well mate you are not doing anything wrong – im not a hater i reached lvl 80 but they nerfed the mesmer so bad u wont recognize him if u played in any bwe .
First off : u get stuck under map in terain using skill #2 on Staff
2 : in PVE if u fight a mob and at the middle of the fight u want to get invizible (trait skill) the mob still hits you (also in wvw but i will reach that later)
3: the damage on GS-GreatSword is a joke at low lvl – its very hard to do anything and even frustrating .
4. Staff will be prety usless on big lvl mobs or wvw . 2 slow , 2 weak.
5.i dont understand why u (ANet) created this class when i saw other classes having/leaving clones- dissapearing – beeing ivisible and so on , i dont realy see the point .
6. in WvW u have Decoy and Teleport to help you ..both break stun …well only in theory …i still receve more than enough hits (not from conditions- i watched closely several days this stuff) , so i get in stealth – receve hits …teleport siystem is rudimentary you loose time until u do that and in all this time from the moment u became stealth to the actual moment u teleport u receve hits EVEN THOW YOU ARE INVIZIBLE – i will keep repeating this.
7. From Bwe you -Anet- made the #3 skill on GS a waste of time – in Bwe u had the moob in target u presed #3 skill the character stoped put in mark on the ground and stabbed him fast- it was automatic …. now if i want to use #3 skill i have to stand still and calculate where it will be ….thx for making me not be squishy …..
8. in Pve most times ilusions phantasm are useles ,they dont camuflage me…or make the mob lose interest in me ….the mob still hits me and focus me no mather what…also what did u fed the mobs? in every posible situation even if they are dead ..risen..zomby etc etc they are on Red Bull they run faster than me …hit me like crazy and etc…u cant run from them – kite them , dodge is good…only for 2 times…so…BS.
9. from a logical point of view i am a class that doesent fight face to face nor in front line so as my #8 stated i want my illusions / phantasm take priority on mob , and if i am “clicked” in wvw the player who has me in target to loose me and select me again….its only logical….if i dissapear and ilusion came out the player to have to click for me not hit me while i am stealth – and by that stealth is usless.
10. as #8 and #10 stated i am a class that needs to be squishy i dont have defence – attack is somehow medium even if i am power all the way also u removed some good stuff from what i select when i put the 30 points …..so i dont have defence , i have medium attack..what am i? do i need to change class to enjoy this game?
why did u feel the need to nerf the mesmer but the ranger is ok? if i run on a short bow ranger i take masive dmg …also the frustrating pet of his….plase give him ( the ranger) more advantages ….i know i know i am a hater …but at first with all the heals on guardian – and the sheer nubmer of noobs playing guardian for this reason and this alone its the most played class- i thought guardians would be op …but no ..its the ranger…sure he dies faster than me …but he hits more harder…mor further….and has a pet …that its just annoying…if the pet was like a bag extra slot or smt….would of been fine…but he can bufff….defend…kite…attack….but i guess only the mesmer should be nerfed….
11. let me have more decision’s to make about my character don’t force me to go 1 way or the other – the 2 obvious ways are all attack or all defence in which point both are wrogn…and a hibrid don’t work you just end with no attack and no defence ….raise the damage and the area of effect of spells – want more aoe skills not only on staff …. and nurf the ranger.
I would opt for a different approach , like in SpvP , or pretty much like an overflow sistem with a medium map designed to “warm” up until u reach wvw , with no points to capture , no kills to be attributed , or any other stuff just skirmish until you enter wvw , and like overflow’s u can put many .
The point is …. u have solutions only you Anet dont want to implement them.
The first and logical option is to enlarge the server wvw populations from a general lets say we reach max 670 players / server / region in all 4 maps to 1000-1500 / war region not hole x number for all servers( borderlands+ethernal) – ( cos this system is fked up where u have 670 players from a server on wvw meaning in all borderlands and ethernal – so if a server gets 400 players on ethernal the rest can only get 370 and from thoes 370 divide in 2 for the rest remaning server s-meaning you will have few man on any 3 battleground’s at 1 time or will just be scatterd where they could enter )meaning as you have the map now the ethernal battleground would be the hole 4 regions in 1 ( combine all borderlands + ethernal in 1 big map)- its logical from an historic – attack – defend – make strategy map – where every 1 has a zone – landing zone- border – and tries to take the middle . so you make 1 huge server that will be like all borderlands + 1 middle zone and u can up the number of players -
Also a second more NOW approach would be just to get more servers….but u have a nasty and not at all logical point of view…meaning waiting for the “hype” to go down …well we have players now that are 20 or 40 and they want to enjoy every drop of this game …so if u have problems now with the ones who rushed to 80 what will you do when all or majority reach 80? at 1 point or another wvw will be the only thing to do in this game so admit it and make it wright.
You will think this will not work cos of poor optimisation where u can’t see all the actual players…but with such a huge map a masive zerg will be useless , if what they cap they don’t hold and just move on . this enlragement will push ppl for tactic and sort of domain and raign over an area .
Where every server will try to keep his “kingdom” and try to take the other one’s .
and on the + side u can add many more stuff to maps – mining places – more upgrades – guild castles with the curent upgrades and maybe in a future you will merge 1 huge map maybe 10 times bigger that tyria so every guild with guild castle or guild base can appear on the map . such as an borderland where it cant be taken but it can suffer damages and losses . the iddears to tackle this are endles…if u want to create a legacy of this game think big dont sleep on it make it.

Maybe this system would be nice for all classes not just for thief’s . For me as a mesmer is a pain , i remember in BW’s i could choose a sort of safe path to dissapear for few seconds now i randomly dissapear and appear in same proximity witch is bs .
We have classes that get in stealth longer , get up , explode , bounce ppl around…..well mesmer just turns off and on and mostly in same area….
I am only talking from my point of view … it neads to be ballanced for all.
