How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?

Anyone who has raided (and I mean actual raiding, not WoW LFR) would tell you that you’re out of your mind. The vast majority of raid leaders will not tolerate toxic behavior in their raid and will immediately kick any toxic player out of their raids. Not only that but the greatest source of conflict in PvE tend to be about loot and DPS meters, which Guild Wars 2 has none of.

Toxic behaviour as in elitism and bragging. Such as displayed by the attitude of the raiding crowd that their preferred game mode is the pinnacle of awesomeness and the only one deserving good rewards for it’s “challenging” while everything apparently isn’t. Challenging is a hillariously subjective thing, though. You could easily argue that some 5-man dungeons I have seen in other games are more difficult than any raid. WvW roaming can be difficult, since you’re usually outmanned and outgunned and it’s pretty hard to survive there. Even simple tasks can be called challenging if they take enough time. Killing the proverbial 10,000 rats isn’t difficult, but takes dedication and time. Of course you can argue that someone who did this chore long enough is in for a reward, no?

What I find toxic about the raiding culture is this innate arrogance that only THEY are the best and the brightest and THEIR preferred game mode is the only one that truly matters and that’s why only THEY deserve good stuff and everyone else is just too lazy or too bad and deserves to run around in rags.

Finally, “toxic raider culture”? REALLY?! I have no words for that one besides laughing…

That’s understandable. The crowd over at League of Legends probably thinks they are polite and helpful, too.

Games that give you everything for no effort have no lifespan. GW2 succeeds at making people want to keep chasing skins, titles, achievements and victory in many different game modes at once. If they took that away, they would be left with a lifeless game.

Well, you know that GW2, despite having no raids, did nothing but grow in the three years of its existence, yes? Games tend to die when no new content is being added, not because one particular niche group (raiders don’t seem to like it when you point out that they are minority, but truth sometimes hurts I guess) doesn’t have their interests represented. And I’d even be careful with the word “die” for almost no MMO ever really dies. Even Everquest is still running. GW2 made it to be second most successful MMO after WoW – without catering to raiders. And is this really so surprising, for there are a LOT of so-called ‘casual’ players around that don’t really like them, or even have to deal with the fallout of their presence (such as the obvious rift between raiders and non-raiders as evident by this thread and countless others like it). Guess what MMO really attracted non-raiders? Well, how about the only one not having raids? Shame it’s a thing of the past now.

I love how it took only a few hours for toxic raider culture to take root in the forums.

ITT: literally every reason raids have a bad name in so many other games.

Seriously. I wonder how these people managed to stay in a game for three years that according to them catered only to these casuals they obviously feel only contempt for. It’s not that there wouldn’t have been alternatives available for their taste. But noooo, they had to bring their elitism, bragging and toxic culture to the only game not having it so far. GG

This is exactly why the game is so casual and has one of the worst pve content I’ve ever seen.

Yes, GW2 is (well…was) fairly casual, indeed. It was the one MMO for people like me. There are 20 MMOs out there that cater to elitists and people who want to brag with exclusive gear. Seriously, why is this sort of people even playing this game and then trying to shape it into something it was at least at launch not meant to be? I don’t get that.

PS: None of the things you listed is all that important, at least not in my opinion. Locking non-raiders out from an entire -class- of items (legendary armor) is a different beast, won’t you agree? I wouldn’t even have cared all -that- much about raiders getting their exclusive armor skin, but why can’t the rest of us work on legendary armor as well, our way?

That the definition of bragging. "Hey, look at how AWESOME I am I am a RAIDER!!!’ Bragging is a low thing to do. If people would simply want to be proud of what they did, they’d take a screenie of them standing on the dead boss and print it, to hang in on their wall as a memory of their accomplishment. But no, that’s not enough for the raiding crowd. They need to shove it into other people’s faces. In the danger of my repeating myself, but…that’s petty.

From my point of view you’re the one being petty for trying to deny them their trophy’s significance just because you want to look pretty.

To each their own.

You know…killing 10,000 Karka is still an accomplishment. It’s not hard, sure. But it takes time and effort to get done. Both raiders and “farmers” can be proud of what they did and should be. I have a legendary weapon. Am I proud of it? Absolutely. I didn’t have to do any hard content for getting it (TA Up isn’t really hard, you know?), but in my opinion this doesn’t change its significant one single bit. Not for me.

Now, a raider isn’t happy with this. Because nobody looking at my legendary knows if I played for it or simply bought it with my credit card. You cannot really brag with a legendary weapon for that simple reason. That’s why they want the armor to be raid exclusive. They don’t want a trophy. They want to brag. I will readily admit that I hate braggers. I think it’s low and petty and doesn’t deserve any respect, either in real life nor in game.

The legendary skin is a trophy that is dazzling and beautiful. You wear it to put it on display so people know what you did to accomplish it.

That the definition of bragging. "Hey, look at how AWESOME I am I am a RAIDER!!!’ Bragging is a low thing to do. people that complain about not wanting to play hard content for exclusive gear just remind me of soccer moms asking to see the manager

“Live and let live” is a concept that’s apparently alien to some people. I don’t care what items you have and where you got it from. Why do you care what I have and what I had to do to get it? It’s just…petty. One person loves to raid to get their legendary. That’s ok. The next person rather kills 10,000 karka. That’s also ok. Both takes time and effort. But the average raider apparently can’t be happy unless they can shove their “Elite Status” in other people’s faces. It’s the only reason why raiders would ever need exclusive gear for, after all. Can’t probably brag with a legendary if scrubs like me can get one for killing 10,000 karka, after all. As I said…petty.

Nobody cares if Arenanet decides to add legendary armors that don’t require raiding. (As long as it still takes a lot of work to do.) They can reward with legendaries whatever feat they consider worthy of a legendary. What we want is the raid skins to be exclusive to raids, ie: can’t get that same skin without raiding.

As I said…petty. There is no good reason why you would care about what stuff I have.

1) We don’t know how Raid bosses in GW2 will play out as opposed to what we know WoW has. There will probably be similarities (% health phase changes, or special debuffs or whatever) however GW2 combat is substantially different than what we know from the holy trinity group compositions other MMO Raids are based on. Colin mentioned this specifically, and suggested heavily that you shouldn’t be forced to switch characters to fulfill a role you can do on your main. It’s likely the only mechanics that will be allowed to go into GW2 Raids are ones where as long as you have enough players performing some mechanic (like control, damage, support or moving correctly) you can get away with running any composition. I don’t see these Raid bosses being too predictable…

2) Raids will never have an attunement and there’s zero requirements for merely entering. And while Ascended is the top tier stats in this game Exotic quality items are likely what said raids will base their balance around. I can say this because the ‘Legendary Armor’ fulfills many benefits even providing an Ascended Quality piece to the one who makes it eventually. They COULD balance around all 10 players with Ascended, however the degree of difficulty and absolute ‘perfect play’ required I easily imagine won’t be too punishing. We aren’t going to get a bunch of encounters like 0 Light Yogg-Saron, the curve will likely start from whatever level we players reach from exploring the Magumma jungle after a few weeks, and take it a few notches up.

Nobody who advocated for Raids wanted WoW style, that’s why we are playing GW2.

Just to clarify – I am aware that legendary gear has the same stats as the Ascended items I already have. But there is a reason why I spent a lot of time in getting a Kudzu and don’t use “Random Exotic Longbow”. Kudzu is just so much prettier! Assuming the legendary set looks good, non-raiders will want to have it, too. As I said, I am tired of games that lock me out from getting nice stuff just because I don’t want to play a specific type of content that I personally find boring more than anything. I could have played any other MMO had I wanted that.

I don’t do high level Fractals either (just the two lower tiers), and I was happy that the game didn’t make me feel bad about it. In contrast to the Fractal skins, Legendary items are a really major thing, though. People will feel left out if there is absolutely no other way to get them. I know I will. Not that the average raider would care, of course. It’s more a welcome effect, I suppose.

Nobody’s talking about “facerolling” anything except for straw men, but there should be alternatives that don’t involve having to participate in raiding. Raiding is not for everybody, that’s one of the main reasons why GW2 has players, because some people didn’t want to be playing WoW.

You probably misheard Colin but Gw2 raids are not WoW raids.

From what I read on their website, that’s pretty much what I gathered, though. Instances with (gimmick) mechanics that require you to execute certain steps in a certain order inside a very small margin of error to get exclusive shinies to brag with. That’s…WoW.

That’s called good pve content, that all other MMO’s have.

I’m sorry your blind hatred of WoW and general lack of MMO experience causes you to not see this.

Let’s just disagree on that. Yes, I hate scripted gimmick fights (and that’s the only thing I actually hate WoW for, btw – for inflicting this stuff on the MMO genre, because they really came up with it). Scripted fights are ultimately boring and the only reason why they are difficult at all is their ridiculously low margin for error in execution.

What I don’t understand nor ever will understand is why fans of said content come to the ONLY game not having it and nag the devs for three years to add it, instead of simply playing one of the 20 WoW clones providing that exact content.
Me? I was very happy that GW2 didn’t make me feel like a second class player and lock me out from content and desirable items just because I don’t and never will like WoW-style raids. There is a reason why I liked GW2 you know? It NOT being like other MMOs. Thing of the past, I guess. You guys couldn’t let people like me have ONE game that’s different and didn’t make me feel left out just because I don’t want to raid or be in a raiding guild. Congratulations. You won. I lost. I guess in the end the loudest voice always wins after all and I have to give it to the raiding crowd that they were both loud and persistent.

Left out of what? Optional content that has only one prerequisite which is ability to type words?

Left out of experiencing that content and its story. Left out of pursuing a legendary set of armor. And the other stuff they will add to appease the raiding crowd and its thirst for having exclusive shinies.

Raiders love to pull the "hey, it’s optional!!!!’ card, I know. They do forget adding that in every single MMO ever having raids, that content completely took over focus and is usually considered the only PvE content worth doing (for said exclusive rewards). If I cannot get a set of legendary armor since it’s locked behind raids, what should I do then? Farming SW for another 2 years? Twiddling thumbs? Stand in LA and admire the raiders bragging with their phat l00t that scrubs like me can’t have?

In most MMOs having them, raiding was and is done by a small minority of players. The numbers usually being tossed around indicate 5-15% raiders depending on the game. You can twist it up and down, but raids never have been mainstream content.

Citation Needed.

And even if it’s not “mainstream content”, who the kitten cares? Neither WvW nor PvP can be considered mainstream right now. Should they simply abandon those game modes because there are exponentially more people champ/chest farming?

Stagnation is poison to MMOs. Raids are something new for people who currently aren’t satisfied with what we have now. It gives them a reason to keep logging in and may draw in new players that weren’t impressed with what GW2 was offering in the past.

Prefer simple champ training? Cool beans, raids will in no way impede your ability to do so. Raids are not and will not suddenly shift the entire paradigm of pve content.

Hell, given Anet’s past history with GW2 pve, there’s a much higher chance of raids being relatively abandoned after their introduction similar to dungeons and fractals.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not opposed to adding hard content (I am just firmly opposed to exclusive rewards). I do however think that Fractals were a much superior way to add it, because it allows -everyone- to play it, good and bad players alike. I also think the last thing GW2 needed was raids with WoW-style gimmick mechanics (which is what I gather from their website they are going to do). I would have hoped for something…fresh. Not the same old concepts we have seen in 20 MMOs before. Fractals were at least…new.

I can hear the massive qq from people if they make this legendary armor from raids only though..

Well…rightfully so. Non-raiders loved GW2 because there always was an alternative way to get desireable loot. Ascended gear started to drop in Fractals, but was soon added as a Laurel reward or made craftable. This will be the first time ever in GW2 when the most desirable category of an item will be made available for the 1% only. Tbh, if I wanted to be locked out from most good stuff for not being an “elite player”, I could have played WoW. Or any other MMO like it. I love(d) GW2 for…not being like that. GW2 always had hard content (that’s a good thing!), but so far even regular players could get the best (looking) gear in the game.

I have still hopes that ANet will add alternative ways to get legendary armor one day. I guess let’s wait and see for an official word on that.

I actually feel quite positive about Raids in GW2 if ive understood how they will play out correctly – at the moment there doesn’t seem to be any places in pve where someone into being support/utility with some damage thrown in fits in.

I had a Shadow Priest in WoW and 10 man Raids just seemed to bring out the best in that type of character, it was great to switch between abit of healing cc and pew pew, but here I never felt I could build a character like that could be useful in a 5 man Dungeon, so ive just never done a dungeon ( I know you are expected to be an all rounder with no Trinity but Berserker is sill the Meta). Raid mechanics being more complex could allow for a greater selection of build types in groups.

That said Im not that great a player so my chances of getting into a Raid will probably be nil lol

Hopefully, the truly “difficult” part of raids should come in the form of achievements, hardmodes, etc. The raids themselves should be accessible by people of varying skill levels, with special acknowledgements (achievements primarily) for beating the boss faster, more efficiently, under special circumstances, etc.

Adding 10 player content into the game and then tuning it so that only a small percentage of the community can enjoy it goes against everything this game has come to represent for its many fans.

That isnt to say that the achievements/hardmodes/etc shouldn’t be BRUTALLY hard. They most definitely should be.

idk i think you fail to understand the intention behind the raids. they made them to make players who want challenge and difficulty happy. if you dont like difficulty and challenge there is and will be plenty of other stuff to do.

also they said the content will be the most difficult content in gw2 so i doubt they will split it into easy group content and challenging group content.

I love the idea of difficult content, but the addition of a new game mode (10 player instances) should be something everyone can enjoy. There is no reason that raids should only be there for a tiny percentage of the population.

There are a lot of ways to make something challenging without walling off an entire game mode from other players.

it is not only for a tiny percentage. it is for everyone who decides to raid, get better at playing the game individually and with the team and put enough effort into it.
its a MMO. every player can become good enough at the game. its just a matter if you are willing to become a very good player or not.
so please dont make it seem like someone locks you out of the content.

I lead a rather large guild that includes a range of hardcore and casual players. The idea of telling portions of my guild that they will never get to see specific content because they dont make playing/practicing the game their second life makes me ill.

its a computer game. 99% of what you need to be successful is your brain.

and if you are playing with people who are simply unwilling to improve as a player, well if they are unwilling to do their part while other people in the raid are doing their part, then they dont deserve to kill a boss.

In most MMOs having them, raiding was and is done by a small minority of players. The numbers usually being tossed around indicate 5-15% raiders depending on the game. You can twist it up and down, but raids never have been mainstream content. GW2 was (I guess I can use past tense now?) very popular among non-raiders because until today there was no content in the game that locked out lesser skilled players completely. Fractals still had the low difficulty levels everyone could enjoy while good players could press on and get more shinies as a reward. I actually liked it that way. I also liked that there always was an alternative way to get the most high-end items. I guess that went overboard today, too?

I don’t even know what point you are trying to make.

Simple, really.

People are f***in’ stupid, and if these RAIDZ[!!!] aren’t exactly like WoW RAIDZ[!!!], there will be hue and cry and QQ and great frothing nerdrage.

Telling hint – not a soul who talked about RAIDZ[!!!] prior to this announcement ever talked about things like, oh, say…the Fissure of Woe. Or the Domain of Anguish. Or Urgoz’ Warren, or the Deeps, or any of the elite-zone areas they did in Guild Wars 1. Places that were a ton of fun, extremely rewarding, quite challenging (for a while. Nothing’s challenging forever), and also uniquely Guild Wars.

Nope. They want a five-hour slog, followed by one singular gigantic boss, who can only be damaged properly by pulling levers scattered around the zone (“MECHANICS!!”), and who can only be survived by having a bunch of dudes in plate standing in front of him, while a bunch of dudes stand behind those dudes spamming redbar ups, while a bunch of other dudes stand behind the second bunch of dudes hitting their one-button damage rotation macros.

It’s disgusting, it infuriates me, and it’s incredibly dismaying that ArenaNet decided on RAIDZ[!!!] as their elite endgame content and not elite zones like they did in GW1. We’ve all lost out in that deal, and I firmly blame the transplanted WoW players who need to go the Gehena back to WoW and play the game they actually want to play ELSEWHERE, instead of wrecking this one.

Nothing to add to this post, really. Truth. Spoken.

I loved FoW, UW and the other endgame GW1 areas, too. I will just sleep and hope that what they will announce tomorrow is FoW 2.0. Not that boring scripted garbage I will hate WoW for all eternity for inflicting on the MMO genre.

Yeah, these EULAs most games are using these days are a complete atrocity and an insult to their customers. They can’t -honestly- expect people to read the equivalent for 30-40 letter pages for each and every game they are playing. Not even mentioning that these things are written by lawyers and thus are completely incomprehensible for humans anyway. I really think judges should start tossing out in court every EULA more than two pages long and not written in a understandable manner, without even looking at them.

I don’t even get why they are using that many pages to essentially say “You have no rights. We do what we want”, anyway. Because that’s always the gist of these “agreements”.

The old system sucked -extremely- hard. You needed to acquire the skin again for each item you wanted to have the look, e.g. on alts. You needed to destroy an item just to put its looks on another one. You needed real life money for it. It was hands down the worst skin customization system I have seen in any MMO, ever.

The new one is MUCH better.

That being said, it still falls short when it still insists to charge you every time you’re changing your look. I firmly believe that this is wrong, wrong, wrong. Charging for unlocking skins is fine, charging for changing skins you already have unlocked is evil nickle and diming.
The new system still discourages characters from transmuting their skins until max level (why use real life money to customize a skin you’re going to throw away in a few levels?) and it still encourages characters to decide for one look at stick to it for a very long time. In contrast to what we’d do in real life, which is NOT wearing the same dress every day. What’s the point of collecting skins of the game discourages you from wearing more than one? I don’t get that.

And you don’t have to spend a single penny on transmutation charges if you do not want to.

And this new system is LESS discouraging for wearing multiple skins. I seem to recall the ONLY way to change the skins on level 80 items before the change was to BUY gems or convert gold to gems to get transmutation crystals. Now we get them for free for doing map completion and logging into the game.

You must have missed the line where I wrote that the new system is MUCH (in caps!) better than the utterly stupid one they launched the game with. And saying that I am not obliged to buy cash shop items is Captain Obvious at its finest. :p
Yes, you get free charges, but they are not enough to fund changing your wardrobe overly often (mine hasn’t changed in ages and I never use any charges for non-max characters either).
I wish they’d have just done what many other MMOs do and not charge for changing (unlocked) skins at all. They could still make money in other ways. Such as releasing more skins we can buy. shrug

Why was Transmutation changed?

The old system sucked -extremely- hard. You needed to acquire the skin again for each item you wanted to have the look, e.g. on alts. You needed to destroy an item just to put its looks on another one. You needed real life money for it. You needed lots of bank space to store your “skins”. It was hands down the worst skin customization system I have seen in any MMO, ever.

The new one is MUCH better.

That’s why I suggested to just scale down the exp and loot they would get, instead of just taking it away.

In all honesty, the rewards weren’t all that great to begin with. If you want to get somewhat decent rewards in the open world, your (only) area of choice will be Silverwastes.

And while I see the point of bad first impressions, I was never and will never be a friend of rules that ruin the fun of many because a few jerks can’t behave. The correct course of action is punishing the jerks. All MMOs I ever played, GW2 included are waaaaay too reluctant to banhammer people who find it ok to hurl verbal abuse at others “because it’s the internet”. In my experience it was less than 2% of the players in a train who’d do that. Do the game and its community a favour and just ban them for good. Problem solved.

Get to level 80. It’s easy, just hop onto eotm and level or do it the old slow way through hearts/open events in maps. Its easier now with megaservers.

Once you’re 80, get to silver wastes. Endgame. Camp there until HoT releases. You should be very rich by then. Easy farming, easy gold.

Except doing the same thing all the time is boring. That’s what usually sets GW2 apart from its competition which usually provide absolutely NOTHING to do except farming the same 3 boring raids. The good thing about the QD train was that it was yet another thing to do.

World bosses are regularly not worth doing if the bonus chest was already taken for the day. Most world bosses take much longer to take down than regular champs, their reward isn’t -any- better, and the wait times between kills are a -lot- longer than the QD trains was, which could kill champs with next to no waiting involved.
And Frostgorge is getting old after a while.
It’s strange that they are normally concerned with keeping low-level areas alive and then take away the very reason for higher level players to still go there. I am sad that they took away the QD champ train. It was a mindless fun thing to do for coffee breaks.

Cursed RNG... Not fun anymore =[

RNG works fine for regular items as you get so many of them that math demands the total value even out over time. What I never understood is using RNG for high-end items. Dumping riches on a randomly picked person for no good reason whatsoever is…a silly thing to do.

Nobody wants difficult content in an MMO for its own sake, this is entirely the wrong genre for that.

Yes, I share the sentiment that a good approximation to 100% of those who ask for challenging content in MMOs do so because they want to brag, boast and belittle. Exceptions do of course happen.

I guess you don’t believe in trophies/ribbons/prizes or any kind of recognition for success in a given field IRL then either, as that would essentially be people getting things strictly to brag/impress people in your mind, rather than for their own satisfaction.

Why would anyone strive for excellence if they can achieve the same thing through minimal effort?

The difference between a bragger and an achiever is that the latter is completely happy to put the trophy on their shelf at home and take pride in having done whatever it took to get it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

In MMO terms: A person who wants to complete difficult content for the sake of completing difficult content is an achiever. A person who wants to have exclusive stuff for completing said difficult content to show off with in town is a bragger.

I love the GW1 monk outfit. And hated what they did to it in GW2. They really shouldn’t mess with the designs when bringing them over. They are classic for a reason. :S

I have a legendary and feel your pain. Well, sort of, because I am odd enough not to mind grind all that much. I totally understand why people burn out trying for one, though. Bifrost is pretty, btw.

Mawdrey – yes, she is pricey in terms of opportunity costs, but you can farm all the stuff needed for her.

Lack of cool items in the game

If I wanted a game that locks me out of everything decent just because I dislike raiding content (and spending my time with elitists that tend to feel attracted by that sort of content), I’d go play one of the twenty competing MMOs designed that way.

“…everything decent…” is completely subjective. In this game everyone has access to top tier stat gear. Now what we’re talking about are essentially skins. Now all of a sudden exclusive skins shouldn’t require completion of challenging content because some people don’t want to or simply can’t complete content that is above average difficulty?

That’s simply not fair to people who put the effort into completing that content.

It’s like the Liadri mini / title. I never use the mini or the title, but I worked towards it for my own satisfaction. I know how hard it was to get, and if I see someone with the title or mini it reminds me of the hard work that went into it and they get a bit of respect from me. If you could simply buy that title or mini then it would be as if all my and others’ hard work was wasted.

The difference between me and you is that I couldn’t care less about what items or titles you have. I play the game for fun, not to brag. The desire for “exclusivity” is ultimately bred by some people’s desire to brag and boast by shoving stuff into other people’s faces they don’t have. Otherwise they’d be happy to have nice and shiny things for the sake of having nice and shiny things. It’s like these guys who wear these ugly Rolex watches in real life. They almost always don’t do that because they like the ugly things, they do that to brag with their financial ability to afford one.

For the record, I will never respect braggers or elitists. Quite…the contrary, actually.

I do them for fun. Don’t care about rewards. If I’m running around queensdale on a level 80 I still stop to do most the events

I agree. But if you want to raise some cash for a legendary or other nice shiny thing, you are facing the alternative of doing fun events and not get anything worthwhile or rather do something else that might actually be -less- fun, but comes with better rewards.

GvG game mode

I seriously don’t know why GW2 doesn’t have GvG. It was a fairly popular game mode in GW1. And I agree that WvW is a poor choice of arena for it. WvW is about large armies dishing it out, not individual guilds.

I certainly agree that getting nice stuff should take some effort in terms of people play the game for a while. But if you tie said items to content that only 1% of the players can ever hope to complete it, this item becomes “exclusive” because it’s out of reach for the vast majority of players (raiding gear in other MMOs is a prime example for that). The sheer fact that a super-hard dungeon has an open entrance doesn’t mean it’s accessible.

A good example for how to design hard to get items without locking out the vast majority of players are legendary items or Mawdrey. None of the individual tasks required to get these items is overly challenging, but it sure takes time and effort to collect all needed parts. So far, GW2 has got that right. If I wanted a game that locks me out of everything decent just because I dislike raiding content (and spending my time with elitists that tend to feel attracted by that sort of content), I’d go play one of the twenty competing MMOs designed that way.

Agreed, the reward for regular open world events is broken. There is like zero incentive to do them other than for leveling. The only open world events worth doing are temple events and world bosses. And even the latter only when the daily bonus chest is available, as the regular chests usually just unload a bunch of vendor/salvage trash on you, too. Guild Wars 2 is the game that didn’t want everything worthwhile to happen in instances unlike other MMOs, but their reward system sure encourages to do just that.

Probably too much asked for, but: A skirt that’s not puffy. Like the Viper skirt, but as light armor.

My single biggest wish, if I had one, would be bringing the mesmer FoW set to GW2. The way it looks like in GW1, not an inflated version like what they did to the poor monk dress.

I am always for new shiny things, but I disagree with the ‘limited’ (read: exclusive) part. I don’t get people’s obsession with having things other people don’t have. It’s actually a pretty low attitude to have. “Exclusive” is a BAD thing, ok? The word is derived from Latin and literally means “shut out”.

I do however agree that most armor sets are bland and look way too similar. Most medium armor still look like coats. Most light armor still looks like puffy bathrobes. Seriously, someone at ANet must have a puffy skirt fetish: With the sole exception of the Viper skirt, every single skirt in the game stands away a half-mile from the hips. Ugh.

Gosh, I hope it’s not raids. I am not aware of any game where raiding hasn’t caused endless drama in its community. To be honest, the “challenging group content” announcement is scaring the hell out of me that GW2 might become just yet another endgame focused MMO after all. Dungeons – I am not opposed to getting more of then, but I can’t say I overly like the existing ones. Maybe if they are different enough from the old ones. Less gimmick fights, more fun.

A modern day version of fow or Uw would be good, but that is seperate content from 5 man dunnys

Now, THAT I would love. FoW/UW are probably still the best group dungeons ever made in any game. I can do without silly scripted raids/boss fights, though. Scripted fights are boring by design, as they play out 100% the same every time you try them and the only difficulty stems from them having a laughably small margin of error when deviating from the one single method to beat them. Seriously I don’t get why people are still asking for raids. FoW/UW are so much better than any raid ever created that it’s not even funny.
