I’ve also got FPS problems at these encounters. the FPS always weren’t that great for me, but the game took a definite performance hit after the patch, and it#s not just AC, the fps drops also in other places with many mobs/players ( I mean more than before)
You’re creating an issue were none exists. In my experience 2 servers of same nationality are even more eager to go for each others throat. I suspect it is because they can actually flame themselves efficiently and understand it, also rivalry ‘who is the best server of the country’ could play a role.
As a german server it’s a bit more complicated to find someone for offtime-hours…
Yeah yeah, I know…we germans could just go to an int server.
You don’t have to apologize for a player you don’t even know. I certainly don’t go around apologizing for everyone doing something wrong in my hometown.
That ‘weird reason’ is easily explained: the EU Servers can’t maintain as great a nightshift as on the weekends during workdays. Your US Players simply dominate much more in numbers from Monday on.

Regarding real world events in a fantasy world…well as long as it’s integrated in a good way?
Anyway, it’s a bit hypocritic to lament this. Because in GW you already have asian inspired culture, arabic inspired culture, aztec inspired culture and so on.
Fantasy worlds in themselves are just reflections of the real world.
Well i actually see this as a positive thing and i hope this might happen on other servers to so makes it more fun for everyone at anytime of the day and removes this lame “ohh you win only by night capping” This is WAR :P 24/7 so lets have some http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDxCBx9Xb1I

So yes…and the german Servers take who?
Sure, there are numerous german communities overseas, but there are no german speaking nations over there. The ability for german servers to get nightshift players is significant lower than it is for other languages.
If other-language server konsolidate more – and they will naturally – I fear the german servers will be left in the dust. As there is a large german-speaking community in europe, it could be possible that one Server will be chosen as nightshift Server and can play in the upper brackets – the rest will be mediocre at best because of nightcapping.
At the moment it looks as Elona will be this one server, as it had a nightshift going and large parts of riverside WvW guilds transferred there. We will see how they will hold against Vizunah next week.
Sorry, but I really have to chime in here. If you think Kodash and Elona double teamed you last time, you’re completely wrong. There is some serious hatred going on especially between these two, but all top 3 of the german servers have a go at each other. Kodash even virtually stopped playing in the 2nd machtup with Elona (without you) because Elona was trainwrecking the total points through massive Nightcapping, winning by over 100.000.
There are some serious Flamewars in the threads about the matchups, but you can’t know because…well they flame each other in german of course.
One last advice:
In every matchup theres a time where you have the feeling the other two servers are working together. Guess what, that’s really never the case, it’s just subjective gutfeeling.
ANYTHING that creates a disparity between two random players’ experiences is going to be a no-go, based on Mike Ferguson’s previous postings about this subject.
No player should log in and have less of a WvW experience simply because he lives a certain place, or has a certain time schedule. If a player never gets to assault or defend a keep, he is being forbidden a part of the experience for no other reason than his geographical and/or socio-economic situation.[/quote]
I see this point and I am actually with you (and him) on this. The problem i see is that the CURRENT situation is also creating a disparity, through nullifiing whatever the server did on daytime.
Currently points tend to be much closer to each other during daytime. WvW matches are decided in the night – thus lessening the impact a daytime player can have on WvW.
But this is all drifting solely to the nightshift problem – my main problem is that upgrading big keeps seems almost useless due to loosing it in the night due to the population disparities.
I’m not talking about locking the whole thing down, read more closely. I was only referring to the big keeps. Part of the idea came from people investing less and less in upgrading the big keeps, because “this waypoint will be gone tommorrow regardless of what I do”
And I’m sorry if this idea in a similar form was already posted, I looked at different threads but did not do a throrough research.
Also before you’re going to attack me, It wasn’t a proposal to do exactly this. It was more ‘thinking how to approach certain points without stopping people from playing during nighttime’ namely big chunks of points skewering WvW results and – more importantly – to make it more desireable to upgrade big keeps.
When you say “night time”, which time zone are you talking about?
If after answering that question you still think this is a good idea, there is no hope for you.
I’m talking about timezones in which the servers are deployed.
But I see what you mean. I obviously thought primarily about europe where everyone has the same general time (+- 1 to 2 hours) so there wouldn’T be much of a problem defining the timeframe. The US Servers act more as international servers and could have more problems.
That’s regrettably not true, just because a server has a strong night activity doesn’t mean he has no players during daytime.
And the second point is even if it balances itself out, there will be a point of overlapping between ‘normal’ servers and night-active servers…. a point I really don’t whish to be in.
Hello, I just want to share an idea about the night cappings and what could be a middleway on reducing its impact without taking WvW from nightraiders. I’m not a native speaker of english, so bear with me.
My idea is to lock down the primary keeps (the 20 points upwards keeps) during nighttime, perhaps starting around 2am. What would this entail:
- they would be unconquerable during this time. doors could not be damaged, the keep lord would be invulnerable, you name it.
- upgrades would not progress, no new supplies would be delivered.
- eventual waypoints build in them wouldn’t be usable
- people could leave the keeps if in them, but not enter (disabled portals at doors)
- they would not produce points
They would essentially be frozen in time. This would enable playing WvW for the depots and numerous towers. Because Nighttime normally has way fewer players, the reduced number of hotspots should not be a problem.
This is just a thought that crossed my mind and is definetly not thought through. But I would like to know if it would be a feasible idea.
What they should do is making the token account bound. It wouldn’t fix all problems, but it would gibe much more flexibility, like if I wanted to run the dungeon with my ranger, but farm the set for my guardian. I could switch proffessions/playstyles to keep it fresh longer.
And there would be no drawbacks. I would still have to spend the same time playing as with one character, but I’d have more Choice.
On another note, I really would like them to cut down on the number of runs needed. It’s just to much, especially if you consider extra things like the potion recipes for 400(!) token
I don’t need the dungeons to be easier, but what I would wish for would be more feedback from the game about what’s going on, for example could bosses yell something or the lights could begin to flicker. Theres also the problem of ranged attacks with traveltime – which they don’t have if they hit a melee.
Also: the combatlog should show me what hit me, not just what damage I was doing, I know that myself.
As it is with certain classes/weaponcombos in my group, there are so much spell effects on the mobs I can’t distinguish certain Animations. Other ways of feedback would alleviate this.
