I have a:
5K iMac late 2017
4 Ghz Core i7
32GB Ram
Radeon R9 295x 4096MB
is there anyone with this setup that uses the Mac client? Success? I tried the client long long ago and it was really really bad. Has it improved!?
It works pretty okay in the windows client. (I obviously don’t expect to play 5k or super high resolutions.) I can play with pretty much everything on high and maintain 45-100+ fps depending on what is going on at 1440p. If I play 1080p then it is around 55-100+ fps. If I lower settings a tad and put vertical sync on it is a solid 60fps.
Since I have success with using boot camped windows 10 you may want to know why i want to use the Mac client.
The reason is simple, I don’t use windows for anything. I just use it to play games and even then I don’t play often because I don’t like using windows or having to switch back to my Mac when I need to do some work. I like Mac because for me it works much better as a productivity machine and I could never go back to Windows learning to implement unix shells or trying to patch up the system for work related things.
I haven’t played GW2 much. Mostly, I am a very casual player so I don’t know if this is widely known. My apologies if this is something everyone knows about.
Weapon Swap before level 10.
You can do this by entering the PVP zone equipping weapons in all weapon slots and leave. Now you can PVE with more skills before level 10.
If you dequip the weapon in the PVE zone you can’t re-equip it. But, if you repeat the process of going to a PVP zone you can get weapon again after leaving the PVP zone.
I am sure there is a lot of other things you could using this technique although I haven’t tried.
Honestly, I like this bug. Getting weapon swap before level 10 is a lot of fun.
Cheers All!
Thanks for sharing this build. I have been using it the last day or so. It is a lot of fun. I am also new and do pretty well with it. Can lock down people pretty fast. I play a thief as well so it was an easy transition.
I recommend it. It is a rough start, but once you get the hang of it, this build destroys things and is A LOT OF FUN.
I have tried out meta builds and stuff but they are not “fun.” I really enjoy this build.

Thanks for the info guys! I was also wondering if anyone else wanted to see more flails or is it something I am alone in hoping for? Even as just a few unique skins it would be really cool in my opinion.
This is maybe a dumb question to ask, but I am relatively new. Been playing on and off for several months. I have never seen any flail weapons like this:

Are they in the game?
Personally, this is my favorite weapon and it is almost never in any mmo-games. I just don’t understand. It is such a classical weapon!
If they are not in the game, I strongly urge its implementation. Even if it is not a new weapon type and uses mace skills. I love this weapon and I really wish I could be using it….!!
This is random, but something else I really miss is being able to freeze enemies and shatter them into pieces with a weapon…! Kinda got that in Diablo 2 a little bit. Always wondered if it would ever return in a game.
My girlfriend was just saying she wished Ninja stars were in the game and I’d have to agree!
Hey Everyone,
I don’t have much time, but I have been reading the posts when I can. You are all so wonderful and helpful. I will continue to go over your posts and follow your advice. If I posted something like this on a WoW forum I probably would have been trolled and told to search the forums or something. Thank you guys so much for the responses. I am really glad to see that GW2 is a community full of much more mature, kind, and helpful players! My girlfriend and I are super excited to log in and give the game another shot with a fresh perspective and with some of the tools you guys have given.
We appreciate everything, truly.
Hello All,
I recently purchased this game for my girlfriend and I to play casually. We both decided we do not want to pay anymore monthly bills for our gaming hobby. Now we are extremely casual maybe play once every couple of weeks for a few hours. (We have a 2.5 month old daughter and our attention goes to her, obviously.) So, with that said we both do really enjoy gaming and after researching a bunch of games it seemed like guild wars would be a good fit. It doesn’t cost us money if we need to stop and focus on other things.
Now here is the problem, we are both very used to World of Warcraft and so wind the clock back and you would find us spending lots of time playing that game. This is one of the reasons we liked it because we don’t really have much of a learning curve. We already know and understand the game. We both stepped in GW2 and were so confused on how everything works. There is so much it looks like a giant learning curve and maybe it is or maybe it is not as tough as it looks. There are some basic things we want to do and so maybe someone could guide us in these specific directions or tell us what we want is not even feasible?
We want to be able to collect and find pets, rare items, and cool stuffs. We have seen that there is some sort of crafting system which we tried to figure out and were like ??? seems complicated. How do we go about this? Can we just run around and explore to find really cool items and pets?
We both don’t have the greatest computers for playing the game but it runs well, however we did want to try PvP at some point and I doubt WvW would work. Are there any other types of PvP?
We also look at the professions and races and are like we both have to be the same race…but we necessarily may not want to be. How do we play different races and play together or is that not possible from the beginning? Any recommended classes for newbies? Swords and Magics <3
What exactly can we do for fun while leveling up? Or when we level up all the way? What do we do….so many people say, “whatever you want” but what is that? What can we do exactly, what are some good/fun recommended options? We are sort of a goofy couple so we would probably enjoy some sort of roleplaying or something.
Lastly, I apologize. I understand that all of this information is probably on these forums somewhere or in game. I just kind of want to play and so does she. We both don’t have the time to really sit down and read and try to figure out a whole new game. We are hoping we can just figure out by playing. We both really don’t want to go back to World of Warcraft, but it is familiar so that is where the confusion comes in. We also have a lot of outside responsibilities so spending 3 hours just to learn crafting I think would suck for us both.
How can we transition smoothly? There is so much to read and learn, but is there a guide broken down into little bits we can read? So, one day we try learning one thing and maybe next time we try something else. Everything all at once seems so overwhelming and we both don’t know where to start. I think that also comes with the freedom GW2 offers….but some guided community help I think could set us in the right direction.
Thanks, and again I am sorry. I am just really hoping there is someone out there who understands where I am coming from and has an easy solution for us.
