Tournament Daily

Once the dust is settled, we’ll finalize the schedule and then it will be on a shifting schedule. Every day, each tournament will start an hour earlier than it did the previous day.

This dodged his question though. Regardless of the shifting schedule, there are still only a limited number of tournaments each day, and they are limited to specific times. If you aren’t available to play at those specific times, then you actually cannot do this daily. And it, to my knowledge, is currently the only daily in the game that is setup this way, where you have to play at certain times to complete it.

World bosses are in certain times as well. If i understand corectly they do this to find the most suitable hors to ahve the tourneys through feedback that will get from players which isnt a terrible aproach.

PvE world bosses run much more frequently than tournaments and have a lot less hoops to jump through to join in. All of the possible world boss dailies run on either 2 or 3 hour timers, making them much easier to catch, and they don’t have additional hoops to jump to participate. You don’t have to be in parties of five or register to hop into a Shadow Behemoth fight, for example.

I’d personally prefer this daily to be replaced by something more attainable for solo players and players who can’t make the tournament times, but as long as three other attainable dailies are provided alongside the tournament one, I can deal with it.

It sounds like the real problem here is the Guild Waypoint Discount recipes, which is what OP is mainly talking about wanting the potions for. And unlike Badges of Tribute (the WvW associated ingredient), you can’t buy them off the TP from other players and either have to farm them yourself or trust random people advertising potions in map chat or LFG.

Change the Guild Waypoint Discount recipes and OP’s problem is solved. It probably should be changed anyway. That guild buff only affects PvE players as waypoints are free in PvP and WvW, so it’s kinda weird it requires PvP and WvW items.

Less demand for potions means less daily hunters coming into PvP.

Everyone is happy.

Sound Updates

I’m definitely in favor of a toggle that allows people to mute or change the sounds client side, similar to hearing PC voice clips. It’s the solution that should leave the most people happy. Perhaps a “use generic weapon sounds” that replaces them with the sound effects normal weapons use? If not, a mute works just as well.

“There is a cap on how many constructions can be placed. Once that cap is reached, any new construction placed will delete the oldest one. The exact cap is not know, but it seems to be around 50-60 constructions.”

From the GW2 wiki’s Toypocalypse page. So when you’re reaching the limit of constructions, consider upgrading your defenses instead of building new ones or waiting for them to get destroyed.

Alright, I overall enjoyed this release, but there are a few complaints I have that really sour it:

1. The lack of WPs, no one likes making their way all the way over to the hot springs area where the event procs, you die, then have to walk back. I understand you want us to use other methods to travel, but the thermal tubes are inconvenient and the leyline is annoying and inaccessible to people who don’t have the expensive, time consuming mastery.

2. Speaking of that event, it’s disproportionately difficult. I have never seen this event succeed. You need an organized group of a lot of people to finish it, and that shouldn’t apply to anything that isn’t a meta world boss. The event also procs distressingly frequently.

3. The Elixir Addiction daily is not worth doing. The main reason players are in the map is winterberry and magic farming. With the Elixir Addiction daily, we spend 5 berries to get 2 berries back and 25 unbound magic in return. It’s a waste of our time that produces negative profit. Even worse, we get suet and eggshells we will never use clogging our inventories. At least let us vendor these items, but better yet just get rid of them if you’re not going to fix the daily.

4. Having to remake the elixir daily is terrible, especially because it lasts until reset and not a fixed amount. It should be a permanent buff for players who completed the story step.

5. The aggro range of Veteran Corrupted Elementals is ridiculously huge for no reason. They’re one of the most annoying enemies to fight too.

6. The Svanir heart vendor is terrible. Making us get 3 disguise pieces with fairly low drop rates just to access him is awful. It also doesn’t even make sense. We talk to him, he aggressively tells us to get out and never speak to him then…he gives us berries and buys our junk items? A kodan standing near the area should be the vendor. After all, it’s the kodan who thank us after completing the heart.

7. I understand the reasoning behind what as done Braham’s behavior, but…it feels extremely forced. We see him get his revenge for Eir in Heart of Thorns. We see him come to terms about her death in the very last instance. So suddenly he’s upset and angry? If Eir is his primary motivation now, why did he not attend her memorial? He was also completely friendly towards us during the entirely of HoT, so why is he suddenly blaming the commander for her death and why is he suddenly doing it NOW? I have, in the past, been reasonably impressed with the writing for the (very few) characters who don’t mindlessly worship the commander and the ground they walk on, like Medic Ceera, but if you wanted to write a character who’s upset at what happened in Heart of Thorns and wants to blame the commander, Braham was a poor choice. I am not upset at the concept of an NPC who hates my character, I am upset at the implementation of it. It would have been better to introduce a new character who holds these types of feelings. Sure, it doesn’t have the same oomph as an already established character, but Braham’s character just took a wild, nonsensical direction.

8. Where is Kasmeer and what is she doing? Of course she shouldn’t be joined to Marjory at the hip but…she also shouldn’t be completely absent. It’s been three episodes and we have no clue about what’s up and she’s been offhandedly mentioned a grand total of two times. You would think she would be just as concerned, if not more, about the White Mantle as Anise and Canach are! After all, Queen Jennah seems to have singled her out as a potential member of her inner circle.

What counts as a veteran?

If you click on the daily itself, it does say "Kill the veteran harpy, warg, or wurm located in the Borderlands in World vs. World. I agree it’s confusing though. I’m not sure if there’s a better way to word it though. “Daily WvW Veteran Event” maybe?

I’ll try to explain the best I can:

On the borderlands maps, there are three spots where a veteran creature will spawn given enough time. There is the Veteran Warg which spawns next to the vista at the lower left of the map, the Veteran Harpy that spawns to the right of the southeast camp, and the Veteran Wurm that spawns just north of the bay keep between the bay and the camp.

These three creatures are special in that they also proc an event: Defeat the Veteran Warg/Harpy/Wurm. Complete the event by killing the creature to get the daily.

Minstrel III: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ode_to_the_High_Wizard

Apparently this doesn’t count for the defend version of the High Wizard. I just participated in the defend event where the High Wizard was killed (and I helped kill him). Tried playing the song right after he died and then again after the event succeeded. No collection progress was made.

I would like to say I also encountered this. Combine this with the fact that people are now unwilling to let the event fail even when asked, and this is impossible for me to complete.

Charr and Asura female precursor armor

While I’d love a few more feminine options for female charr and asura, (like the exemplar attire and the wedding outfit) this really doesn’t work. It looks quite rather ridiculous on them. I’m not that thrilled with giving them the male option either, but it’s better than what we have now.

Are you, by any chance, playing a build that pulls conditions to you? I have seen this happen when a poor condi necro/save yourselves guardian stands a little too close to Explorer Plinx during his event chain. There is one part where he has a 24 hour immob on him (secure the landing site) and it’s possible for players that transfer conditions to themselves to actually transfer that to themselves.

Best DPS besides Elementalist?

I think more importantly you need to look at what your fractal party is made up of and what kind of support you’re giving each other. Is someone providing might? Do you have fury? Is someone doing reflects or projectile blocking? I think first you and your friends should look at what you’re playing and find out ways you can improve your builds to help each other. Is someone a Warrior? They could consider learning how to play a Phalanx Strength build. A Mesmer can provide plenty of handy reflects or alacrity/quickness if they choose to spec Chronomancer. I feel like the help that can be offered is limited until we know what your party is like, otherwise we’re just going to argue about DPS numbers.

Why is everyone so mad about the precursor?

Requiring events to be failed in order to trigger an event that is needed is pretty kitten design. Nothing legendary about it, it’s just lazy. Oddly enough atleast for the new pistol this a non-issue until after you get the precursor.

This is my biggest issue with precursor collections. Requiring events to fail is terrible design. For one, there shouldn’t be rewards for failure and we see enough of this already in events that spawn champs or another event that gives better loot if you fail it. Second, it’s dependent on you waiting for an event to happen, and hoping, praying that someone doesn’t come along and complete it after you’ve been standing there for an hour waiting for the event. Some players will stop if you ask them, but not all will, and honestly I don’t really blame them. Why should they stop playing for my sake? But it’s a huge pain when progress on something you’re doing gets stalled not by anything you do or fail to do, but just because of someone else who isn’t even doing anything wrong.

Now this is what WvW should be.........

Hello!

I’m from SoS and it’s been fun watching the war score. It’s quite a nail biter!

I was excited when FA first came back to T2, and even more so when YB arrived. You guys don’t disappoint! I don’t quite think that many of our population is taking a break, it’s just FA and YB both fight hard. It’s been a while since we’ve had a match where two servers are breathing down our necks.

T2 for best tier.

Breaking the ice (exploit)

My apologies if this has been covered already: Why fail the event anyway? I’ve run this event dozens and dozens of times and we successfully completed it each time (with a minute or so to spare – i.e. last minute). Once it’s finished, you have just enough time to run a few champs on the map and then complete some inventory management, and Breaking the Ice pops right back up ready to go again.

Just to reiterate: I have never seen this event fail. Ever.

Also, and maybe I’m the exception and not the rule by the looks of some of these posts, but I haven’t seen the toxic behavior that is being described either. I also rarely ever saw it during the Queensdale train when it was a thing. I think there is a significant amount of melodrama and exaggeration going on. To the point I really consider it trolling.

This reminds me of my kids in school. Every time one kid does something wrong in class, the entire class gets punished. Kid acting crazy in the hallway? I KNOW! Lets put the whole class on silent lunch and take away their recess. EVERYONE should pay.

How about the people that actually cause the problems get punished for once.

Failing the event causes the event chain to restart much faster than if it succeeds. (Five minutes for failure vs twenty for success)

As for harassment, I have seen it and on a regular basis. In Coil, in the regular Frostgorge, in EotM, and especially in Queensdale whenever some unsuspecting party of newbies killed a champ and got chewed out for it.

Me, I just want the Finish What You Started achievement and the one event I need is the one that happens when you fail the defense event aka the one that never happens because of the farm now.

This event chain is a pretty nice champ farm, I admit, but I wouldn’t mind if it goes kaput mostly because it interferes with other big goals that people have. Things like the regular Frostgorge Train don’t get in the way of people trying to do Living Story or get achievements, for example. The entirety of Cursed Shore is champions as far as the eye can see. We already have plenty of perfectly good champ farms that have been completely untouched, so it’s not like there isn’t other places to go to have a bag party.
