Sounds like the grub is working exactly as intended :]
(Oh and btw, I know its not at the keep, but there is a champion on the red side :P )
The orb game is awesome, it is definitely alot of fun watching the server erupt with excitement when a orb is being shifted from altar to altar and everything else that goes along with it.
It isn’t gone, read the post carefully people. They’re dead right when they say that in current circumstance, it just needs to be switched off. It’s impacting too much on the underdog server.
Most recently people have figured out how to make the orb icon disappear off the map so it can’t be seen moving from keep to keep. Between things like this and the hackers, the orbs need a big workover, design and code.
I’m glad that they’ve listened to the community, Habib’s post shows that. Thank you Habib.
It is very reasonable for them to decide to remove rather than “fix” the orb. Nothing is ever irreversible, happy to see that they are at least willing to try.
What you do is, here’s what you do. You convince a few people in WvW to come out into LA right? Then you go “Hey guys! There’s a special event going on in all the borderlands in WvW, you gotta find it in one of the keeps!” then one of your mates says “i just got my achievement” and then you have some guys waiting on the other side in the borderlands “oh man! i think i saw it in AH!” and then you go take it and when they are all like, where mah event man, some one else goes “just spotted mad king in the garrison lord room”
I dunno, might work.
Awesome post, wish there was more of this attitude out there.
As one who has faced you on the battlefield, knowing the formidable force you guys are I am glad to see that WM is not one to cower beneath the turtle but figured out how to crack its hard shell.
Keep an eye on these WM guys, you might learn a thing or two ;]
Just make the Commander title an end tier Art of War upgrade.
Wouldn’t it make sense that it cost influence and time?
My first attempted was bugged, when you entered the instance it said “Meet the gathering at Claw Island pier” or something very close to that.
My group spent about 5-10mins running around claw island trying to figure out what we needed to do…

Did you try reseating the card in the bus? Though judging by the photos and reports, more than likely you’ve got a dud card.
So, i'm hearing things about SBI/BG Alliance, is this true? What REALLY happened to JQ?

For some reason the commanders of IoJ seem intent on attacking JQ and SBI is taking major advantage of that.
Unfortunately I wasn’t around for the entire beta so I can’t say that it was tried before, but I was hoping that it is possible to just try one matchup with the orb buff disabled? Or halved, or switched with the outmanned buff, or whatever you deem equivalent.
I know there has already been lots of orb threads, but I just wanted to plead once that we at least try something different. Heck make them give points-per-tick, I think even that would lessen the points sway that you get from a 3-orb strong enemy.
And I say this from the perspective of being mostly in tier 1 bracket servers, and participating this last week in IoJ of the closest match I’ve seen yet.
I love the orb game, its alot of fun to participate in a server gank of another server’s orb carrier group. Or sneaking through the back to snag it when a server is focused on defending the other side of the keep. But I feel that for the “little” server it is just too demoralising when one server achieves 3 orbs. Smashing your face against a brick wall in the hope of a crack forming is somewhat of the feeling you get.
While you may say “suck it up” or similar, I say that it just isn’t fun. And as soon as it stops being fun, the cannon fodder stop playing and as soon as the numbers start dropping it causes a cascading effect until only the dedicated few guilds are left. They don’t last much longer.
If you really want to achieve 2 week matches, the point sway needs to be steadied somewhat. I think there would be more consistent turnout throughout a week if the point sway wasn’t so wild.
The dolyaks have really low HP and can be healed. Any of a guardians heals will put a quarter of a HP bar back on it.
Just stick some support classes on it that can aegis, heal, reflect etc.
I have many a time on my guardian kept a dolyak alive through a group attacking a gate at a tower.
I should of mentioned in my other post that the orb carrier cannot repair (apparently).
… Johanson made a statement on its progress?
Totally missed that, he probably should of posted that in another thread. Personally I’m reluctant to continue to read a thread thats achieved its purpose. These days after that it just ends up in trolling.
I’m glad I gave this thread the time of day, the title gave me a bad impression, but I like your idea.
People were running around naked by the end of last week, not a care in the world because of 3 orbs. While it is fun, its not the kind of fun one would expect of WvW.
Using action when it shows “Place orb in altar” can repair it after multiple presses. If it doesn’t work its bugged out and I don’t think you can do anything until the keep changes hands.
Way to look completely past the point to continue trolling.
This result isn’t because of Anet’s system, it’s because of people wanting to have the most fun possible with their game time. A couple of weeks ago, when HoD died, a whole lot of people decided to choose another server to get their jollies from. And this caused a bit of a cascading effect with other server not happy with their current situation. Alot of those people saw Blackgate as having potential. Deal with it. Others went to IoJ, hell some even went to EU servers.
This matchup is a result of almost an entire server to transfer out. This same suitiation has caused what is so far the closest T1 matchup to date.
If free transfers were not up, WvW would be even more desolate that it is because rather than having a way to change their situation, people would just stop playing.
Reading comprehension fail. By “go to the battle” I mean go to where the action actually is. And if that isn’t on your server, you find one that does.
And if you mean one person can’t bring a server out of “dead” status, then I agree. But then my idea of fun isn’t getting PvP atrophy sitting in a server that has no intentions of doing anything in WvW.
Because as far as I was aware, not all AoE is limited to 5.
If that truly is the case, tell everyone in your map to /report each of them for exploit.
Reporting this as botting doesn’t seem like the right category, not to mention botters are handled with data collection and then necessary action, no data needed for this. And they are exploiting the queue system.
There is absolutely no reason to harbour loyalty for servers yet. Instead of fighting the situation, deal with it.
If your fun is building up a server from the ground to be competitive in WvW, then do it. If your fun is having epic battles in WvW, then you go to the battle. You can’t expect everything to fall into place around your feet.
Stop blaming the game, and start blaming yourself.
Little bit of paranoia here me thinks.
It’s more likely these are people that have been queued up for at least 2 hours and are unable to actually play at that particular time, or taking a break.
These aren’t bots by definition (self-running program) but just auto-repeating macros.
Granted its annoying as kittens to see so many people doing nothing, but feel solace in the fact that it happens on every server with big queues.
Here’s the thing, people want to have fun, I want to have fun. So I moved to a server where it was fun to play again (not Blackgate).
If you’re in this game to play WvW, why sit there and whine about the situation when the tools are right there to enhance your fun.
If your idea of fun is rebuilding an abandoned server, then go ahead and do it. Right now is the best time so soon after the games release, the populations are very fluid and with good reason.
The transfers will calm down soon enough on their own without free transfers being disabled. People are still just looking for a place to call their home.
On our west borderland, we have the orb in the hills keep that we own, and the map says there’s an orb in the very N altar, and in the hills keep altar.
Apparently there are 4 orbs in our matchup. (Not really, the N one is a phantom, shows on the map, not actually in the altar)
The problem with the orbs is that it just isn’t fun fighting against 3 orb enemies.
When it stops being fun, people stop playing. It’s a vicious cycle, the less people play, the less fun everyone has, and the less people play.
Today I watched an unknown transfer commander single handedly kill off what was a nice rising up in an completely captured borderland.
Led the zerg away from a garrison assault to go capture an uncontested supply camp. Many other bad choices salted with long periods (10-20mins) of standing at citadel afk with icon still switched on.
It felt like rival server had sent him here right as we were gaining a foothold back in our home borderlands.
Gold bought commanders need to be removed. Vote ranking is a great idea, in fact I was going to make a very similar (except nowhere near as well thought out) suggestion.
+1
Has anyone even checked the difference in latency between US and EU servers? From both continents? I’m under the impression that there isn’t actually much difference based on the overhead that these servers are dealing with.
You can check your latency (Win7) by opening the Resource Monitor > Networking which you can find under the performance tab in Task Manager.
now with this new issues its totally broken the game on all spec PC’s listed above as have been mentioned by everyone with the invisible enemy/npc’s this happens on all the listed systems above. it also feels like they are not doing proper tests before releasing a patch. they should roll back to before the recent patch asap before they fix the problem
This and this again, I don’t know why they didn’t roll back this portion of the code. It’s killing our server in WvW, noone wants to fight invisible zergs.
Sure relogging fixes it, but face a potential queue every 20-40 minutes of gameplay. Well, for me it seems to last until you get into the first big zerg on zerg and have to rez at a WP.
I’ve played WvW just about every day (that I’m not away for work) since release and I find myself not wanting to log in. It’s just not fun. Especially when your rival has 3xorb advantage. Invisible pew pew where I go splat in seconds when I have 2.8k armor unknowing where to dodge/run/hide.
Please don’t wait until next week to implement a fix for this. By then our server will have completely given up.

As the poster above me pretty much says, who ever claimed WvW was supposed to be balanced? It’s the whole imbalance that keeps it interesting.
The balanced gameplay is over in sPvP territory.
Here’s the thing about metagame spying, I do think it belongs in the game but the problem with it is that there is no way for a server to deal with a spy in its ranks.
Anywhere else, you get caught spying, high treason my friend, you are executed. You can’t do this in Guild Wars 2. People are frustrated that their hands are tied when it comes to dealing with spies.
I mean if people can run around “lolol im a spyz in ur server, wasting ur supplies” then the whole map is going to be demoralised because they can’t do anything about it. You should be afraid of being found out as a spy, there needs to be consequence.
Have the ability to flag someone as a traitor, something like that.
I’ve also been wanting this data-set updated because those older graphs in no way reflect what is going on with queues anymore.
And as much as everyone hates the idea, there are going to be alot of people transferring around in the next week. It’d be better to have these people wanting to move to lower queue times rather than just picking the next winning server due to lack of information.
I never used to think the orbs were that great an advantage, but after being on the receiving end of 3xOrb invaders for the 1st time last night (admittedly I was on the verge of passing out just jumped on quickly after work, totally not on my game) it is a slaughter. Never had a repair bill like that.
It felt like I had gone from being able to tank 8 people for long enough for me to get mykittenouta the fire, to being squished by 3 people before the lag would even let me cast something.
Remove the UNREASONABLE repair cost (10+ silver) for level 80 PvE characters in Wv3

If you can’t afford it, get a set of greens. Its not like you -need- that full set of exotics.
It started 4 days ago, and it’s getting more and more frequent.
This is why i’m opening this thread.
And by making these threads you are making more people aware of an exploit. Including those weak enough to go find these hacks themselves.
Sorry, but these belong in private support tickets. Not in a public forum.
It is quite easy to attack this siege position without getting inside the garrison. Just be prepared to defend the siege you use to do so.
I thought you could just overwrite someones ownership? I think I accidently did this when learning what all the NPC’s do.
So I thought pvp in this game was supposed to be skill based? What a joke!

Well if you wanna go that way fine. This is one of the stupidest things I’ve read in this forum.
Everyone has the same disadvantage when it comes to having lower levels in their WvW. If you’re running around by yourself trying to “duel” other random stragglers, then of course you are only going to come across inexperienced sub-80’s because noone (cept scouts) are stupid enough to run around solo in WvW.
If you are doing this, you are just doing your own server a disservice.
Go check out sPvP, sounds moee like your thing.

I was surviving longer as a sub level 70 in WvW than I am now as an 80. (I think it is mostly with me now being too kitteny, but you get the point).
Low levels are fine in WvW, you don’t need full exotics to run supply, fix walls, scout, etc etc etc.
I don’t understand that even with the new queue time data people aren’t researching and finding servers that suit their play time.
I did this before the queue data was posted by making a mental note of what I thought were the most competitive, then over the course of a couple of weeks transferring around until I got bearable queue times. Man I wish the queue data was up before I started doing this. But realistically it didn’t take me long to find a home.
