the mesmer has already set another portal? O wait i know, the only way is to use a mesmer myself and do the same strat. Overpowered game mechanics vs overpowered game mechanics works right? I could careless if they don’t nerf mesmers. But instant repairing trebs should not be in the game.
So instant repairing Trebs is fair for mesmers? Or being able to cast phantasms without being LoS is fair? I’m a bit confused if repairing the treb instantly is in any way but game breaking. Only way to counter is with another Mesmer to do the same thing. Atm mesmers are the best 1v1ers in the game. They have the most amount of get aways than any class in terms invunerabilities/teleports/stealth. They have too many ways to survive, without sacrificing damage. In tournament the most successful teams run a mesmer or 2.
I play a bunker engineer, Pistol/shield, and yes i will agree that engineers are pretty powerful, but like an Ele you have to use about 16 abilities to secure your win and they have to be very precise in timing and placement. So a lot of people don’t see them as OP atm mainly because there is a variety of skills being used when they are killed by them. While mesmers have many different ways of handling their foes by either stunning them, dazing, confusing, Staff 2 on like an 8 second cd porting them back plus adding a clone, either a blink or a stealth, invuerability with a sword. They have so many “oh kitten” buttons its like choosing skills out of a buffet. On top of that the many distractions of phantasms + shatters. A mediocre mesmer can almost get out of any situation they please. They have the perfect kit tokitten someone off in a fight. Therefore the countless crying from everyone.
I joined a pug today with 6 mesmers and 6 thieves in one game yesterday. I think i was incapacitated from stunlock/daze/confusion for about 7 seconds. I only say 7 seconds because thats how long i lasted.
I’m hearing a lot of complaints about Moa Morph, which is essentially a 10 second daze on a 3 minute cooldown. IMO there are more dangerous abilities that shut down or cause a change in fight, but Moa is the most powerful 1v1 ability. They could balance it out if it came with a stun-breaker sprint button aside from dodge to give a Moaed person a disengage tool, but that’s just a suggestion. I don’t even use it because it’s not as effective in group fights. Mass Invisibility is a stronger engage/disengage tool for it’s cooldown for my build specifically, but milage between players will vary.
So taking someone out for 10 seconds in a team fight at mid is very minor? Making a 4v4 into a 3v4 is quite disruptive. In tournament there’s a lot of situations where you do come up 1v1. If you’re fighting 1v2 you Moa one and make it a 1v1 situation again.
I personally don’t really see the need to nerf mesmers other than the stupid instant treb repair with portal. Mesmers are a requirement in Khylo or you put your team at an incredible disadvantage.

Actually Eles lose almost 9/10 against a half decent mesmer 1v1. It’s a matchup even a lot of the better teams have expressed. Elementalists are too predictable in their skill setup. And all that mesmer has to do is confuse/daze/shatter and you’re done. Only way to kill a mesmer is to gib them when they’re not looking.
To the OP, supposedly there is a big pvp balance coming soon. We’ll see how arenanet handles it.
Getting stunlocked by multiple thieves is pretty frustrating though. On top of that the basilisk venom prevents you from dodging. Everyone has stunbreakers not everyone has immobilize remove. All you can do is blind.
One shatter mesmer is usually not the problem when you add 1 or 2 more its hard to dodge all of them. The sheer utility of mesmers right now is just broken. In Khylo everyone takes mesmer just for the portal “exploit” or “clever use of game mechanics” to instantly repair the treb. They have Moa which by all means needs a nerf, it removes 1 player from the fight instantly, dead or alive. The berserker phantasm requires no los on target to cast and it casts on top of you. My main beef with mesmers though is the treb repair portals.
Guardians are not op, very easy and straightforward classes. To be honest i would say they’re one of the few balanced professions in the game, with of course a few tweaks for the other under powered professions. Full support Elementalists are actually harder to kill, 2 hasted PW thieves with thieves guild have a hard time bringing one down and all you have to do is roll your face on the keyboard.
