Hey, the reason I didn’t go for PU is it is focused more on offense. Getting 3+ stacks of confusion from clone deaths really can add up, and as I mentioned if they ignore the clones I can self-destruct them by making more and they still take the confusion as well. I had people taking 2k+ confusion damage at certain points but almost every time they swing they are taking 800+ at most times. PU definitely has it’s uses and I know it’s a strong trait but just mixing it up a bit is all. Thanks for the feedback!
Hi everyone, I’ve posted a couple builds before that seemed to go over ok before, and was told one by someone named Twinbladz on youtube that I’ve never heard of before. I was a bit skeptical about it myself but after playing it a couple games, it is just extremely powerful and I was able to take on some 2v1’s and win pretty often there.
The build: 4/5/5/0/0 – Scepter/Torch & Staff
Link to the build: Build Link
Link to gameplay/build video: Video Link
Domination: V and IX
V – Crippling Dissipation – Snare every time a clone is killed
IX – Cleaning Conflagration – 20% cooldown off torch skills/1 condition removed with torch skills
Dueling: II and X
II – Phantasmal Fury – 20% phantasm crit
X – Deceptive Evasion – Clones when you dodge
Chaos: V and X
V – Debilitating Dissipation – Bleed, weakness, or vuln when clones die
X – Chaotic Dampening – Toughness and 20% staff recharge reduction
Now what makes this even better is the minor grandmaster traits. In dueling, it gives confusion whenever a clone dies. In chaos, an extra 10% of your toughness into condition damage. I’m using a carrion amulet as well, for condition damage and power. Rabid seems like it’d be ok and work for more condi damage with the toughness, but the extra power is nice to have in this build as well.
The amount of stealth with this build kind of works perfectly to give you room to cast phantasms, let you line up your casts, or force a torment block. Also with the torch, can stealth up for the burning, switch to staff and phase retreat out and force them to chase you. Which works well as they will almost always have torment on them. If they kill your clones, it won’t be any better as they will get cripple, bleed/weakness/vuln, and confusion all at once. And since you are stealth, they will more than likely have nothing else to do than kill the clones because scepter clones give torment, and staff clones do winds of chaos for all kinds of debuffs.
What’s even more fun, is if they choose NOT to kill your clones, and you have 3 up, if you dodge roll or spawn more your last clone will auto-destruct and that still counts as a clone death. And it’s an area effect, not a target, so you are very viable in a group fight as well. There may be things to change up as you see fit, but overall it is such a solid build. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Titus, that’s why I do love gw2 is you can change things like that. I love lockdown builds myself and yeah I would definitely change things if I was going more towards that. Personally I was going for a mix, of damage and survivable but I do believe your builds would be very viable as well. I can agree with everything you said, halting strike is one of my favorite traits, and Lyssa runes I’ve used plenty myself.
I’m always trying new builds, going for unusual a lot or ones that may be overlooked, so I’m always open for ideas and love learning other builds or things people do differently because hopefully it’ll make me a better player in the end. You did pinpoint one thing I wasn’t sure on with the dom X trait over halting strike, but had figured I know I don’t have a lot of lockdown so shorter cooldown on it would give shorter phantasm/mirror blades for might. But thank you for the suggestions!
That’s what I was going for, thank you for explaining it a bit Eldenbri. It’s more of an escape plan more than anything else. It lets me summon a phantasm and cool down reset a bit, in addition to protection/aegis/regen. Most fights don’t last that long being power spec, but if someone gets the drop it lets me basically do a reset with a more favorable start. Usually some distance, 3-5 seconds of protection, and a phantasm summoned. Sure there may be more specs for pure damage but I felt this was a survivable power build that puts out respectable damage and can live through that thief or warrior burst. I appreciate the feedback though.
Hi everyone, I wanted to share a build that I’ve found for PvP that I’m sure has probably been done in the past but I haven’t seen it on the build list. The main problem with my last build I posted was damage, so this one ups the damage a LOT, while still being survivable.
The build itself is 4/4/6/0/0, using Sword/Sword & Greatsword.

For Domination – I picked III for Empowered Illusions and X for Greatsword Mastery. Simple, phantasms hurt more and greatsword has shorter cooldowns.
For Dueling – I chose: II for Phantasmal Fury, and IV for Blade Training. Using sword/sword, it’s definitely good to have shorter cooldowns on them, and also phantasmal fury is perfect for power builds.
In Chaos, I picked trait V for Debilitating Dissipation, which stacks either bleeding, weakness, or vulnerability on a player when they kill a clone. Really no other choices here. Next, I picked VIII for Bountiful Interruption (might stacks) and XII for PU.
For my utility choices, I went with Decoy, Null Field, and Mantra of Distraction.
Mantra is great because it’s a daze you can use while stunned and any time you interrupt someone, you gain 5 stacks of might + a random boon. I know the biggest weakness of this build is the lack of condi removal, so Null field helps that, along with being able to generate chaos armor using the sword/sword pairing. Decoy, is decoy.
I went with Ether Feast for this build, short cooldown and large heal works very well with PU. For Sigils, I went with Battle on both weapons, using generosity on the swords and air on the greatsword. I figure I start with greatsword so hope for a proc or two before switching and having conditions, then passing one along. I’m using a berserker amulet.
Now for damage, it’s a fairly strong build. The swordsman can crit for about 5-6k, berserker quite a lot as well. And it’s not just them that has all the damage, blurred frenzy hits for over 3k with might on, the sword 4 hits for 3500 on a crit as well.

Thanks!
Thanks, and no torch crossed my mind as well but figured pistol still is survivable with the stun, and the duelist…well million times better than the mage sadly. And yeah mimic and rune of the guardian were made to go together too, can stack tons of retaliation + burning with it and leave them wondering why they can’t hurt you for ages. Thanks for the imput!
Yeah I definitely understand that, I still think it has some uses, and just an option with PU I don’t think I’ve seen before. I like trying out all kinds of builds, but yeah I understand it has it’s limitations as to what it can really do though. Thanks for the feedback. And as for a mimic build, I have tried that as well.

Thank you.
Hi everyone, I wanted to share a build that I’ve found for PvP that I haven’t really seen that is probably one of the more survival-based than I’ve seen before. PU is pretty survivable on it’s own, however this one gives even more options on living and taking advantage of PU and Blurred Inscriptions as well.
The build itself is 2/6/6/0/0, using Sword/Pistol & Staff.

For Domination – I picked VI for Signet Mastery, to reduce the cooldown time on signets by 20%. I have 3 signets used in this build, so it really adds up.
For Dueling – I chose: V for Desperate Decoy. There are other options, phantasmal fury probably being the best other option with the phantasmal duelist in particular. However since I am going for survivability, I sacrificed that for the addition stealth, which gives Aegis/regen/protection.
Next, I chose VIII for Blurred Inscriptions, which gives 1 second of evade every time you use a signet. It’s great if you heal with the signet heal, than get an extra 1 second of invulnerability as well.
Last, I chose X for Deceptive Evasion, which creates a clone every time you dodge. This works great with trait V in Chaos (which is picked) in addition to the 5 point trait which stacks confusion on clone death as well.
Now in Chaos, as I said, I picked trait V for Debilitating Dissipation, which stacks either bleeding, weakness, or vulnerability on a player when they kill a clone.
Next, X for Chaotic Dampening, which reduces staff recharge time and a little extra toughness when using a staff, and finally, XII for Prismatic Understanding.
For my utility choices, I went with Decoy, Signet of Domination, and Signet of Midnight. Now I doubt most of you even know what Signet of Midnight really is, or have ever used it, but with this build it can be one of the best traits around. It has a 24 second recharge with mastery, is a stunbreak, a long AE blind, and gives you 1 second of invulnerability as well.
This is fantastic when a thief stuns you out of stealth, and you can pop this and become invulnerable and break the stun as well. Its short cooldown means it’s up quite a bit, and the blind can be underrated as well as it is instant cast. With this build, you will more than likely have perma regeneration, protection a lot of the time along with Aegis. I chose Mass Invis as my elite, for obviously the stealth, in addition I chose Rune of Lyssa for the condi removal into boons.
The signet heal makes perfect sense for this build, so on top of the regeneration, you are normally getting 1k health back every 3 seconds. It only has a 28 second cooldown if cast as well, so even that comes back up fairly quickly. For Sigils, I went with Energy and Doom on both weapons, and using a rabid amulet.
Now for damage, obviously it’s not going to be the absolute best, however it does hold its own and can whittle people down. The duelist will usually stack 4-5 bleeds on every time he shoots, and there will be plenty of conditions on the target for the warlock to hit for a decent amount as well, along with a high amount of crit. For surviving, Phase Retreat, chaos storm and armor, pistol stun, and blurred frenzy can make you very hard to catch.
