Chill out guys and wait with bashing company that gives you entertainment for 2 years straight without subscription fee for expansion release. When HoT comes live we’ll see how f2p accounts will be feeling, and how in fact everything will work.
I’m a ranger… I’m waiting for the justification of “entertainment” I mean, sadism for 2 years of being a ranger
By “saism” you mean “My class is unplayable because ele zerk team is clearing dung in 6 minutes, and rangers in 4”? Ranger is really specific class, because of synergy with your pet, you can’t just flat give rangers one button obliterate skill because any class that has that skills (Houndred blades, meteor shower etc.) doesn’t have a pet, which if not bugged CAN deal damage, and can rez you when you’re downed.
Real problem with rangers was/is not class itself but content it is faced against. If you make a game with any form on invulnerability, player’s will exploit it to it’s boundaries. You can make anything from tanks to healers, give man a dodge and he will learn to mitigate all damage and go full DPS on the enemy. Dark Souls is fine example.
In such world, ranger’s are imparied because pet can’t mitigate damage and deal great DPS. Stupid AI makes him stant in enemy’s AoE and cluster of mobs till it’s dead. Now everything is fairly balanced, but it wasn’t that bad as ppl say. It just wasn’t meta.

I think guys you’re overreacting with “Scumbag Anet gives OP stuff behind large paywall omg”. Compare them to Nexon or GameForge, these companies are hungry for your cash. Anet for me is pretty fair in their paying policy. Assuming that you are not kind of person that thinks they should get everything free because they have to be praised because of just playing the game. This is a company, they need your cash to keep you entertained.
Specializations are seeming OP because they’re elite, that means by default they’re higher than core specializations. Complaining that they’re stronger than regular specs is like complaing that warrior’s greatsword 2 deals big damage. Keep in mind we will get other elite specjalizations, and each one would be as OP as current elite specs. It’s just a way for anet to delevop existing classes furthet and further with each patch.
And a word OP is something very subjective. Just go to Revenant and Scrapper threads and you will find ppl that desperatly want to buff Revenant damage (“is to low, omg, warrior does better with gs, what’s the point”), or to give scrapper more damage and stuns, accompanied with even more mights. Ppl in this game are so obsessed with DPSing mobs down in seconds and they can’t see that such behavior is toxic for gameplay and makes content boring (with exception of high level fractals, without full DPS party you wont take down any boss with such big HP pool)

Playing scrapper feels a lot like: http://9gag.com/gag/axGPYyD
As in title, I can’t see any cinematic since last chapter of living story was released. I’m using GemFx, if it matters. What might cause that?
EDIT: For anyone that gets here by google or other means, it was GEMfx, on reshade it works wonders without problems

Few updates ago, we had traits that converted 15% healing power to power, and 10% toughness to power. On full cleric’s you had over 2000 power + all that awesome healing and toughness. With bombs healing you constantly you could just stand with the boss almost alone and still do damage. Great for map roaming, silverwastes and dungeon stacking. It was fun, especially when healing turret healed your mates with half of their health
Cheers Engineers!
Short and compact question, is there any reason to play cleric’s gear any more? I used to play this with healing bombs, and it was great! I am fully aware that you can now make blast finisher healing build, but id doesn’t really utilize bombkit and doesn’t feel as good as original elixir infused bombs build.
I am preparing to switch on full knight’s gear, and/or mixed with rabid to play Flamethrower Scrapper. I want to make place in my inventory, and full cleric’s set take hella lot of place. Any suggestions?
At first I was overwhelmed with scrapper, mainly because I play FT since release (pre start even) and was really hoping for forge. Idea of engineer in some kind of fire fuelled power armour speaks to mi like no other, and then I saw electric themed Scrapper and couldn’t find anything to do with my current hybrid condi/power/vit/toughness/prec/ferocity build. But as time goes by, I’m starting to like it a lot!
First things first, forget tools and fire arms on this spec, it synergies extremely well with elixirs and inventions. You can make either Doctor Jeckyl with stacking might and chugging elixirs with condi cleanse, or mad inventor with turrets giving boons, and damage reduction for each boon, hammer works wonders with thumper turret!
Flamethrower also is good with scrapper traits, but gyros outside of purge and whirling one aren’t really synergizing with condi damage.
Last gyro trait needs a rework. I think to maximize synergy with condi engies it would be great it last trait would give confusion to all lightning fields. It would make great use of offhand hammer for flamethrowers, Elixir gun and nades. Also, you could make some kind of other condition application. For example you can make effect which would go like:
Gyro pours fuel upon death on nearby enemies, and makes them voulnerable to burning by 33%
It can also be simple burning, but you get the idea. We need some condi synergy on scrapper, and this trait would be best to put it there.
But, nothing is ideal. Function Gyro is horrible as a class mechanic. It doesn’t work on NPCs, and bugs all the time. I think it works only with training NPCs in HotM. It’s clunky, feels unrewarding, and would do better as an utility skill than ground breaking spec mechanic. Gyros need AI revamp and speed boost, and need their effect magnified. I personally like healing one, because of it’s instant activation and synergy with 3 leaps on hammer, but after initial use it becomes pretty much useless. As people before me said, bulwark should stick to you all the time, explosive gyro should be faster, whirling one do double whirling finisher. Outside of that it’s pretty rad. I’m glad that I didn’t craft full ascended valkyrie armor, because i’m gonna stick to either full knight’s, or knight’s mixed with rabid for extra burns on FT
I’m posting this build, just to check if doing ascended armor with stats I have is worthy. Honestly this build fit’s anything, from pve to pvp.
This build focuses on versatility, it’s not build you’ll destroy dungs all by yourself, but i find it very fun to use. The thing is, that I may use many kits and trait combinations, and almost every combination of engineer skills benefit from stats in this build. I think Engineer is the only class in game that is capable of using this stat combination, because he is the only class that will deal many conditions AND damage at the same time.
Stats combination is Valkyrie + Rabid, so we get something like damage focused celestial with no healing power. Because of that, you can equip nades, bombs, pistols, FT and Elixir Gun, and they all will work! Ofcourse, you have to change traits to put them to their full potential, but you don’t have to swap gear.
At first, you may think that’s it’s useless because it uses many condition damage, which is by far most hated way of dealing damage in PvE because of bad stacking system. Yup, i know (still love condi build btw.) you won’t deal damage from conditions if you have bleed stacking thief in party, but seriously, this brief moments when enemy has full stack of bleed are rare. Most of the time, enemies will have 20 stacks of bleed, and that’s where you can aim. With this build you can deal from 5 to 7 stacks of bleed which will deal around 1000-2000 damage (I wanted to say 4500 but I’m not sure if this is correct number). Aside from that bleed, you deal 500 to 1000 damage on crit from normal pistol attack, 4-5k damage from Prybar + confusion etc. If you summarise damage from conditions and normal damage you’ll get around same numbers as with full soldier gear, or knights on any other class.
Why, you may ask, why splitting damage between power and condi? Answer is plain simple, because skill rotation works wonders with this. Normally, if you are a condi build, you’ll swap to kits that give you specific conditions. For example, if you want to deal confusion and you are condi oriented build, you’ll need to use one skill form bomb kit, one from Tool kit, and one from pistol. Ok, it’s a good and fairly easy thing to do, but here you don’t have to pick one skill from tool, you just use all of them and all are good. Not best, I get that, but they still inflict lacerations to enemy.
Aside from that, build I posted is only one combination of traits I use. I try to change my build for dungs, PvE, specific bosses etc. This combination is by far best AoE damage build I’ve played with. Damage from pistols is rising with each enemy in group, and when you’re fighting with 5 or more enemies they all get conditions and damage. 1 skill on pistols is particularly awesome, because explosions from hitting one enemy, will hit all five if they are close, and explosion occurs each time bullet traverse their hitbox so damage grows significantly.
So, what’s your opinion? Do you find any way to increase capabilities of my build?
P.S. Please, please, please, please don’t tell me anything about superiority of Berserker’s stats and power builds in general. I’ve hear too much of that crap. So much, that I’ve made sole decision of not using Berserker’s on any of my characters.
I think they may not implement this because of similarity to TERA Rising. This system is used there, and I think they don’t want to make GW2 similar to any existing game.
There’s special modification, which I don’t want to link here (it’s 50/50 ok with terms of use in GW2) which allow such movement. Just search mods for GW2 and you will find it, there’s even official e-mail from A-net about what they think about such modifications.
You now, I actually like idea of gearing-up for underwater combat. Now it’s only waste of time, but maybe in future they develop new pieces of equipment which combined will be more useful.
Now it will be left anyway, until they enhance underwater combat. So bothering about this now is pointless. But still, more skins would also be nice. Right now we have only two, basic and consortium
It would be better if there was added new re-breathers resembling exotic sets, and with their stats.
I have an idea. I just love playing engineer, versatility and all this steampunkish skills makes playing this class so great I have problems with levelling alts
My favourite weapons are 2 pistols, it’s like you are playing high-tech (in terms of GW2 lore) gunslinger. But I feel that offhand gun it’s really rarely used. It would be awesome if for example 2 skill from mainhand pistol looked similiar to “Load out” from thief, but much more slower and accurate (something like fast aiming from 1 pistol, and then 2, and again 1 pistol, or maybe shooting from both hips like in old westerns). I think it would make playing Gunslinger Engineer much faster and dynamic.
I understand that such change is obtainable only by creating new set of skills for Gunslinger Engineer resembling new animation which can make new bugs (like trait not relating to this skills) but it’s still possible.
Offhanding weapon in every class is reasonable and frequency of using these offhands is perfectly made. Focuses, shields, torches and all that stuff, only dual pistol engineer feels lacking of using this second pistol
And let’s make it clear, I like this slow accurate movement of engineer and I don’t want to make from him another thief, just add a little bit dynamic. What you guys think about that?
P.S. I hope someone from devs actually see that :P
