The nightmare court claims freedom is their goal, whilst imprisoning sylvari, poisoning people, and beating fern hounds into fear and submission. They also attack the soundless, other free sylvari, on sight. Sylvari connected to the dream are only guided by the tree and Ventari’s teachings, they are free to disobey or join the soundless.

Joining the nightmare court is fine, so long as you can admit your character is evil. The sylvari may not be perfect, but the court are hypocrites and sadists in the extreme.

Hmm ok, sounds like what i’d heard was from high level dungeon runners exclusively then. I’ll give these suggestions a shot, I’ve been inspired to try ranger. Thanks everyone!

Hey all, haven’t played ranger for very specific reasons, so i have some questions. I was stoked to try the class until i read about the pets. I know some love them, but i personally can’t stand pet classes so I’ve kept away from ranger.

Management of a FEW pet abilities and keeping it on a target is fine, but i reeeally hate micromanaging an NPC pseudo-companion. I’ve read plenty about how skilled play of the class requires smart micro’ing your pet and that it contributes a significant part of your damage.

My question is: Is this always true? Are there builds or playstyles that put far more emphasis on your character’s abilities and damage and require less pet babysitting? Is it even possible?
