Yeah, I’m perplexed by the use of pistol offhand with a sword. Seem counter-intuative to being a power based build. Who knows, maybe it’s not power, but he meant “Power” as in DPS focused in general.

3,5silver and supply dring up ultra fast.
Yes it seemed like this was a bad investment at 1 silver 1 month ago (lol)
At 2,50silver now only a few hours after a possible huge huge huge win for putrid essence.
Nuff said
Hey, I’ve just bought 2500 dragon coffer to how many tickets im going to get, got nothing, it got heavily nerfed, I got 3 tickets from 500 coffer before.
Its RNG. You could get 10 or 100 tickets opening 2500 or like you nothing at all. But it has not been nerfed.
Vol,
I completely agree in your assesment. It is not likely they will add a big use for putrid. But I find it very likely that they will do something. And with a rare tier 6 material that little “something” may mean a huge spike in price.
Yes many people incl myself have speculated in this for very long. But what is the loss if you can buy them at vendor price?
The thing I think is changed now is the 400 to 500 crafting. It will no doubt mean a huge turnover of the current crafting system and it may and I say may be that putrid essence may play a role in that senario.
A-net has radically changed unloved ingredients resulting in huge pricespikes even with only 1 new recepie for the material.
The fact that they drop from risen is not rly very diffrent from lodestones. Every lodestone drop from enemy specific mob + things like fractals. Yes sure risen is farmed much much more but the cheapest lodestone is 40silver and putrid is in the same crafting category.
In my first post I stated twice that it is pure speculation. If you want to actively trade your gold in other stuff thats good for you. Some people like the long shots and low risk investements. No one should put all their eggs in one basket, so a little speculation shouldnt hurt.
If it fails, you sell for vendor price and loose a small ammount. If you win you COULD win big. It only requires very very small change for them to spike up massively at least for a period.
GL with your investments.
I think it´s a bad idea invest now in putrid essence, because:
1. You say that new recipes will be added soon, but you don´t know that.
You said it yourself “You dont know that”
And thats the point. Noone knows when/how they will implement new recepies involving putrid essence.
But one thing is sure; they will do sometime in the future, and when they just make the tiniest hint that they will you will be too late.
The investment is very little to no risk because you can buy them close to vendor value.
IF everyone knew what would rise noone could make any money. If you have some nice investment ideas you feel is better, thats nice, if you share them even better.
GL
Who cares if I have a stack of them.
The difference between friendly banter and manipulating the masses is whether or not you have any in your inventory, something which is ridiculously hard to prove (or disprove in this case).
Oh boy, “People who care about the well-being of others.” – Dont you think youre overreacting just a little?
Take ot as you like. But this topic is to make people aware of the situation. There are many putrid essence dropping. So many that a topic on the forum wont manipulate prices. Its like calling people manipulators for pumping/bashing stocks on yahoo stock forum. Lol.
But that discussion ends here. Your critism is making the topic messy and unconstructive and go under the spam category. So please stop mate – You already made your point
Sounds like someone stockpiled and wants to profit.
Everytime a topic like this is up someone like you come in and say thakittens a cliche. Get over it.
I made this topic to discuss the case of putrid essence and make people aware of it. Who cares if I have a stack of them.
Its just a curious case/opportunity with these pile of putrid essence. Cause if A-net repeat what they have done with other unloved crafting materials then you could win big on these.
They are a lvl 400 crafting material, soon we will be able to craft to lvl 500. That means we will need lvl 400 crafting materials to craft to lvl 400. And piles of putrid essence is so chap compared to any other rare crafting material. This could change.
Speculation incomming.
Pile of putrid essence is a tier 6 rare 400 crafting material in the same group as lodestones.
Its the only cheap tier 6 material.
The reason why its cheap is because as of yet there is not alot of recepies that use them.
And yes they drop from risen so plenty out there at the moment, but so can be said about many other tier 6 materials and those are much higher in price.
However that may soon change.
Soon there will be alot of new recepies out when the crafting limit is upped from 400 to 500.
This may open up alot of new uses for especially 400 crafting materials.
As of now putrid essence cost very close to its vendor price (49 copper) So if you buy them at lets say 60 copper, you can never loose much as you can sell to vendor if needed.
That makes it a very “safe” investment.
Its cost almost 50 silver to make 1 pile of putrid essence, so if demand skyrocket for one reason or another you cant just make them.
A-net has several times in the past made more uses of not so much used materials. And pile of putrid essence is the one in most need of all. And I think the time may very soon come.
Pile of putrid essence is the only cheap “lodestone” crafting material and with all the new recepies/ascended gear comming up I think they will be used a lot more and therefor increase in price.
So, what do you think? Do you think they will finally put out more use for this unloved tier 6 rare crafting material? Let me know your opinion.
- This is just speculation. Do not take it as investment advice. Make your own research and come up with your own conclusions. Keep it constructive
Great! Thanks for the quick answer
several topics have been made about this but no answer.
Quip sound bug:
The sound get stuck at 1 tone and only change if you die or after a very long time.
Sometimes (very rare) When the sound effect is random the engineers poison valley and thiefs deluge (both multiple shots in a row) sounds so much better and sound like its intended.
The sound get really boring when its the same sound 5-10 minutes in a row.
Please comment or fix
Any open in EU?
Well they are spiking atm. Up more than 100%
Its doing the same thing as previous RNG boxes as said before.
They spike now the event is almost done. After that they will drop some (but who knows what price they will be at first)
Then they will rise again higher and higher over the longer term.
Deja vu
Dragon coffer spike about 100% this evening.. ATM about 1.8-2s up from about 90copper
Long term? I would go with Dragon Coffers. See the topic about it for reasoning.
The wintersday and halloween boxes was also in massive supply. Not as much as the dragon coffers. But the Dragon coffers also contain better items
They’re 90 copper now haha!
And thats a good thing. The cheaper before event end the better.
You dont believe in them I get it. But please come back and “haha” in a month or two.Look at the charts of previous RNG boxes. The prices are always lowest 3-4 days before the event ends.
You are presuming too much you didn’t think I bought a truckload at that price? People get too edgy when it concerns their virtual pocket.
I hope you dont apply me to being “edgy”, Cause I’m not. I’m confident about what I invest in.
Yes of course I am presuming youre negative towards them after:
""That, and the fact that buy offers for 5k coffers are normally filled within a minute or two. There’s so many of these around, the price is unlikely to rise significantly for a few months, while the demand will diminish as well due to the introduction of new flavor of the month skins. The supply is a millionfold of the SAB skins, as coffers drop from everything, and for characters of any level.""
And the fact you track downward movement with “haha”
Text dont say much, but I think everyone would see the same as me.
I will gladly comment on negative sentiment on the coffers. I take any advice I can get. But right now youre jumping arround and not being clear.
if you have constructive feedback let me know. If not, lets get back on topic wether or not this is a good investement.
I am talking about specific experience available to all on various sites tracking price movement of previous RNG boxes in the game.
When there is only a small chance to get a specific item in the box people like to gamble and buy a few once in awhile. And thats what drive the continued demand.
I’m getting rly tired of repeating myself , but one last time:
If you doubt my view, go and have a look at wintersday/haloween RNG boxes. They dropped alot like dragon coffers but did not even contain wep skins. They only contained a ultra low chance for a “bell” But the price still increased from 5x all the way up to 16x the price during the event.
Now… My view is based on previous trends for VERY similar items. What you guys speculate on is up to you. I’m making my bets and happy about a little gambling
They’re 90 copper now haha!
And thats a good thing. The cheaper before event end the better.
You dont believe in them I get it. But please come back and “haha” in a month or two.
Look at the charts of previous RNG boxes. The prices are always lowest 3-4 days before the event ends.
Scenario 2
I play the trading post each day and my returns are roughly 15-25% returns (and I think that is low as I am still learning the economy). Now lets say that instead of investing in dragon coffers, you flip other items and make a conservative 15% each day. By the end of WEEK ONE you would have more than doubled your money. By the end of the two months, you would have made $438,399,875 or 43,839 gold. This translates to a 6,521% return PER MONTH.
This is exactly like the newcommers to the stocktrading market expecting to be able to make 5% per day by daytrading and start calculating ridiculous numbers.
Like in the real market there is the trading fee’s. If you make 65x your money back every months you will soon own all the gold in the game.
The niche market you can get “15-25% return” per day dont have anywhere near enough flow for you to be able to do it with any meaningful ammounts of gold. Of course there will be temporally things like new event items, but even those cannot return 15-25% per day in any meaningful ammount.
And you say you return 15-25% per day “ONLY” because youre new? wow.. I must be really really behind with the economy. But… Ok… Since you like ridicolous calcalutions lets go. I assume you will soon be able to make 25% per day. (no fee’s incl)
You start with 1 gold.
After 1 month you have 65 gold.
After 2 months you will have 4225
After 3 months you will have 274625
After just 4 months you will have more than 17 million gold !! And its so easy! Cause you only have to make 25% per day af your gold.
My point being, flipping dosent work with any meaningful ammount because of the trading volume in the game. Noone can return 25% per day for any long period on any worthwhile ammount of gold.
Dont get me wrong. I also have things that gives me 25%+ and done it for months. BUT, its only a small income cause of the gold flow in the game and cant compare to the gold you can make buying the right thing at the right time.
And dont forget all the work. If you invest, you just buy, sit back and relax. If you flip youre constantly in the risk of being undercut and your money will get frozen or you will take a loss getting out.
Some of the people I know that made the most gold in the game have bought things , kept them for a month and sold.
And Of course you can get lucky with the TP in the first hour of a new event.
I think The dragon coffers offer very good value with very low risk.
GL to all investors out there

If the Jade Weapon ticket were a guaranteed drop, I’d say you’d make your money for sure, but since it’s only buying someone a small chance … well, like I said before, the moment a new skin is available to gamble on, I think people will move on pretty quickly.
I say the exact opposite.
Its because there is a small chance to get them that the demand will be high. Been that with every RNG box so far in game. Why would that change now with an even better RNG box?
LFk, I agree on your points. But many people dont even have 100g to invest. So the slot space is not really a problem for many.
According to statistic sites the wintersday presents was supplied abou 1/3 to half that of the dragon coffers. But the demand for dragon coffers and the potential future demand is many many times higher than that of wintersday.
Everyone for their own. I am in the opinion coffers may be a good investment. But we will only know the answer in a few months
While the Coffers will go up in value, I don’t anticipate it being a large increase. There is a very large supply, and as soon as the next skin is available (probably 1 month or so) the demand will dry up and only the hardcore collectors will still be looking for the weapon skins.
Considering the volume of coffers needed to make a decent profit and the low profit point, I’d advise not holding on to more than 2-3 stacks.
That sounds good and all. But thats just not how previous similar even worse items have behaved in the past.
Once again, look at wintersday RNG boxes. You could only get the bell from it. However the price of the RNG boxes went up 6-16x what they where trading for during the event.
The SAB weps and jetpack wasnt it an RNG box and thats the huge diffrence. People like to gamble. Like mentioned even the wintersday presents RNG box that contains next to nothing increased ALOT in price. The only thing you could get from it was unbreakable bell (at a ultra low chance) and now, even with the similar usic “horn” and the upcomming flute the price is still high.
With the dragon coffers you have a complete collection of wep skins and many people like the dragon skins. So IMO dragon coffers have even better chances of higher price than wintersday. And wintersday went from 50c to 3-8s
JMO
""I disagree.""
Thats ok, if everyone agreed on investment there would be no such thing as speculation and huge returns.
We all have our ways of gambling. I think based on previous similar items that the coffers will trade significantly higher than 1s in the medium/long term.
CrossedHorse,
That logic I thought of too. But … How can you explain that haloween and wintersday RNG boxes increased so so much over time when they only contain… well… nothing. Wintersday has the ultra low chance of the unbreakable bell. But thats it. In the dragon coffers you have wep skins. And I think that makes them alot better than previous RNG boxes. I dont think that will change just because a new skin is released.
Simple answer: Yes
I believe the dragon coffers will go up in price like the other even RNG “things” like wintersday gifts or haloween bags.
Wintersday fx went from 50copper during the event to now 3-7 silver.
The above are the only ones pre dragon coffers and they both went up big time. After the event they increase, then they drop a good ammount and then they steadily rise over the months.
Its not a day to day trade. But give it a few months and you COULD win big time.
People dont like jade skins?? What? I have heard nothing than good things about them. Yes some of them are bad but people in general really like them. Just look at the topics on the forum. Make no doubt, people will hunger after these skins in the future.
And Its the first time in GW2 history that there are wep skins in the lootable RNG coffers, so these could be much better than the wintersday/halloween boxes.
;This is ust my personal opinion. They could drop to 1c and never come back. Make your own decisions, this is not investment advice or pumping. Anything can happen as seen with many things in this game.
Like every other RNG bag previously (halloween and wintersday) there will not be change to the content.
No need for official respeonse. The anwers are;
- Yes, the tickets will still be available in the coffers.
- Yes the weapon ticket trader will remain in game permanently (officially confirmed)
The dust already settled alot lower and there’s so many things to use it for that I dont expect it to drop “much lower”
Saffron in higher supply? Maybe so, but much more demand because of this food and the huge ammount you need.
Sure… The price will settle.. Its just not going to settle low enough to be worthwhile.
morrolan.. “Best stats in game” … What?
It’s not in anyway “the best stats” Its ok for general purpose but not good for any specialized build.
Take a condition build. Do you think he will benefit the most from starcake?
Or koi cake with 40% longer condition duration + condi dps?
And its not only available via gemstore. Only the recipe. As already discussed you can buy starcakes on the TP cheaper than you could make them yourself if you had the recipe.
So whats your point again?
(edited by Link.6791)
The recipe also need 40 zhaitaffy, crystalline dust and cakes. So this food will never be able to “settle much lower with farmers going for saffron”
Keep in mind… I’m not complaining hugely about it. I wont use the food myself as I do mostly PVP, but I do feel bad for the peps that rly want to use it but cant afford 20-40 silver+ for every 30 minutes.
If they lowered it to fx 20 zhaitaffy and 10 saffron per time instead of 50/50 that would make it more balanced IMO, still expensive… but more realistic price.
The new “revelry starcake food” is OK food for general purpose but 1 problem is already now appearing;
Saffron! – This is one of the ingredients you need, and you need 50 to make just 2 cakes.
It already increased 15-20 times its original value making the starcake very expensive to make.
Saffron is only farmed in Malchors and Cursed, so very little supply is available.
This new food is nice.. However paying 50s++ per 30 minutes on it? Not so much.
I hope we will get better sources of saffron or else this food will stay too high in price to have any value.
It seems very misplaced at 5-6g but like the other limited exotic mini’s it will most likely stay low for quite some time and over the months rise higher and higher.
