If you think it’s going to make it ‘easier’ for spies, I’ve got news for you. The spies – and I mean the really competitive ones, already buy multiple accounts, and have done so for years. The only difference here is T1 has apparently learned tactics to counter it that lower tiers haven’t. It goes far beyond tag watching on maps, mind you.
The servers where there’s already a greater level of competition are completely full anyway.
If they limit WvW – the main reason some people play this game – they’re going to go the way of SWTOR when they started limiting the # of PvP matches free accounts could play in a day.
Never heard of ’em, sorry…but their videos look cool.
Are they going to another game? Any ideas?
I think enabling the ability to see who has placed siege, along with a report option specifically for griefing via siege placement might be an idea.
BG now has Commander Kidinkk :0 yeyeye
This guy makes Jarvan look like a shy little choir boy. I can’t wait.
Well JQ better step it up then, shouldn’t they?
Xystus – Last night after just letting it rest for a bit, I was able to open the game as if nothing had happened and I played with no incident for about 3 hours. I’ll get rid of the Wild Tangent crap (don’t play any of them anyhow) and will also run my Malware Bytes daily from now on. Thanks for taking the time to look at the report and keep your fingers crossed for me!
Days without BSoD: 1
abomally – I did try that a while back and GW2 still continued to crakitten least it ruled something out, right? Thanks for the suggestion!
Hey Ashley – I’ve got support working on it now, so I don’t want to duplicate your efforts, and just sent them the DxDiag as well, hopefully it’ll yield something. Thanks for getting back to me
I’ve ran MalwareBytes numerous times today and it’s come up clear, as has SpyBot Search & Destroy and Norton Internet Security.
Attached is game report – I obviously can’t make heads or tails of it

Wolf – someone in another thread made the suggestion to me to go do an NCSoft Game Advisor test. It might be worth a shot if you haven’t done one already.
Ashley – for what it’s worth, I’ve tried to follow your tips below because I’ve been having significant crashes since the most recent patch, and I can’t even run the repair tool; after clicking “Run as Administrator”, the game tries to open and then immediately crashes closed.
Kyllaa – thanks for the suggestion to do a Game Advisor test. I did that and have uploaded that directly to NCSoft support so I’ll see what that yields.
Attached is a txt file with my most recent crashes from today – figured I’d keep it just to today, but if the entire file would be helpful, I’m up to doing that as well.
Not sure if this is helpful or not?

For what it’s worth, I now cannot even open up GW2 without getting a crash message. I’ve tried uninstalling GW2 but it doesn’t show up on the list of programs to uninstall via Control Panel, nor can Microsoft FixIt uninstall it either.
Here’s my crash report -

The BSoD sometimes shows the IRQ_NOT_EQUAL message but almost always displays the following stop: codes – 0×0000001E (0xFFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0XFFFFFAB0079ACBB0, 0X0000000000, 0X000000007EFAB000)
I’ve spent the last day or two cleaning any malware off the system as well as updating drivers through Microsoft’s Device Manager (since when I go to the ATI website it can never seem to complete the download). I’ve also confirmed through diagnostic tools this is not a hard drive issue.
At this point, it’s pointing toward a driver issue as well – but I’m having a hard time figuring out just how to clean everything up – so frustrating.
lol, Oh JQ how we’ve not missed you….
I’d send your videos and screenshots to exploits@arena.net especially when you can’t pinpoint a particular user. Make sure you include opposing server in your shots just as you did there.
This has been happening literally every day since last week’s patch and this is something new to my machine. Every day when I’m playing GW2, I end up crashing to the BSOD and the computer restarts itself automatically. I don’t know much about kernel-power shutdowns – is this a cooling issue that the computer is dealing with? I’ve never had this problem until this week and it ONLY happens during GW2.
I’ve set all my settings to low/lowest, and at first I thought it was only happening in high wvw lag fests, but it happens randomly. I have an ATI Radeon 5450 graphics card so it’s not as if it’s a gaming machine, but I find it weird that this all just started after this last patch on Tuesday.
Any insights for a non-techy?
Thanks!
1) I’ve found that good times to do this are on Thursdays and Friday mornings before reset when people aren’t trying to be as competitive about the game.
2) Don’t be afraid to speak up about needing a particular POI if you’re in a zerg. Typically if you’re running on Thursday or Friday, commanders will be a bit more flexible to taking some stuff if someone says they need it. Just don’t expect them to run the group to suit your whim/have them do this repeatedly- get what you can on your own before you do this.
3) Don’t expect to get it all done in a week. Mine still took a few weeks, and that was months ago when my server would literally own entire maps at a time.
Good luck
I think it’s safe to say 2 of the biggest complaints about WvW are:
“I’m tired of getting facerolled when our outnumbered server faces one that is stacked”
“I’m tired of playing the same kittening servers every week”
Once you fix the first, you fix the second. This really isn’t that difficult to fix either through server merges, and it’s been done with success in other MMOs that have faced the same issue. That, or incentivizing players to move to lower pop servers would help, but I see the exact opposite of that going on right now. When it costs an arm and a leg to move off your server, everyone digs in their heels. I don’t blame them.
I’m not sure why people are saying constructive and feasible suggestions haven’t been provided – I’m not the only one who’s said this. The fact that this could get done relatively easily and it hasn’t been yet tells me it’s not high on ANet’s priority list, nor will it be so long as they’re getting revenue in other ways.
Esplen – it was indeed the Dead End Bar! I think when I hovered over Queensdale I assumed DR counted towards that, but I was mistaken. Thanks for being a lifesaver
I’d give you all cookies if I could, thanks again for the suggestions
Thanks – I went into the JP in gendarran fields and did not see any POI in there to even get, unless it’s not showing up on the map and I’m not going deep enough into the JP. FWIW, my gendarran fields map shows 17/17 POIs received…
I’ve got LA, WF and DP ones.. =/
Thanks so much for the suggestions. So frustrating!
Thanks for clarifying, Cranked. Just throwing it out there in case
I’m 722/723 POIs for map completion. I have already:
-triple-checked each map to make sure I’m 100% on all POIs
-triple-checked that I have 100% on all WvW maps
-gotten the Chantry of Secrets POI
I initially thought it was a missing POI in the Mists that I hadn’t gotten, but that didn’t count. Nor did one that I was missing on Southsun Cove (though I’m unsure why).
Are some POIs bugged? Am I missing anything from the list above? Can someone help me from pulling my hair out?
Thanks
Um, why don’t you just repair while in EB? Leave the jumping puzzle and repair at spawn. Am I missing something here? There should be no need for you to exit and re-enter EB…
I always hear about tier 1.5 for Tarnished Coast but I do wonder how they would do against Jade Quarry. I think Jade Quarry/Tarnished Coast/Dragonbrand or Blackgate/Jade Quarry/Tarnished Coast would be interesting to see.
I’d love a BG/JQ/TC face-off, as a BG player. The last time we played against TC, they unfortunately got badly stomped but honestly, JQ hasn’t seen 1st or second place in T1 in months – TC would have a really great chance to shine here.
Funny how BG is pulling out all their tricks just to keep from losing the top spot. Lets see how long they can keep that up for :-P
and the race continues…
Pulling out their tricks? Um nope, just playing like normal, defeating 40-man zergs with 15-people groups, much like we’ve done for the last….4 months?
But speaking of tricks, I can bring up the dreaded topic of double-teaming going on in EB. Obbbbbvvviioooussssssss who the ‘tricks’ are getting played by guys. You’re laughable.
If I see shady kitten I report it. But I don’t go onto a forum with an accusation that nobody can work with. This is useless. Let us know if you get something worthwhile. >.>
Got a guild name?
It’s not just high pop servers. And it has NEVER been this bad, even on a reset night on a T1/T2 server. This is absolutely ridiculous that this hasn’t been addressed in the last couple of days…knowing they’d have an influx of more people now that wvwvw ratings have reset.
Don’t know which server you’re talking about friend, but on SFR it’s like this since 2 months. And it was a medium pop server, only recently it turned to high due to bandwaggon transfers. During the reset night you had one chance to get on your border. If you failed you could just go to sleep. Queue would be endless, 2 hours minimum. I can only imagine it getting worse on all top tier servers now.
I can’t even imagine it being this bad only on a medium population server. I’m on Blackgate and on a reset night on pretty much any map, I wouldn’t face a queue of this proportion. I’m now on hour 3 and I’m not a happy camper!!!
I can’t believe SF has been experiencing this for months…rage!!
Dear OP. You are playing on a Very High populated server. What do you expect? Servers are always mobilizing all their forces for reset nights. Those are not randoms players like you expect. Those are people who come to play over this first night of the matchup for the good of their server. To make hole following week easier. So if they get on the map, they will not leave it for several hours. That’s why you can’t get in and queue is long. Because noone is leaving. After all, they decided to spend the night in GW2. Just like you did. If you don’t like it you could (and you still can, but not for free anymore) move to a server with lower WvW population.
cheers
It’s not just high pop servers. And it has NEVER been this bad, even on a reset night on a T1/T2 server. This is absolutely ridiculous that this hasn’t been addressed in the last couple of days…knowing they’d have an influx of more people now that wvwvw ratings have reset.
Anet, please get this taken care of in some way, shape or form ASAP. Even in T1 I wasn’t facing 2+ hour queues, even on reset night. This is wildly unacceptable if you want to actually keep your WvWvW players around.
I don’t agree with this decision. So much hard blood and sweat put into our server’s efforts. We were going to T1 next week.
No. You’re facing JQ and SoS next week because you played against 2 lower population/weaker servers (no offense TC and SBI) for 2 weeks and capitalized on the ratings system as it stands today. Blackgate spent the better part of 10+ weeks winning their bracket, but didn’t finally move into T1 until a dwindling SBI server pop made them easy to unseat. It COULD feasibly be argued that both BG and SoR earned their way into T1 based on server transfers alone. Surely you can see the flaw in that system.
Either way, there really are no official tiers as of Friday @ reset which is fine by me.The math behind the ratings system needs a major overhaul. I feel like I’m back in college, dealing with getting a C one semester, only to see my GPA dragged down so low that it took 4 semesters (2 YEARS) of straight A’s to bring it back up. That isn’t very balanced to me.
Interesting decision, A-Net.
Blackgater here with some thoughts/observations:
-Lots of whining. From all 3 servers. Whining about getting spawn camped, about getting emoted at, lack of coverage, secret server pacts, OP breakout events taking your towers…you name it, I’ve been reading about it. Time to put the big girl panties on and quit QQ’ing.
-I’ve gotten more badges and loot this week than I have off our competitors in T2 in the last 3 weeks combined. Is it because you outnumber us 2-to-1 and I have a wider opportunity to kill more of you? Is it because I’m facing people who in a 30 man group cannot manage to take out a group of 12 of us at a supply camp? Hint – it’s both. No really, it is.
-Doubleteaming. I haven’t seen it happen myself, but when I do I’ll be happy to frap it and show whomever wants to see it. But then again what’s that going to do? I’m not here to produce an f-ing expose, I’m here to PLAY A GAME. Accusations without proof are baseless. And furthermore, it’s not as if it’ll change the behavior if it’s true. If you think it will, try again.
-It sucks not to be #1 in our bracket, I’ll be honest. But our commanders and server have been busting their butts to show you what we’ve got, and I think we’ve been doing a pretty good job. SoS and JQ have been doing the same to show us what we DON’T have. Definitely some lessons learned here.
Thanks for an interesting, eye-opening week everyone.
Thank you TC for giving us a great week of PVP – it’s been a pleasure getting to go up against fresh opponents. And thank you SoR for all the time you spend making excuses about why Blackgate comes out ahead each week – it apparently takes away from the time put into actually trying to win.
I just want to say that after reading all 7 pages of this thread, I’m pretty impressed with TC’s folks. You guys are truly classy, even if your tactic of moving between Rogue’s Quarry, WC and Aldons in EB for 3 hours at a time annoys the everliving kitten out of me!! But then again, I guess that’s your intent.
Either way, good to have this week’s bracket mixed up a bit. Helps us BG’ers not to rest on our laurels.
Anyway, I hope everyone here has a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. To those of you NOT whining about…well…anything – thank you. That’s a Christmas gift in and of itself.
I’ve managed to come into EB with my level 5 mesmer and take down 2 people at once. And on occasion, I’ve also managed to get my kitten handed to me on a silver platter while on my lvl 80 Warrior in 1v1. So quite frankly, it all comes down to your skill level of playing your character and knowing how to get out of a sticky situation. I really don’t see anything needing to be changed, nor do I find it unfair or ridiculous. Honestly it sounds like WvW caught you on the wrong day – why don’t you give it another chance?
I got into the event and after 8 minutes was disconnected. I attempted for the next 2 hours to get back in, but all worlds were full and the repeated attempts seemed to lead to more disconnects/system crashes. It wasn’t an internet issue either, as bf was sitting right next to me in the event – albeit with an FPS of 5 and enough lag for an army.
Really disappointing – I wanted to participate but couldn’t even try. From all these other forum posts, I guess I should be thankful that I didn’t waste 3 hours of my life only to be kept from loot at the end!!!
