LS1 was a series of open world events and festivals. When one episode went live, the previous was removed from the game. Making them instanced for map wide populations which took up a few episodes means
a) ensuring they have the tech to do. Megaservers aren’t the same thing as static districts
b) a lot of bug testing and QA. It took a lot of work for them to get SAB working again after all the changes to the code and that’s just an instance.

Then you end up with populations split up all over the place and not enough ppl to make sure the events are completable. The Watchwork Invasions alone benefited from full maps as did the Battle for LA and Scarlet. To re-scale them would mean more work.

Why didn’t they do it earlier? Well LS2 was a new format again and there would have been no point converting LS1 to a format that could have proven not to work as a storytelling format.

The more you know. Again, I haven’t played LS1 so I was under the impression it more or less followed the current LS format. It makes it more reasonable but still disappointing. These are the types of things you miss when a whole LS is unavailable I suppose.

Thanks for the explanation.

It’s not odd, it;‘s just an enormous amount of work to convert LS1 into the newer format. The original format LS1 was released in wouldn’t work with the World today and it would still need significant time and resources to iron out new bugs with the updated code or new tech to put it in its own instanced world map.

Simply put, there aren’t enough resources to make LS3, an expac and LS1. Whilst I 100% agree LS1 is needed, I’m not sure the wider community would want new and future content dropped to make it happen.

As for HoT loose ends, I think they are done and dusted. If we end up taking down 1 or more dragons before the expac, then even more lore and potential will disappear. I just hope a rich and detailed story is being set up to counterbalance what is lost.

I suppose at this point they don’t have the resources, but I’m not sure why it wasn’t released before. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work though? A lot of old story was set in destroyed LA before it was re-built and they just modified the locations when they re-made LA. They should still have the maps they can make available as instances if it requires an older map, no?

I don’t think we will take down any dragons before the next expansion pack. Hopefully in the interim we will see some of those plot holes covered and new ones opening leading into the new expansion. At the very least I think we will hear from/about Zojja, Logan, and Kasmeer. Maybe the Pale Tree. I don’t know about the Nightmare Court or Malyck. I think the Nightmare Court just isn’t important to the story at this point (especially since it’s in disarray) so we aren’t going to hear much about it. I think Trahearne should get some sort okittennowledgement but because he was basically signed off due to opposition to his character I don’t think he will.

Is this a new trend?

I think Marjory’s reaction is fine. She essentially said that she disagrees with us and she can do what she wants, so she is going to. If someone told me that they weren’t going to let me do something I already made my mind up about I would say the same thing. She calls us boss, but we aren’t paying her so we have no sort of actual power over her unless she wants it. Is it an ill advised decision? Sure, but she thinks she can handle it and that we are just underestimating her. She at least seems to understand our concern. I think maybe the way she phrased it was a bit rude, but the Commander babying her was also maybe a bit rude. At the very least she didn’t seem to personally resent the Commander outside of saying we can’t tell her what to do. She didn’t personally attack us or look down on us.

Braham, however, is a whole ‘nother story, but I’ve commented on that in another thread already so I’ll just leave it at that.

Completely agreed on the LS1 thing. Why haven’t they released it? At least as a pay to play pack like LS2… I started playing at the end of LS1 (over 2 years ago) so I didn’t get to fight Scarlet at all because it ended before I was level 80. It’s a huge gap that doesn’t make sense to new players and also a lot of older players. I was thrown into DE 2.0 without knowing who any of the characters were. I had to google them to find out anything about them when I started LS2. I honestly had no idea who they were.

I just find it odd that they would release LS2 to everyone after the fact but not LS1?

Is Braham becoming the next Logan?

I pretty much agree with this line of thinking, but would like to add a few things. I do agree that Braham is worse than Logan at this point, and for me at least, I don’t think he’s redeemable.

I think Logan’s decision was ultimately between the one he loves versus those he cares about and mostly those he doesn’t know. There are those mind game questions about saving someone you love versus many people you don’t know, and that’s essentially what Logan had to do. The reason it’s so prominent is because it is actually a difficult decision. Obviously the logical and moral decision would be to save more lives, however when you are in love with someone, they are more important than anything else, including the lives of many to that person. That’s why even though we can all say Logan likely made the wrong decision (especially since Jennah herself saved the day), there is no way he could have known what sort of danger Jennah was in, and we can at least understand why his decision wasn’t inherently wrong. I won’t go into the whole politics of the situation because someone else already did, but it’s a good point to bring up. If Jennah DID die, the humans and charr would likely go back to war and be out of the fight against the dragons.

Furthermore, I do think Logan to some extent understands this. Jennah seems to be a bit remorseful over it, although she isn’t really at fault since she didn’t know what Logan was doing at the time she called for him. Logan’s defense is often saying, “You would have done the same.” I think he’s actually right in that regard. If Zojja had to leave to save Snaff with Jennah as the victim do you think she wouldn’t have? Zojja is incredibly smart, but she cared about and admired Snaff more than anybody. I think one reason Logan is so defensive about it is because he does in some ways understand that it may not have been the best decision, but he has to stand by it because otherwise Snaff died for nothing. I do think he would make the same decision again, but he does understand the other side, he just disagrees with it/feels differently.

Braham on the other hand, has no logical or understandable argument. His argument essentially boils down to wanting to kill the dragons ASAP before they kill more people, and he wants to accomplish this using a suicide mission that will pretty much annihilate his whole race. Okay, well if you think about that for 2 seconds his reasoning is non-existent and also stupid. There is no way to sympathize with this dude unless you are completely incapable of rationale thought because he is doing the opposite of his proposed goal. You can disagree with Logan and dislike his interactions with Jennah, but at least they make sense on some level. Braham’s actions are indefensible, regardless of his emotional state (which IMO is already unwarranted). This whole outburst paints him as someone who is 1. a completely and utter moron, 2. a disrespectful and ungrateful kitten (aren’t you one of the reasons he was even able to compromise with Eir?), and 3. somebody lacking in empathy. Again, there is no redeeming quality to his plan to counteract all of the negative aspects of this. His outburst is nonsensical and lore defying. He acts like he knew Eir more than the PC. He blames the PC for the Pact Mordremoth assault even though we were with him the whole time? He suddenly has no respect for Taimi or Rox. And all of this because his mother than he was close to for like a day died? He spent his whole life resenting her and suddenly she’s so important to him. Ugh, he’s just irredeemable for me at this point.

Sorry this got a bit ranty, but I really despise Braham now. The writers need to be careful what they do with him. Trahearne’s death was, let’s not kid ourselves, due to player backlash. Braham is on his deathbed right now. If the player base never forgives his character, it’s going to be near impossible to incorporate him into a satisfying story that doesn’t involve offing him. If they want to redeem him, they need to do it ASAP and it needs to be big. With the bull Caithe went through (who honestly had an understandable argument even though the PC just completely hated her for ages after that?) this is just extra mind-boggling.

Game won't start after launcher.

Hello,

I was getting the previous error about two hours ago that many people seem to have gotten, where they were not able to log into their accounts. That seems to have been solved for me, but now when I log into my client and launch my game nothing seems to pop up. No error, no screen changes, nothing. The game just disappears. I’ve tried a client repair and all of my drivers are up to date. Has anybody else run into this issue recently and found a way to solve it? Thanks!
