Upon first login it will randomly choose a song from the playlist and only play that song when battle conditions are met to play the music, even if they are other songs in the list. If battle goes long enough and the first song ends, the next song is also predetermined and never changes either. Logging out won’t change what song it repeats, though completely exiting the game will, which it will repeat as well.
Edit: also to clarify, I know that if you don’t put a blank song in the beginning of the playlist it will pick that first song than randomize. I have a blank song there. This bug is stopping it from picking that first blank sound and randomizing after.

Good idea. I just did right now.
They changed how custom playlists worked in a recent patch. First thing they changed is the MainMenu playlist stops as soon as you load a character. Second, it seems that certain areas play certain tracks first. So, a ‘silence.mp3’ is almost useless.
BossBattle still plays for me, but Battle also rarely plays. I don’t know why.
And personally, it’s a little irritating. I liked how they did it before.
If anything, they should have just changed the BossBattle music to randomize.
Yeah it irritates me too. Was a neat feature.
Back story that’s relevant to my question: I played this from 2nd beta to tower of nightmares before taking a break. During that time my custom music set for battles played regularly like it was supposed to, usually against at least 3 enemies or against a single champ. I recently came back after HoT’s announcement and noticed my battle playlist barely plays anymore. In fact, it only ever seems to play during the vinewrath events where you’re in the 3 lanes. Did they change when battle music occurs?
After FINALLY finishing my incinerator yesterday, I decided to finally finish her look as well. I present Velia Contessa:
My 2-cents:
1. Change how killing Aetherblades counts towards the bar. Instead of it being after event completion, make it exactly how the minions are and make the individual kills count instead.
2. Up the end rewards SUBSTANTIALLY. 26 silver(I think that’s how much you get) and a few loot bags and ore isn’t worth the 30+ mins a successful run takes. If it doesn’t already, how about a chance at an ascended? Maybe one guaranteed exotic. Better yet, how about giving invasions wins the highest chance for a precursor in the game. I don’t mean 25% chance or something crazy like that. Perhaps increase it .5-1% over other methods of receiving it. For example, if its a 1% chance of getting it of a mob, make an invasion win have 1.5% chance or something like that. (Side note, the numbers are just for illustrated purposes)
3. Minions should have more champs spawn.
4. I like the idea of withholding champ rewards till completion, but with the chance to get dced in the middle of one and getting nothing because of it is reason enough not to go that route.
5. Maybe reintroduce achievements for them as another reason to complete them.
I didn’t start out with a Charr. In fact, I got 2 humans to 80 and 77, as well as messing around with a sylvari and a couple of asuras. But after rolling a Charr necro, I’m in love! I think what did it for me was the voice acting, especially on Rytlock( love Blum), and animations and the story. I’ve only played up to a 16, but its leagues better than the humans. I also don’t get annoyed hearing different quips from my character. I can only hear outrunning a centaur so many times but I like my guys sayings. I also enjoy hearing other Charr classes as well.
