Problem returned after trying to update DirectX as described here:
Question for Jazhara – Why would I want to reinstall dx9 runtimes if I’m currently using DirectX11? Are they unrelated?
Guild wars 2 is a Direct X 9 game.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but should I uninstall DirectX 11 and go back to DirectX 9, or can I have both 9 and 11 installed and direct GW2 to only use 9?
UPDATE: Just tried that link above to see if DirectX9 could be installed over 11, and no go. Here’s a screen capture.
Now I’m stuck at “Downloading 0kB” as described here:

I’m having the same problem, same screen appears. I’ve followed every suggestion I could find…updated drivers, used drive sweepers, disabled UAC, uninstalled virus checkers, searched for weird dll files….no luck. I hope someone can figure this out.
UPDATE: I’m not sure why this worked, but I physically removed my Radeon GPU, rebooted, and let the on-board NVIDIA chip take over. (NOTE: I did NOT remove the Radeon driver…just the card itself.) I then executed Gw2.exe and the download started. After confirming that the game would load and run, I then powered off my computer, plugged the Radeon GPU back in, rebooted, and confirmed that the game would still run using the Radeon…..and it does.
