So everyone’s probably see all the posts, some saying Teq is impossible, some demanding that ANet not nerf because they will defend to their dying breath any content that is released.
So I propose this: make an wall (or giant boulders, or … some other large object) with Tequatl’s stats (including hp), and then try to kill said object with ~map full of people. Slightly less, because not everyone on the map is at the boss, and not everyone at the boss is actually doing anything. See if you can get it dead in 15 minutes. Then account for the fact that there’s fears, possible invulnerable periods (poor turret handling), and lost dps time due to dodging poisons, possibly dying, and some people defending turrets. Is Tequatl looking reasonable, after all those considerations?
Then, share with the class.
Coordinate and win. Get 40 people organised and go to an overflow after it finished.
I think this boss is easy if organised well.If they nerf this, it’ll be the ultimate stamp on gw2 “casual game”.
So what you’re saying is, you’d rather it not be a casual game. You want it to be a hardcore game where some content is only possible for a small percentage of people? I’m not saying make it easy, because all the other champs they buffed are definitely more fun, but if you want bosses like what you’re saying, go back to WoW.
A lot of people are saying that he’s impossible. And then, perhaps even more people are defending aNet and saying it’s “working as intended”. Why some people instantly choose to mindlessly defend aNet, I don’t know, but (no offense aNet, I think Gw2 is great and all) they’re just as prone to mistakes as anyone else is. And I’m sure it’s not their intention to make Tequatl bosses where only the top % can kill, and I’m sure they don’t want to make this one of those games.
Which brings up this question: is it reasonable to ask everyone who goes to the Tequatl fight to have the right gear for fighting him? Or to have an ascended or better weapon?
I hate to say this but yes. If you do opt to go there in nothing but blues you will be a burden and take up a slot which could be better used by somebody else. This unfortunately also goes for people who just wants to quest in the zone while the raid is up.
I can’t help but think that ArenaNet has completely lost sight of their vision.
Agreed – if it is true that only people in exotics, and the right kind of exotics only, can do Tequatl, and that ascended weapons are preferred, this could just breed horrible elitism. After all, Tequatl is a world boss, so it should be open to everyone who wants to do it, regardless of their gear or even skill level. If you’re going to make doing Tequatl this elite, maybe you ought to instance him.

Not to be pessimistic, but I second this – 10% is probably 70-80% more damage to Tequatl that most other servers, including Blackgate and Rall, so I’m a bit incredulous.
Someone said that Tarnished Coast got him to 10%. Not sure whether to believe or not, it seems super hard to get him to even 80%. Anyone have kitten
First off, let me say that I’m not fond of whining, and I hope that no one will go and say this post of whiny of me – I didn’t want to post this, just because I felt some people may misconstrue this as whining.
That said: I honestly think that you fellows have made Tequatl too … buff. He has an insane amount of hp, ridiculous amount of cc, huge damage, minions that do huge amount of cc, and takes very little damage. In the 15 minutes that we have to kill him, I’ve only every seen him drop to 90-95%.
I’m going to go ahead and say that in his current state, he might be impossible to kill (Did you mean for him to be impossible?). People have said to me, in response to my saying he’s impossible, that people just need to dodge the poison and protect the turrets, and that turrets need to be used better, and that once all this happens, Tequatl will become easier and (hopefully) killable. I’m not so sure; if an entire map (Because after all, we are working with a limited amount of people: once we have enuff, any extra players get moved to the overflow, yeah?) can only do 5-15% of his hp in 15 minutes, even if people became better at dodging his poison and better at turrets, I still think we won’t be able to down him.
So I’m wondering, does anyone else think he’s impossible to kill, or is there some mechanic that does a massive amount of damage to kill that I’m missing?
Darkhaven still down – @Anet, any updates/estimates until fix?
