I got a refund:

I have an idea why they changed:
They didn’t get the £65 from my digital collector’s edition purchase (at least for longer than 3 months) – http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/6020/notanidlethreat2.png

I got the refund.
And my path is separate from GW2.

I think a previous post of mine had a link removed.

The resolution of my complaint.
Well I got my refund, maybe I’ll look back in a year and see how much grind I missed, and be grateful I stayed away; or that there was no grind to miss and maybe come back and play.

My comment was deleted… only because I said I didn’t want to play anymore thanks to this….
They have money for overzealous mods but not more people to tackle skill balance and debugging it seems.
If you want to reduce the amount of money they have, there is always:

To those saying they want to hit ANet in their wallets:

I have already filed my ticket.
I tried, but I was stupid enough to pre-order the game, so they told me I was out of the 6 month window for refunds.
In that case I would try and find something equivalent to a small claims court, as you must have paid for goods and not received them for more than 4 months, yet they are claiming this as part of your time with the product?

No need to go all the way for False Advertising (unless you really want to), you can hurt them on their bottom line by requesting a refund:

Here is my thought given that my thread about simply leaving the game was deleted:

Well I decided to post a complaint to the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) given the contradiction between these sources:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en-gb/news/is-it-fun-colin-johanson-on-how-arenanet-measures-success/
and
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear
Key differences that I could see:
June 2012: The rarest items have unique looks to help your character feel that sense of accomplishment, but it’s not required to play the game… those who don’t are just as powerful and get to have fun too.
and
November 2012: Ascended gear has Infusion slots, and rarer versions of the items also come with additional Agony Resistance built into them.
June 2012: We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills
and
November 2012: The only way to mitigate Agony damage is by building up resistance through Infusions, a new type of upgrade component that can be acquired in the Mystic Forge.
I bought this game under the distinct impression that I could get to max level/equipment, then play how I wanted to (which may itself include periods of not playing – I work full time and have other games to play). I have only 1 level 80 character, approximately 70% exotics and was working on the rest (with the rest currently including jewellery so at the moment I’m not strictly speaking affected, but the effect of this update is to make me very angry at the future prospects). I had also decided to perhaps start levelling some alternate characters, and when those character slots are all full to perhaps have bought more over the coming years, along with expansion packs etc.
Depending on the outcome I’m not sure I will bother, after all, I still have many games in my library that I haven’t even touched yet. I can just as easily abandon this game as ANet has abandoned their principles.
Warhorn untraited: 15 seconds fury 35 second recharge => 3/7 uptime.
Warhorn traited: 15 seconds fury 28 second recharge => >1/2 uptime.
Swapping being traited and untraited offers 2 uses of the warhorn.
Rampage as One: 20 seconds fury 120 second recharge. => 1/6 uptime.
1/2 > 3/7
1/6 > 1/7
3/7 + 3/7 + 1/7 = 1, so with this combination you can build up several minutes of fury out of combat when you enter a map. And spend you life doing nothing but clicking traits and skills.
Same applies for swiftness from these skills.
You could always join a queue for WvWvW, use the teleport pad there, use the repair facility there, then log out and log back in. This will have the effect of reviving you in the exact place that you died (provided you weren’t already in an instance) with repaired armour.
The downside is that a full server will mean that you may need to queue for WvWvW.
Maybe as a result of all the ra(n)gers quitting, they will need to take a 7% paycut. People who aren’t playing, aren’t paying in the cash shop.
Perhaps if the ‘on critical hit have a chance to inflict bleeding’ trait gave more than 1 stack of 1 second of bleed with a percentage chance, say maybe 3 seconds of 1 stack of bleed guaranteed on the critical, perhaps that would compensate.

A quick Calc spreadsheet using the conversion rate at the time I decided to look shows that the most cost effective method to fill up space is to use rugged leather bags (disregarding the cost of the leather in the recipe using only rune cost and gold => gems => bag slots), and that it is never worthwhile to use the bags with higher capacity. If you need more capacity, you buy more bag slots (using gold to gems) instead of the runes.
In niche cases it may be worthwhile to use thin or coarse leather bags instead of entirely rugged, (for instance to increase capacity by 52 beyond the starter backpack, you would be most cost effective using 2 rugged, 1 coarse and 1 thin with ~230 copper spent per slot, then 54 slots using 2 rugged 2 coarse at ~240 copper spent per slot, then 55 slots using 3 rugged, 1 thin at ~250 copper spent per slot, …, 60 slots using 4 rugged at ~333 copper per slot).
At current prices and capacities, it will never be worthwhile to make anything beyond rugged.
The star that you can display next to your health bar renders at 0 depth rather than at the depth of the health bar. As such when viewed in 3D you have 2 stars floating (potentially quite far depending on your depth setting) from the intended spot on the health bar.
There already is a mini game in the norn home city (reachable through an asuran gate from their home city to lion’s arch, then through another asuran gate to the norn home city) in the form of something like the snowball fights IIRC. Although it involves retrieving barrels of ale as opposed to presents. We must be trying to get our youths fixed into an alcohol problem from an early age
State of my game from last night after having going into a dungeon explorable without experience, not reading the options and being rail-roaded into an option (I don’t know whether or not it was the ‘easiest’ option, but it featured a boss that would pull everyone to him, stun them and then instantly kill everyone – great first experience of that explorable!), getting significant chunks of my armour damaged or destroyed; having gone to this dungeon because I had spent the last of my money on crafting materials – to help get guildies level 80 armour (yellow), which I did without charging them – so as such I ‘lost’ a lot of money), having got a drop of 5 silver(!) from 1 mob boss I decided to cut my losses for the night and didn’t actually finish the explorable (other people had already started quitting).
Todays gaming:
Following what could be considered leaving the game yesterday in the worst possible state last night, I decide to spend the last of my money to teleport to the nearest major city to use the asura portal to get to lion’s arch and access a bank where I remembered long ago getting a repair canister from a rare (!) unlocked chest (rare compared with the drop rate on the actual chests themselves), repairing the armour that I was wearing, and then spending another 2 silver repairing an armour piece that I had swapped out after it had become destroyed. This leaves me with about enough money to get to a dungeon again, and remembering that the dungeons give 26 silver for a completed story run, I choose to join a group.
The group on entry seems disorganised, with someone at some point deciding to pull a complete extra mob onto us; and ultimately at the end of the run I have about 4 armour pieces damaged. Eventually the cinematic plays which I choose to skip having seen it before (but not in the past 24h) and wait for the reward (after about 2 minutes deciding what it wants to do) of 5 silver. Great. Well I made maybe about 1 silver from the run.
So I decide instead I’ll go kill some mobs for crafting materials and in a much shorter time (maybe 15 minutes all told) manage to gather several tier 5 materials to sell for ~1s each after deductions on the TP and make ~32s, but will have to repair 1 piece of armour (~1.5s) and teleport back there again (~2.5s).
I decide to give up for the night after maybe 1 hour gaming time. Progress towards exotic armour set, negligible. Progress towards the daily (which I have always tried to finish), no gathering, maybe 1 or 2 events, not many kills with little variety. But at least I now have a float of money that I can use.
I think tomorrow I will just farm the mobs for crafting materials to sell, because at this stage I don’t care about looks, I just want to get the end tier armour/weapons. Or even just complete crafting the rare armour set I’m about halfway through for myself.
Or maybe I’ll go back to the games I was playing before I heard just prior to launch that GW2 was coming out. I will NOT spend money in the shop with the current state of affairs.
I think the best advice is to get a skill that gives you stability for a reasonable duration. Then you can’t be launched. Rampage as One for the ranger gives this skill.
Could you not make a new necromancer, then use the transmute stone to put the appearance onto a crafted armour, then transfer that item to your level 80?
