Hey all!
I’ve recently come back to GW2 – Mainly because the New Expansion just drew me back in. I used to play GW2 but only touched on level 48 then dropped the game due to work hours.
I used to play a Mesmer but upon coming back to the game have decided I will dabble in the Thief.
Now I only really need some questions answered so decided general discussion the best place to ask…sorry if I decided wrong ^^
- The Thief – Is it good at both PvP and PvE?
- Upon coming back I heard about the Isles of Mists which apparently gets you to 80 really fast…. if this is true is it still viable? I don’t mind questing up at all but a jump to 45 would be great!
- Lastly if anyone could give me some tips about the best things to do at 80 to jump into pve and pvp that’d be great!
Thanks for any help
I’d really suggest that you play through the game at a slow pace. Trying to rush through the content just gets you to max level quicker ,and you miss out on the majority of the game. All you’re going to learn by levelling up in EoTM is how to run around with a group auto-attacking.
Another thing that you could do (other than going to the other racial starter zones), is to hang around for a bit in the areas that you can do. Chances are a dynamic event will start up and that’ll give you something to help level up. Once you get to level 10 you can do a load of personal story missions and that will then level you up to several levels beyond the zone you’re doing.
Cheers for that, I’ve started with a Norn Mesmer – Really enjoying it so far.
I think I’ll definitely take the route you suggested as it sounds like it explains a lot more lore and background, especially the personal story missions. Thanks all ^^
Typically I role a human or Norn however whenever I reach level 9 the content seems to jump up to level 11 for me and I get smashed by mobs thus being stuck… I may be missing something obvious or just need more practice.
Every race has a starting map, Humans have Queensdale and Norn Wayfarer Foothills, but you can go to the starting map of any other race and do the heart/vista/skill points there, also since it is required to complete the Worldmap anyways, you can do it as soon as possible.
Oh sweet cheers for sharing that ^^ that will help greatly ^^
Okay so firstly hi all !
Hope you all have a good Christmas
Now to the topic…
I’ve literally just come back to the game I’ve had it sat on my shelf for awhile, I previously played a Warrior but only hit level 9 haha yeah i’m a noob.
So anyway I’m back and this game so far is drawing me in I love the art style soooo much and just the general game. I’m considering leveling a Mesmer as they look really fun to play and typically in MMO’s I play a rogue or warrior.
First off I am debating thief or mesmer – Mesmer’s I’ve taken a real shine to so I’d just a little info on each one. E.g. End game use, pvp etc
Secondly, I’ve heard of this ‘Edge of the Mists’ zone which apparently gets you from 1-80 pretty kitten fast. Any info on this would be great – I won’t be spending all my time here as I’d really love to explore GW2 and open up the content.

So yeah if anyone could give me any sort of Info I’d really appreciate it I’m not in a rush to 80 but I’d like to make it as smooth as possible. Thanks ^^
Dwarves please! Just please don’t make them so stupidly small like in WoW. Dwarves weren’t overly large but please! Dwarves are too epic to miss out on
Okay, So literally new to the game…well newish I bought the game originally but didn’t play it much due to Graphics card lacking. New one and now I’m hooked. Now I have a lot of MMO experience e.g. FF, WoW, WaR etc. But NEVER a Guild Wars. As with any new mmo I play I approach it unknowingly.
I’m not going to lie… this game baffles me…the professions. This game doesn’t seem to promote them at all so is it worth doing these whilst leveling? Secondly….CAN I travel anywhere/quest anywhere one of the many reasons I’ve wanted to play this game. Apparently in the old Guild Wars no matter what level I was I could go to a zone and level… I love this idea.. I’ve heard many mixed reviews on this..my friend said
‘GW2 is okay, but it’s nothing more than a grind fest offering no real end game content. The gear is standard looking and it’s just another generic mmo offering nothing new’ Is this true? I’ve also been told 90% of GW2 in game is questing/leveling. Luckily I like leveling so no biggy…
Basically enlighten me, I’m a newb/noob/nub w.e you wanna call it. Flame me if you must I NEED to learn! Any footholds…any realms…any guilds..any proffs..all info!
I greatly thank anyone who has read this whole post…./cookieforyou… means a great deal! It will be even greater if you could expand teh knowledge of this new player
Thanks ;D
