Had it before as well. Had to restart my PC to get rid of it.
Wonder why Anet hasn’t included a disable sound option entirely from the game instead of relying on turning volume down.
That’s why it should be considered an exploit. Either they need to fix it or they need to place limits on guesting.
Are folks suggesting that, if I want to play with friends, I can’t get the same opportunities for loot? That sounds unfair.
If the goal is reduced overflow, ANet can:
- Reduce world-event pinata level loot to January levels.
- Limit the total number of such chests lootable per character, regardless of server (e.g. 6 chests per toon every 24 hours).
- Limit the total number of such chests lootable per account (e.g. 12 chests per player).
- Limit all rewards based on zone, e.g. you can only mine 2 ori nodes in Frostgorge regardless of guesting: both on home server, both on guest server(s), or one each. The same would apply to chests: one Claw of Jormag chest regardless of how many servers you guest to.
Finally, as of yet, there’s no specific evidence that your server is getting more guests at these events than any other server. It’s a plausible theory and I don’t have any trouble believing it could be true, but I don’t see any proof that is true.
Sounds like a dirty chest exploiter to me :P
Yes we are suggesting it due to players inconveniencing other players. The majority of people guesting are using it solely to obtain 3 times the amount of loot from the same event.
I would love to see guests get kicked to overflow to make room for home server players. I would love to see them not able to exploit the system. There should be penalties for the exploiters (don’t see it happening, Anet can’t afford to ban their playerbase).
We don’t have the exact numbers, but Anet does and they can surely see the problems that are being caused. When I arrive BEFORE the spawn window of a dragon and I am placed in overflow, that really rustles my jimmies.
Agreed. Surely exploiting guesting for chest events should be a bannable offense? This wasn’t an intended use of it and it makes life unpleasant for players whose home servers are affected by this plague.
I also suggested removing chest rewards for guests or a guesting cooldown of 4 hours.
Now it’s so bad, that the guests actually manage to keep homeserver players from their own bloody maps because they just camp the spawn when the window for it opens. Please Anet, stop this madness of guesting!
Suggestions once again: If guesting, chests are not available for loot. Or make a 4 hour cooldown between server guesting changes for the entire account.
It would lag but never as badly as it has been since the patch landed. Overflow is not the answer as players that end up on it may as well not even bother because the event won’t happen there at the same time.
Guesting has exacerbated the issue due to many more players doing the events because of greater rewards. I think the lag would be horrendous just with home server players but now that we have server hopping dragon chasers it is just that much worse.
Anet needs to look in to putting a system in place to curb the abuse of the freely being able to server hop. Whether it is cooldown of a few hours (for the whole account) or not being able to obtain chest loot when guesting, just to alleviate the strain that the servers are being hammered with. I know I sound like a party pooper but being unable to do an event properly (I still get gold somehow so loot isn’t an issue) is just frustrating and it’s even worse when I am forced on to overflow from my own server because of the population of another server squatting on Dragon maps. Hell, Anet has access to the exact numbers so I could be talking absolute tosh here or they know what’s really up and they are hoping that people will calm down with the server hopping. My bets would be on more people doing it as knowledge of it becomes more and more widespread.
Yes we all know about it. But it is pretty bad and I am well aware that Anet would know about this. But I shall say my piece anyway.
I reckon most of the lag is coming from these 2 things.
1: The new Dynamic Event feature that is in beta that is possibly causing server side lag.
2: The guesting system. People frolicking freely from server to server putting undue pressure upon the servers making homeworld events bad. Put a cooldown or something on it so that people cannot abuse it for Dragon chest farming.
The lag is so bad, the Dragons can’t even function properly. We took Claw of Jormag down below the 50% in one go because it couldn’t take off.
Hoping it gets sorted soon!
I wouldn’t mind having some sort of recognition for my 100k that I completed yesterday…
+1 for ???
