Longbow and mainhand axe are both very good PvE weapons. The off hand axe, including whirly axe thingy, is generally considered to not do enough damage to be worth it.
Best (offhand) weapon for damage is the mace. The knocking down everything in a line is fun times (and 1200 range!). Or warhorn for swiftly running across maps, shield to stun/block hard things, or even sword now that the fast-recharging block can block as many range attacks as you want for 2.5 seconds or one melee attack.
Endure pain can be helpful for survivability and now is down to 60s recharge.
Personally I run axe+?/bow, with 10/0/0/30/30 and shouts traited for heal + adrenaline + cooldown, axe adrenaline and extra crits; thus my utilities are always 2-3 shouts.
is it just me, or is the TP collecting the listing fee twice (from ur gold stores and from the sale of the item u sold)..?
Yes and no. You are right that there are two fees. 5% listing fee up front and 10% once the item is sold.
You can get all soldiers except helmet with karma though.
I’m running 10/0/0/30/30.
Strength V: Dual wielding.
Tactics II, VIII, XII. Empower allies, Lung capacity, Vigorous shouts.
Discipline IV, IX, XII. Inspiring shouts, Sharpened axes, Heightened focus.
Adrenal health, Shake it off, FGJ, On my mark.
Shouts give a huge increase in personal sustain, and I like providing some survival support. And it’s nice to have some buttons to press even when knocked down…
I only pug, and sometimes the party healing comes in very useful. 8 adrenaline per shout means I can use burst often and still usually have full adrenaline when heal is off cd.
My gear is Knights on axe and four armor pieces, berserker for everything else. This is based on some advice I read to start with knights and go with berserker once you know all the fights well… which I don’t, yet.
Weapons are axe+mace and longbow; warhorn sometimes. I’ve tried shield but don’t manage to time the block right. I open with bow F1+3 for area might.
This dungeon or a similar one with interesting mechanics would be fun to have permanently; if there is some decent reward that makes people want to run it frequently. It was a pain to get through, but I would enjoy it when I and the general pug population knows how to do it.
I don’t know if loot to everyone would be the solution.. That system was in GW1, but then again, everything in GW1 was instanced, so you’d expect people in radar range to help out with the fight.
It annoys me that the tagging system is used in GW2 dungeons / fractals. Even in a group you have to hit an enemy once to have a chance to get loot from it.
As for open world, OPs suggestion seems bad and would reward unhelpful behaviour too much. But perhaps the amount of damage needed to tag a foe should be lower.
Thank you!
What was wrong was that I was trying to explode the mines when Canach was on top of them using the wrong charge on the mine detector. That proved impsooible for me to time right.Knowing to turn them green and lure him to them was the key.
At first, I thought you were trolling the forum…
Did you TALK to the NPCs at very beginning of the instance? There are two NPCs with GREEN tags over their heads. They provided more-than-enough details on how to use the detectors and mines…
ANet cannot make it more obvious for people to understand the mechanism of this new instance.
I can see where he’s coming from. The npc tells you how to :
- explode the mine – this sounds like it might hurt the boss.
- disarm the mine – my dictionary suggests the mine would not explode after this.
I don’t think it’s terribad as it is, just saying it’s not that obvious.
IUPDATE: He’s not “ignoring” disarmed mines – he only detonates them on contact, while you detonate them by proximity, apparently. Again, that sucks – it means you have to ensure that he runs right on top of the mine, instead of just pulling him within the mine’s circle.
Another thing that annoyed me – the group instance boss has a rush attack, with that he can run straight over green mines and even set them off without losing his shield.
I was able to disarm while standing quite a bit away, since disarm (all three versions) is a ground targeted ability.
