I noticed that False Oasis creates a circle with some purple trees when you cast it, but I couldn’t figure out what it actually does. At first I thought I had to stay inside it to receive healing, but I was able to walk out of it and continue being healed.

With the current elite specialization costs, you could unlock your entire HoT elite specialization with only central tyria hero challenges, and I’m hoping that you could do that again for PoF elite specializations and only HoT hero challenges. That way I can try out all of the new stuff while working on hero challenges for the next expansion.
That’s not true. There are 189 HPs in core tyria (every map that counts for map completion), a few more in Southsun, Dry Top and Silverwastes, and then a handful in WvW. But you need 250 to unlock your HoT elite spec. So best case is you have around 200 HP from core tyria, would still need 5 HoT HPs to fully unlock the spec
Oooh, you’re right. Sorry.

When HoT first came out, elite specs cost more than they did now (around 500 hero points, maybe), but they eventually lowered it because of complaints. I don’t really want to go through that again.

This is just a guess, but you all seem to have posted this near the daily reset time. Maybe that broke your heart?
I wonder if they actually went and increased drop rates of “rarer” stuff for beta characters as some kind of joke, because of all the people talking about this happening.
I know I’m replying kinda late, but I guess I somehow completely missed that blog post and interview. Thank you! It makes more sense if they plan to create new icons and make elite specializations a bigger thing once HoT comes out. Looking forward to seeing that!
I know there have a bunch of threads on the names of specific elite specializations, but isn’t the way elite specializations are named as a whole kinda strange? Core specializations have a “discipline” type naming scheme, which makes it easy to say something like:
Oh, I specialize in Zeal.
I specialize in Skirmishing!
I specialize in Earth.
I specialize in Curses.
Elite specializations have a “profession” naming scheme, so we end up having to say this:
I’m a Chronomancer.
I’m a Reaper.
I’m a Dragonhunter.
Because “I specialize in Druid” doesn’t really work.
I guess it could be a new convention that elite specializations are more “defining” for characters and therefore they deserve these more “solid” names, but it seems kinda weird because they’re presented together in the UI, in the same list and stuff.
tldr:
Corruption, Tactics, Alchemy, Skirmishing, Shadow Arts, Arcane, Inspiration, Death Magic… Dragonhunter.
They don’t match.
Shouldn’t it be more like:
Dragonhunter -> Faith
Herald -> Revelation
Beserker -> Temper
Unknown -> Smithing
Druid -> Botany
Daredevil -> Bravery
Tempest -> Energy
Chronomancer -> Chronomancy
Reaper -> Terror
These names are all terrible, and you could probably think of much better ones.
Once deleted, the character’s name is ‘saved’ for 24 hours only. If you wish to reserve a name for an upcoming HoT character, you would be best served by creating a non-beta character, and then deleting it right before launch.
Good luck.
I would actually wait until you go in game to make the actual HOT character with that name before deleting it.
How can you do that? You can’t have 2 chars with the same name. The placeholder char will have to be deleted first.
I think they meant to wait until after launch, then deleting your temporary character right before you make your real character. ^^;
I wish they would just auto-reset our beta accounts when we deleted all of our characters.
I think you’ll need to use hero points to unlock your new specialization’s circles. :o
[Suggestion] Alacrity effect on skill icons
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: LadySuccubus.4752
Right now Alacrity turns our skill recharge numbers green, but it might be helpful if something happened to the icon itself to suggest that it was recharging faster. Maybe the icon could get some kind of spinning gradient effect, sorta like the effects people put onto progress bars to make them feel like they’re moving faster?
Oops. I accidentally deleted my older, more detailed post.
Our wells all pretty much look the same, especially during combat. Even if our utilities aren’t changed to be more readable at a glance, our healing well should be at least as flashy as our elite one (except white or blue instead of black) for us to be able to expect people to be able to realize it’s good and run into (or stay inside) it. :/
