I haven’t admitted neither JQ or BG has EU presence. JQ’s is very weak yes, but BG has managed 500 PPT at EU slot multiple times last week. So we’ll see.

that’s ND and MW, plus some of the MERC (MERC has some international players playing) doing extra hours…i pray to the Spirit of the Wilds for their health everyday.

too early to tell, and too hard to tell actually now BG and SoR are improving their coverage. From now on the match will probably be determined by many other factors than coverage alone.

For JQ, despite what i usually said about JQ, i do believe that they still have the potential to make a come back. Its large PvE population is a weakness, but it can also be a strength. Now that the new dungeon is removed, we shall see if those gold medals
actually mean anything significant other than “I have better SEA coverage”.

Lacking hardcore wvw guilds.
guild drama, what i have heard from a very reliable source.

For BG, it’s weakness is lack of consistency, we all know that it can suffer from short period of burn-out. But BG guild’s passion for wvw is its biggest asset. You should never underestimate a server that’s willing to play overtime to win a match. I still do think there’s a pretty chance BG will come out on top. I think it has the most balanced coverage in T1.

Strength:
Balanced coverage across different timezone
Strong SEA, decent NA
playing overtime

Weakness:
burnout, lack of consistency.

For SoR, IRON will definitely give SoR the edge over other 2 servers to compete for the No.1. SoR’s new EU will probably recover the points lost during SEA prime time and building a groundwork for NA. SEA coverage is still an issue but i actually think the current SoR SEA guilds are doing a solid job so far, given the size of SoR SEA population.

I have posted this in another thread, but in hopes for more people reading it, I have make it a thread starter on its on.As someone who rarely post and visit forum, I want this to illuminate how an outsider views all these bickering, useless whining that is generated by the forum community.

This post is directed at the people who are worried/ complaining/ angry about the Ascended gear that’s coming out, at the people who cry about being lied to and at the people who wants to boycott gem purchase and events because they think Anet is introducing a treadmill.

Lemme ask you something first.

Are you one of the devs? Because unless you are one, then everything you have stated are pure speculation. You don’t actually know what this ‘other reward’ they’re giving you in the future is, and you just assume its more gear with better stats for you to grind . Nor do you know if they are actually basing the reward on replicating a treadmill (which would be stupid, as they have already stated in the same post that they aren’t going to roll out a better set of gear every 3 month in their post)

Everything you see wrong, everything you are scared that might happen, are merely produced by a lack of faith on your part. You panicked – like I did – when you saw a new tier coming out. You immediately assumed Anet has abandoned its core philosophy, which might not be the case. And its been 3 days. 7000 posts have been created. Time to get over it.

This is exactly why I hate coming to this forum particularly as of now.

Everything everyone says are all speculation. They are twisting the developers word into something far more sinister, in hopes to induce mayhem so they could find belongings within a larger crowd. Everything feels like the mob effect to me.

Nothing the dev said ever indicated a gear treadmill. In fact, they have continuously assure you that it is not their intention to created a treadmill, but you refuse to believe because you think you have been lied to.

Once again, I’m just going to say this.
You need to wake up.

Nothing is concrete yet. Think about what you actually know.

Do you actually know the ascended gears are better than Exotic? Do you actually know how the agony buff is going to work? Do you actually know anything about the new gating mechanic, about the new dungeon, about infusion and how it is going to work?

Nope.

You only have 3 screenshots, which actually tells very little about what is coming and can be misinterpreted and misleading depends on how you view these screenshot. You don’t even know what infusion look like. Whining about a mechanic is one thing, whining about something that you know nothing about, and isn’t even out yet, is downright ridiculous.

And when there are so many people crying on forum about something they don’t even know about, something they only speculate what its going to be without knowing what they’re actually getting, The community seems disgusting, and ridiculous, and childish, and whiny.

And pathetic.

I hope you read everything, don’ t get offended, and hopefully take it as something of a critical criticism of the way forum has been the past few days- though you probably won’t. I have very little faith in forum goers these-adays.

I will not be replying this thread. I’m done. If you like it bump it. If you don’t, see if I care. At the end of the day, it seems to me everything is pure whine on these forums anyway and the rare, constructive posts always gets drowned in angry tears.

Arrow cart was fine, it does not need any damage buff, and i don’t think it will address the issue of zerging meta, instead, it replace the current zerg meta with a worse one: lazy bunker meta.

pre-patch:

The successful defense of any given structures in wvw relies on the synergy of 3 things:
siege users, defenders on the wall, and ground troops.

You need sieges like arrow cart to provide fire support and limited deterrence.
You need the mobility and other useful profession-related skills of the defenders on the wall. (ex. provide healing+ shield to the siege users, plus addtional AoEs)
You need the ground fources to be ready to move out the make a push.

You need ( or needed now with the new patch) these 3 thing to work co-operatively for a successful defense.

You could not defend a keep with a bunch of eles or rangers standing on wall, they will just get torn apart by all the Necro marks.

You could not defend a keep with sieges alone, they are static, and have slower firing rate.

You could not defend a keep with ground troop alone, with all that AoEs half of them would probably be dead when they exit the gate.

I think the synergy of these three is what makes wvw fun for a lot of us. I remember when i was playing with my ranger, i love standing on the wall and use my under-power longbow attacking those invaders. I know a lvl 5 noob with a arrow cart can probably do better than me when it comes to doing damage, and it’s very risky to stand on the wall when there are 10 eles casting meteors shower at me, nevertheless, it gives the battle a certain ‘flavor’ that can not be replaced by manning on a arrow cart and mashing 1,2,3.

This patch is gonna change that, i think.

Anet has buffed up the damage of arrow carts to the point that all you need to do is to have 5 people bunker down in your precious little keeps and use arrow carts to do all the work for you.

Ground troops? nope, no need to have actual face-to-face zerg clash, no more commander urging the pve militia to ‘stack. buff-up, we are making a push’, they will probably be acting solely as the ’ cleaning-up crews’ from now on: finishing those downed enemies and collecting bags.

Defenders on the wall? no need, arrow carts kill the enemies before you even need to heal the lvl 5 noob that’s been using arrow arts. No profession related skills are required, just mashing 1,2,3.

I know some people would say, ’ it kills zerg !.’ It’s stop people from pvdoor’, ‘it give defender a chance to defend’

First, you don’t want to replace a bad meta with a worse meta. Yes, zerging is bad, it’s stale, but bunker down in tower and let the arrow carts replacing the zerg is even a worse idea. I don’t see mashing 1,2,3, is any better than zerg vs zerg.

As for the pvdoor issue or giving defender a fighting chance when they are out-manned, well, of all the options Anet can do they picked the worst and imbalance, one. They could have make the gate stronger, or they could have make those guards npcs somewhat useful (we have a wvw trait line that specifically design for dealing with NPC, i mean seriously? they don’t go down fast enough?), or how about redesign out-manned buff completely? or find a better way to balance out server population and time zone issues?

if buffing up arrow cart’s is Anet’s attempt to address the wvw issues, then i am truly disappointed. I thought you guys were much more innovative than this…

People still play this game because it’s the only game out there that has ‘decent’ RvR (and now Anet is ruining it), they won’t hesitate to quit when there’s a better game, i think it’s a good thing Camelot Unchained is getting kickstart funded.

Not sure if this is anecdotal or not, but April saw the departure of at least four well-known gaming communities from GW2 as dedicated communities.

most of those guilds (PRX, TL…) are hardcore wvw guilds, they were here for wvw to begin with. Given the current situation of wvw and the lack of communications from wvw devs, i am not surprise they quit.

That does not mean the whole game is dying, it just means that the devs need to start doing so kittening work to improve wvw.

Guilds split up, thats part and parcel. Its already a done deal, no point crying over spilled milk. Different people pursue different things, that is why there is such a split in the first place, members made decisions to stay and some to leave. There is no right or wrong.

In the end, everybody got what they wanted, be it staying in JQ or leaving to DB. Most impt is to have fun guys! This episode should be closed by now.

Let’s be honest, here’s what happened. WM/MEOW/etc transferred to BG and started fighting NA/OC/AZ timezone and got wrecked. Jang and co seeing they couldn’t compete changed their schedules and started logging in en masse for EU TZ which was dead for the other 2 servers.

Whatever may come out of Jang’s mouth, 2 things are clear: 1. WM isn’t in it for the “challenge”. and 2. They don’t have the chops for T1 combat.

Why has JQ been so angry lately?

It’s just a game, you guys have been 1st for so long. You don’t always have to be #1.

Because of the constant 2v1. I was completely fine with it when we were on top and its completely fine to do it to make things even. Now SOR has taken about being a bunch of kittens. Might as well rename Sanctum of Rall to Blackgate 2.

So it’s okay to 2v1 ONLY if you do it?

Its ok to 2v1 in specific map circumstances were its beneficial. Its also ok to 2v1 the top server to keep things even. Its not ok to 2v1 the non top server for two weeks straight on all maps.

you always pick the weakest one out of three to maximize your advantage, you avoid the one in equal power or stronger one to minimize damage.

JQ would have done the same thing to any other server if they can, it’s a valid strategy in 3 way fight like this.

JQ’s gonna lose again this week if they don’t push harder during weekdays.

BG let you guys had an easy start during weekend, but JQ is slacking off, just like what happened last week, JQ had lead up until the middle of the week and then BG catches up.

Sound strategy from BG imo, let JQ’s pve force building up their fake confidence (lots of them still believe that JQ’s SEA is the strongest ) during weekend (all that ‘Burnoutgate’ mockery), and then BG use the remaining week to push as hard as they can, and lock down the victory 1 days before the reset.

basically a lot of JQs were arguing with each others like an hour ago in LA mapchat… they talk about EMP being useless and NA guilds not trying hard enough. They started all the discussion by themselves, without my input.

i am sad now

wvw devs don’t care, it’s simple, even if they do they are not showing it.

A few days ago i made a post asking them if they can give us some updates about their plan for wvw in the future, such as server balance, zerg meta..etc, they did not reply.

we have plenty of devs updating community about the pve stuffs (just go to the SAB forum and see it yourself)

we have spvp devs doing monthly state of the game podcast with spvp community, i am not saying that the spvp team is perfect or something but at least they are trying.

wvw? We have nothing. Some of the wvw issues have been pointed out by players for a long time, the server lag, the boring meta of zerging, server imbalance, lack of incentives for wvw…etc

i truely hope the devs can start addressing these issues, keep us informed.

You seem mad. Ive yet to see you once in WvW frudoo and your on JQ so why don’t you take your own advice? Also, JQ did receive quite a few guilds, I wasn’t very happy with the Euro stacking, but we did not recruit entire servers.

Totally agree OP find a new game with things you enjoy, trying to convince people with blind faith in a product will never work.

As for the game dying not sure but from what i’ve seen its drastically declined in the past few months and so many players have taken breaks or moved on..

So each time i see Nerf this and Nerf that with very little content fillers and major mechanics overhauls i see massive groups leave, which doesn’t help the game..

Personally think you’re wasting you effort trying to explain to blind faith player that spend their whole lives on the forum defending a game and never playing it..

Thanks for supporting. These are kinda the views I’ve seen from a large number of players. I would consider myself a very large fan, and I still actively play, but I’m not afraid of admitting to the game’s downfalls and weaknesses.

a lot of people like me are critical of the game, we just don’t think the game is dying base on our experience of playing the game everyday. It is possible that the game will die in the future, just like all other MMO out there, but i don’t see GW2 showing the signs of a dying game, at least for now. They have a good business model here, with all the regular free content updates.

JQ as a whole has gotten bored of the repetitive wvw match up that we have now since the match up hasn’t changed much in a long time. (Guest in JQ la and ask this is the answer that you will get) Overall JQ is tired of wvw after weekend hype and a large lead and says lets go do something else that we havn’t been doing for months on end. I like how when BG was losing over the weekend, never heard a peep really out of them. Now that they are ticking at over 500 they think they are so superior. They always blamed JQ for PvD. I guess I can say the same for them now since they have had bascically three servers merge into each other.

Eh whats up with this negative comments about EMP leaving JQ? I think some peoples fail to realize that EMP do this because EMP want to find a new challenge and most importantly is to give a more balanced match in T1 (something that alot of folks in T1 is kittening and whining all day)

JQ absolute dominating T1? not even close, maybe during asia/oceanic primetime on week days, but during NA time slot? they are weak compared to SoR.
