The folder he is talking about houses the .dat file, which for me is 25GB+. If I relocate the file and folder and everything in it, and try to run the game, the folder is recreated and the 25-gig .dat file starts redownloading. it’s annoying, i agree. I wanted to be able to put GW on a gaming-specific solid-state drive, different from the one where my operating system is (for performance, convenience, and stability) but don’t find a way to do so. Guild wars saves online, the only things that are written into the local machine are save e-mail and password (if any), in-game preferences (sound, graphics), and screenshots. The rest all seems to be system files that are not unique to the account.
I think it would be very interesting if ANet introduced something like the Bonus Mission packs of GW1. An instanced solo-mission, that can be repeated on any other character but can only be completed once by each character, that takes you into some more lore of the five races.
They could unlock access to other races’ armor by completing events like: you’d have to prove your prowess to the Norn before they will craft you armor, or prove your intelligence by passing a crazy jumping puzzle for the Asura, go on a scavenger hunt for the Sylvari, kill a bunch of renegade Charr to prove your ferocity, and do something related to politics for the Humans), and even give you an option to change your race. As for the Personal Story, since you’re level 80 and have completed the game (assumption), they could just wipe it. Heck, it could be a requirement to have completed the game before you take part in this story.
As for the level of difficulty scaling to the reward… your character is already level 80, so put in a few Vets and such and make it tough to complete solo forcing you to THINK and use a survivable build.
To be quite honest, even if the Story panel were unchanged as well as the Home Instance, I don’t EVERY go there for ANY reason, so I really wouldn’t care if I have a Human-turned-Charr in Salma District talking to the humans as if I were one of them (still).
And with that said, I’d gladly pay $30 bucks for the additional content.
I can confirm that Borlis Pass does work, as I visited their server as a guest. It is currently broken in Henge of Denravi as well as Stormbluff Isle.
I have noticed that the Trading Post is very buggy on Vista, but not as much on XP. When I’m at school, I play on my laptop running Vista. I tried rootsupd.exe fix, re-installing fix, checked all internet explorer settings, firewall settings, granted gw2 FULL access to do whatever the heck it pleases (wouldn’t recommend this option), tried disabling all security software, etc. TP worked once when I first tried the Rootsup.exe fix but that was also right after an update. It’s been broken ever since. I’m often able to load the BUY tab, but when I click an item to buy it the button is greyed out. Also, I should note that the one time the service was working I wasn’t able to type any numbers in; they’d automatically change to red and the button disabled. The only way around it was to check all of the selling sources, then delete the numbers in quantity to match what I wanted. For example, the total it would show was 1,345,654 and I’d just delete the 5,654 and I’d be able to buy 134. But if I tried typing anything in there, it would bug out. As of right now I’m trying to -repair command line prompt. I’ll update this after it runs.
