Update: decided to uninstall/reinstall the game. Only when I went to windows’ appwiz and click “remove/modify”, the launcher instantly crashed with the following message:

Hi everyone!

I was playing late into night yesterday then went to get some sleep. This morning I installed another video game, in the meanwhile ended up doing a fresh install of DX11 and video drivers. A bit later, I started up GW2 again. For some reason, the launcher is sitting on the message “Downloading with 0kB/s” for minutes. I tried to click the X button to close which just ended up giving me a standard windows crash message. Task manager says it’s running fine (no “Does not reply” message). I rebooted my router, in case it’s a data transfer problem. The launcher didn’t even react to that, as if it didn’t realise I lost connection while the router was restarting.

Any ideas what I might do about this?

As a warrior, I really prefer 2x axes over greatswords. Shorter reach but more hits, more maneuverability in my opinion.

I read somewhere that the Tengu were a strong candidate for being a playable race when the game was designed. So maybe we’ll get to play one at some point. hopefully.

In most of the RPGs I played, I found myself a collector of shinies, often keeping some pieces or whole sets of armor just so I can show them off to friends when they came over. When I first saw the exotic dungeon sets on the LA vendors, my first thought was that in the long run, no matter how long it’ll take, I want to have them all for my charr. But then I had to realise that – unless I missed something, which might entirely be possible – even if I were to purchase more bank slots and craft larger bags, storing my collection, or carrying them around would be an ineffective use of inventory space.

So here’s my idea, which is both a solution for my problem and potentially one use of the so far kind of neglected home instances. The subject of the idea is just as the title says: window dummies (or mannequins) you can put armor on. Just to bring an example, anyone who played Skyrim would have seen one of these [ http://bit.ly/UIiRAm ]. In appearance they could be very similar to, if not completely like all those training dummies scattered across Tyria.

When a character walks up to a dummy he “owns” (I’ll get back to this in a paragraph or two), he can press his key to interact with the dummy, whereas a window much like armor preview would open, so the player can drag armor pieces into the various slots, and those pieces would subsequently be displayed for all to see until removed.

To make data usage more effective, I think the best location for these would be in each character’s home instance where only a limited number of individuals would have access to the exhibition (namely the owner and whoever he invites). I think this would also add further color to those instances.

Since owning a number of dummies would be technically much like having more bag / bank space, I would not mind having to pay a reasonable amount of gems for each dummies via the TP. Maybe in the form of a consumable, which, upon consumption places a dummy in the home instance of the character that used it.
