Im an returning player. And are quite satisfyed with many of the changes that have been made. Game feels less annoying to play in pve. and there seem to be some actual tactics to the fights now instead of the “die and run back” that it was back in the days.

So over to the bad stuff..

The game have set out some stuff as for end game for us to chase. this is good.
However. The amount of effort needed seems for me..quite impossible.

Lets start with the Ascended gear. This part i dislike to like.

I havent been able to craft anything yet because i need like 7000billion items to craft one out of 4 pieces needed for a armor piece. This yet its still in reach- but its triggered by daily rewards so either way it will take me ALOT of weeks to complete this.
While crafting u get a cooldown timer that u have to wait for untill u can craft another piece. So saying its 1hour between. and u need 5 of the same. this is like 2 days for the average players because i dont time everything i do and i dont want to go click “craft” every 1 hour to be sure its on the clock. Why isnt this lined up that i can craft everything and then have a 5hour buildtime instead?? Getting mats are quite timeeating enough.

The other thing ive seen is that for me. my thief. dont have much armor id really want. Flame citadel set is still one of the coolest, but im bored of it. So i was looking at the hellfire set. thats pretty cool.

But why? Why make a armor set thats out of reach for basicly EVERYONE. you need 33k AP to get the chestpiece. and the highest AP known now is about 25k. There is atm 700ish players that are at this high AP. And may i ask how many ingame hours do they have? – So basicly. if i play hardcore goldfarmer bot style for over 1 year. MAYBE im getting close to getting it. But as for me being a normal everyday player trying to enjoy the game instead of grinding everything to bits for a year. this set is for me 100% impossible to get. I wont be able to do it no matter what ill try. Ill die of boredom grinding for it way before im at even 10k AP. And i cant buy it for gems either.

So when i run around. i feel like i get TONS and TONS of loot..but after 3 hours and clearing my inventory 100 times. ive still only gotten like 0.1% of the resources needed to craft the one piece i need/want. In any other mmorpg. after 3 hours you’d at least earned some gold and a couple of armorpices u could use in other ways. Here its just 2-3 ectos and a buck or 2.

All other mmo’s ive played. u get rewarded for doing multiple runs in dugeons and whatnot. so 3-4 hours actually rewards u something.. in here ur stuck with some ectos and perhaps enough mats to craft 1 of the 400 pieces needed to make 1 ascended. We dont even to craft visuals or perhaps get cool looking loot for our wardrobe.

Im all for the the lineup with gear being capped at this and that stats for ascended/exotic. But after 4 hours or even 1 week of gameplay i would love to be able to say. “hey at least i got this cool looking skin” that changes my everyday look. Ive been running in the flame citadel skins now ofr like 400hours and there still seems to be over 4000 hours left of gameplay to make that change. Hence for me a reason to quit my goals..

Read me wrong. i love this game in so many ways. but its sad that the stuff i want to do is no point of doing because it wont be able to get to it unless i quit my work. put my kid into a foster home. stop eating and block out my entire outside life so i have time to GRIND the same events over and over and over 7000 billion times to get it.

There is enough content in this game. Dungeons and whatnot. But as 1 dungeon is locked to 1 armor set. theres no point of doing them all if u only want this 1 set. u end up grinding the same stuff over and over till ur bored. and when ur done. the next goal is so far off u puke thinking of reaching it, as it contains grinding something else for multiple weeks. Yes a mmorpg is like this.. grinding. But other games at least let us grind 4-5 different dungeons to get the same piece u want. here ur bound to 1 dungeon.

So why Anet? why dont u put all the content into good use? im sure uve played other mmorpgs and see how PROGRESSION is there. i know u wana be different. but this type of different is for me a no go. i quit then.. and ill most likely to quit now. even though i love the game in so many other ways. its just not rewarding enough.

Call me whiner. but i know alot of ppls leaving the game due to this. i know returning players leaving again because the time restrictions on ascended gear.

Thereon. Its kinda odd that most of the players “defending” the system is heavy armor. warriors or guardians. the rest has to struggle even with different build. No matter what build i have i cannot run solo in cursed shore to farm nodes or whatever. i will get killed in matter of seconds. warriors and guardians are an easy class and it seems like they build the game around those 2 classes. (very very loose said, so dont put to much meaning into it, but at times seems like this)

1: waypoints should be safespot because there simple arent any safespots in this game exept cityes. go to a safe camp.. go afk, come back and ur dead. you cant go afk even without finding urself dead after. kinda silly to travel to the mists just to avoid a repairbill isnt it? – also, when using a waypoint, ive experience some times being under attack by several mobs even before my loadingscreen is fully over.

2: dogs irl? and when was this game about being realistic? – roads are marked for a traveling route. and now you are just as safe “into the woods” – its about getting a slack from being dogpiled trying to do something else than fighting off mobs you dont want. if your only after going from A —> B its ok to meet challange on the way. but not even being able to do so without respeccing for this and that without getting killed 10 times in a row im amused. Such as for the 1 temple i cant remember name of in cursed shore, i am not able to go to alone because its ALWAYS 5+ mobs that aggro, no matter spec i am 100% dependent to have someone else with me to be able to reach the karma vendor.

3: Contested waypoints are allright in many ways.. but not every single one of them at the same time!

4: Guilds can not as a whole run dungeons – its for 5 man only. so if you want to do something with 15 guildmates to have an guildevent night..www is the only thing on the table.

Bots is an huge issue and if they had ingame support or gamemasters they could sort out it much faster, they could start broken events and make sure the game dont stop due to bugs. as for now..bugged event = wait for next patch.

But since scorpion wire no longer works you still need to do something to make that round doable, and isn’t a legit tactic according to whom? Everyone I run TA path 2 recommends it and says it’s the only way to get it done. Even some full support warriors with no power or precision but plenty of all the other stats say, “This is so hard!”

thats what i mean. when they place 3 trashmobs in an location. and they simply are impossible to kill without using reset-die-runback then something is wrong. when they locate 3 mobs in 1 rush the group should by design be able to kill them without exploiting mechanics such as resetting.

- And for you guys saying this might not be the game for me. you might be right offc. but i write this because i do like alot about this game and dont want to give up on it just yet. Also i see alot of ppls quitting, raging and even refuse to do ect dungeons due to this. so something is wrong, an mmorpg that has so much content should be able to reach out to more than just players satisfyed with grinding dont you agree? its an huge game, but options are limited to a pretty narrow group of players to be an mmorpg

slowing down an foe is not in my opinion an fullworthy cc skill. Mobs will when cripled still use their aoe skills and hit you. when you can 100% imobalize a foe by a root or bouble, then im happy. resetting mobs by pulling them back is not a legit tactic. we are supposed to handle what they trow at us and not use “reset, die and runback” as an tactic to win

I’ll try keeping it short for each post.

1: No safe spots, even when you log out under waypoints you get dogpiled when loging back in. only safe spot to log out is in cityes. why arent WP’s a safespot?

2: Marked roads on map SHOULD be a safer traveling route. Its not. Mobs seem to be placed out without any thinking of enviroment. So why even have roads? Compare to other MMO and the roads are “safer” (wow, skyrim, age of conan, Anarchy online) in here they even walk under waypoints and whatnots. and you are sure to get dogpiled wherever.

3: Contested waypoints. No mounts, and often i find EVERY waypoint being contested, forcing you to run from across the other side of map – hence no safe ROADS either! ported down to X level and dogpiled = death or fighting off so many mobs it will take you forever to travelabout.

4: Guilds. The only option guilds have to do stuff fully together is WWW. Rest is only for 5man or even keg brawl split you up at random.

5: Progression. Noneksisting. – im sure you all know what i mean.

6: Grindfest 2k. No you dont have to grind!? Everything is grindbased. Crafting = grinding. Legendary = MASSgrinding. – Dungeon = Massgrind tokens.

7: Dungeons. Mass grind 1 dungeon to get what you want. and never experience the rest of the game because you dont want anything from there. No gain = no fun. offc 1 can run to have the eyecandy but mmorpg is about progressing. and when there is no goal to do stuff. i dont see why to do it either.

8: Difficulty vs Fun. Having mobs, bosses being able to instantkill you, and even put dots on you that you cannot prevent dealing 2k dmg pr tick it only feels like a kick in the holy place. no fun at all. There is no sort of known tactics, just learn to evade the 2 first times and then get killed. – and even then. die-runback-tacs are the only option to succseed.

9: Bugs. Offc all games of this size have bugs. but for pve dungeons is the only option..and every single one have at least 1 path that is not even doable.

10: Economy. GRIND cursed shore for 1-2 hours = 1-2 gold gain depends on luck. Bots you can see being placed out for DAYS and accounts dont even get banned. They sell 50g for about 20E – while in compare GemsForGold = 25ish G for same amount of Euro. – And as seen on the markedplace due to bots – economy is allready broken to bits for those refusing to buy gold from illegal sellers.

11: Weapons and armor. Only skins. no better stats, you can play this game for “years” but as soon you reach lvl80 and get ur first exotic set you are as powerfull you will ever be. hence no more progression. – If you however would want cooler looks most is obtained by grinding same area for days and days. or grind gold to buy parts.

12: Crowd control and DoTs. Mobs seem to have ALOT of CC that they pull off at will. Making you chained down till death before you know it, they dot you for 2 mins dealing ALOT of dmg. And again, Players dont have any worthwhile CC for using in dungeons. 1 Boss. 10 Adds. 0 CC, and 0 dedicated tanks, as they are either immune or simply just too many. And it only lasts for 10secs. – so even if you try to have a “tank, healer and dps” sorted out with gear and traits. the dps’er still cant do anything to avoit getting hit by the 10k dmg output trashmobs have in almost every dungeon.

13: Classes. How come every classes have their class special abill up for whatever, when Thiefs even cant use theirs on bosses. thats not fair at all.

14: No ingame support. If you by accident delete an item or whatever. noone will help you sort the issue out. Ingame support from a GM is much missed.

15: LFG system. no usefull tools to get groups for things. also no global chat that reaches every sone.

16: Repair broken armor. I dont like it, but i can live with it. But however it breaks to fast, could you at least add durability on it in ? so when you die, and have 1 damaged item, you repair 100 everything else. instad of having to repair every single time you die. so say 1 broken armor. another at 70% – repair and both get up to 100% instead of having to repair the other part the next time you die.

About the grind. Yes i know we dont have to grind. But thats the only option. either grind or do nothing in pve. sitting around in LA isnt that fun. but hey! you can grind either gold, materials or tokens to create something thats exactly as good as the armor you allready have! – This game allready have so much content, but no given reason to want to do it!

Syndicus is a guild started up by a small group of friends. We are not a guild who aim to have 600 members where 1 gets forgotten in the many. We aim to become a small yet close comunity where everyone knows one and another.

Syndicus is about doing what we want at that given time and always running in groups with guildmates. We do sPvP, WvWvW and Dungeons on a free roll.

Sundays we will arrange guild events that can vary from keg brawl to www runs where we hope all guildies gather up.

why universal tokens guys?

AlietteFaye, you clearly have a different view on progression and fun than i have. and i seriously hope im not the only one..The way this game is build with dungeons now is that EVERYTHING is actually allready ingame.. but its shattered to become a grindfest (witch i was kinda promised GW2 wasnt supposed to be about by all the hyping anet made) – They have 8 dungeons..We need 1..the rest is just for show and laugh because you dont need anything from there..doesnt make sense for a mmorpg! If they split the tokens like i explained, they would have chained the dungeons and expanded the content for EVERY player – This game is lacking progression, not content! Grind 1 dungeon..Finish up. find some other game..Do 1 or 2 run in the other dungeons just for eyecandy. I dont mind grinding, but what i do mind is grinding the same stuff over and over, when they could have forced me to PROGRESS trough ALL content to get what i want. – I have my full exotic, i dont wana bother to massgrind legendary weapons, because what to do after? i have everything i want and need. i mainly play mmorpg to GAIN stuff.. and tbh, eyecandy factor does help for 2-3 times..after that, i quit because its not exiting anymore. So easy as that, split the tokens. And the GAIN factor would still invite me to grind the dungeons.

As we know, if we get universal tokens well just find the easyest dungeon to run over and over..

BUT i kinda dislike the system as it is now. because now i can run this 1 dungeon over and over and over, to get the stuff i want..and the other dungeons i would never get to explore cause i dont want anything from them…

So why not split the tokens up so dungeon 1 gives tokens for any of the dungeon boots.. dungeon 2 gives tokens for gloves, and so on. would force us to run all dungeons, instead of just grinding the same junk 1000 times. – at least i would love to see the whole full game, but im to lazy to bother when i dont want anything from there.
This would also sort out the DR issues..And now ppls would want to do all the different dungeons, meaning you now can get a group for that 1 spesific dungeon. instead of having full “mesmer” group because that dungeon gives the best look for ur class.

CM explo, path 1

I’ll start off asking what Anet sees a challenge? And what players see as challenge?

I was in CM today first time and the dungeon was fair enough actually for the most part.

But however, Ill start with this second miniboss i think it was, she stealthed, and when she popped out of stealth she instantly stunned me, and followed up with a 8k hit while im stunned, more or less instantly killing me as im ported down to lvl45 having 4.4k hp. – For me its a downright SLAP in the face, This has nothing to do with having skills as a player, or using evades or anything tacticwise. How on earth can i evade a stealthed boss that instantly stuns me when comming back?

Going back in time to the first miniboss, the guy in red suit with rifle. Not too bad but annoying as an slap in the face again. This boss just locked his aim onto you, and spammed his special ability that knocks you down onto the ground…after 3 death runs i thought “hey, there must be a way to avoid this” – So, as im asura i clearly can see where im in, in an evade. So i tryed to time his shots, And even in the middle of an evade, he knocks me to the ground, spams the skill and kills me…so i try again, this time i thought i should try to use Line of sight to avoid this, so i run around the corner hiding behind a wall…..and he shoots me straight trough the wall….killing me….

So by all means….This is not hard…its a slap in the face and has nothing to do with skills or brains..its just pure luckbased fights on when the boss locks you down to kill you…so the players saying the dungeons are fun beats me…fun and challenging is when you can be a good player to avoid getting killed by stuff like this…but like in CM and all the other dungeons ive tryed…you simply cant avoid…dps-die-runback-dps-die-runback is the set of tactics i seem to find so far.

So please anet? are you going to implement any form of tactics into your fights or is this the future of GW2?`cause seriously, this is not enjoyable at all.. i dont mind dieing tons of times because im stupid and dont understand the fight, but when such i experienced in cm today.. there is no tactics..its just pure luckbased about who gets the deathblow – warriors and guardians offc seem to survive more, but for a clothie its as stated..plainright a slap in the face..hence eliminating funfactor from challencing down to horrible and annoying…some feedback about what you plan to do with these fights would be appriciated…so we at least know if its worhtwhile waiting for or just find other games..cause so far, ur idea of a challenge has for me been proven does not suit ME as an player, and these forums and my guildies poves im not alone.

Ive played mmorpgs for 14 years now, and tbh. i was done enjoying grinding years ago. For me the game is about acctually experiencing everything the game has to offer. As for the token system since day 1. you only have to grind the 1 same dungeon over and over to get the set you want, leaving the other dungeons untouched and not needed for you. aka i wont experience the full game with a worthwhile gain.

For me it would be merrier if i was “forced” to do the other dungeons to get my full set.

This can be done in a few ways.

1: Universal tokens for all the gear (but not now ppls will run the easyest one over and over)

So..

2: If you split the armorsets up abit. So you have universal tokens for say. boots and gloves. Another token for chest piece only. and so on. So all boots from ALL sets need the same token.
Making GloveToken drop in Dungeon A. And ChestToken you get from Dungeon B thats harder. And same apply for weapons, So Dungeon C can give Shoulder and Offhand weapons, and so on.

3: All bosses in the selected dungeon have 100% droprate on exotic. however, its from the full loot table of all the sets. So say DungeonA drop chest,offhand and helm. The first 2 bosses may drop the helm,offhand. and last boss drops chestpieces. Meaning when you kill the last boss, and only then you can get the chest ur after. BUT you can also get any of the other chests that you even cant wear. This makes you feel lucky when you actually get the drop you are after, and you can salvage the one you dont want or just sell to npc to feel you gained at least something. AND you might get ALL the sets you can use for showoff even though you didnt farm tokens for it. offc All bosses drop the same token at a reasonable rate.

This way, the old system can be rolled back, and or even stay as it is. id rather have dungeon lockout for an hour or 2 instead of DR, forcing me to travel about doing other dungeons to get my full set. Personally i dont think id enjoy my game when i can get 1 peiece of armor in just 1 full run. Id had my full set in less than a week and left to grind world the next year till expansion pack are released. So i would like to get like the old system of getting only 5 tokens pr chest. and with the +15 first time, +5 second time back into play. If i could run different dungeons to gain my 1 full set and in addition have a chance of getting pieces of the other sets im not hearting for id feel a much better reason to keep running dungeons over and over for a long period of time…..as the system is now, you basicly can stop doing dungeons after a week or 2 if you grind hard enough.

Further notice, I dont want my inventory to get filled with 10 different tokens, so these should be made UI bound as an currency like money. For me, the point with an alt char is to build it and play it like any other char i have. so why would i want my main to be able to farm dungeon gear for an alt? let me use my alt to farm gear for my alt. Id like to show off that im good with “this class” as well with “that class” – and when you can use main to gear up alt, you dont show that at all.

Dogpile chain cc death and runback challange?

Anet, please make repair stone in dungeons free of charge untill dungeons are fixed. So we can at least run them with no economic sufferings untill you’ve balanced the fights. And please add one at each boss. die and runback system of yours is not fun.

I wont write alot about this because i see alot of ppls allready have.

Apparantly Anets idea of challenging is “let mobs hit ALOT of dmg, and let em chain CroudControl you, respawn in 20 sec and hence and repeat” – I got this universeral feel for not only dungeons but also most of the 70+ zones. so it goes like this

5+ mobs dogpile you, each of them seem to use their best dmg skill the very moment they aggro/respawn, they cc you to bits and evade does not work more than 2-3 times so you simply cant evade everything. leaving us with, instantkills, and corpseruns as the challanging part, when it really just feels like a kick in the holy sack instead of being challenging. – A funny example is in the 70-80 zone where undead whip you towards em, i had 4 of those on me doing whip at same time made me bounce between them as a rubberball untill i died of the 4.5k dmg the other 2 veterans did on me meanwhile. so a 10sec immune to cc after been cc’ed would help ALOT in my opinion. At least you stand a chance evading, heal up, run off or whatever.

The eye of Zaitan fight in storymode was kinda spot on what i see as challenging, it was hard, but doable when paying attention to whats going on. In dungeons if feels like a dps race, players dont seem to have any form to root/cc mobs for valid amount of time. so when you spawn 6 veterans on us each capable to deal 8k+ dmg at vill.+chain croud control.it feels like a slap in the face instead of challenging. how about spawning 3 veterans, and 3 normal ones, and give players some pve only skills for long duration root trash mobs? this way we CAN die if not! but we can also handle the fight by using cc! – so far my groups have had like 10sec cc at most with 40sec cooldown? (i have given up on dungeons so i might be mistaken about the cc players actually have)
Even adding a better droprate for dyes on the trashmobs would for me make em feel worthwhile killing. (for some reason, i calm down from raging if i find an dye)

while im at it, even though its not dungeon related, who the frechnox found out it would be a good idea to have contested waypoints? i spent 55 minutes yesterday trying to reach other side of map because ALL 8 waypoints i had on that side of map was contested, and every time i tryed run there got sick of killing off the 100 adds i got on the way, got cc’ed to bits, killed and had to start over. Roads ARE NOT safe travel routes, infact ur not safe ANYWHERE outside cityes in this game. Mobs should not zerg you on a road thats drawn on the map. Should be some waypoints in all sides of the map that can not be contested.
