For anyone who:
- Tries to open the trading post, remotely or on site of the NPC, and doesn’t see anything on any tabs of it (sell/buy/pick up etc etc);
- Can only buy gems and other stuff but can’t sell;
- Can only see what are the top items tab;
- Can’t see any items on the “Sell Stuff” tab that exist on his/hers inventory and can’t sell anything;
- Other random issues that are related to the Trading Post but not mentioned above;Then try this, I did it 2 days ago and it worked:
1 – Go to the options menu, go to the 1st tab if I recall correctly, and change the language of the text. English to Spanish, Spanish to French, German to English…it doesn’t matter;
2 – Go to the options menu, go to last tab if I recall correctly, check what is the key attributed to the action “Toggle Language”. It should be near the end of the list and by default I think it’s the Right Ctrl Key;
3 – Close the option menu;
4 – Open the Trading Post;
5 – Choose one of the existing tabs and then press the key to “Toggle Language”. Try to hit the key, choose another tab on the Trading Post, hit the key again and see if it works at any time and you have your old Trading Post menu working. You should see the names of the items, menus and even quests change. Don’t worry;
6 – If your issue was something like mine, it should be working now. You only need to revert the options on the menu and no more need to press “Toggle Language”;
7 – If you close the client and relog, you might get the same little issue. I know it’s not perfect but until the tech team figures out what is wrong, it’s the best one can do about it;
8 – If it doesn’t solve your specific issue, don’t give up.

THANK YOU! This did not totally fix the issue (I can’t get the language toggle key to work to change my TP language back to English after reloading) but I can at least use the icons to sell items from my inventory. I can’t search, because I don’t speak the other languages, but HOORAY! At least for now, I can finally make some good money.

last week was working perfect, today, blank tabs again… i didnt touch anything soooooo… whats going on Arena?
Yeah, that’s REALLY what I want to know.
The trading post has randomly chosen to work for me 4 times total in the last month. None of the fixes here work, I submitted a ticket waaaaay back at the beginning of headstart and never heard anything. Still can’t buy due to grey button, still can’t sell because the page stays blank. The gem store always seems to load, but after waiting almost 72 hours to receive the last batch of gems I bought I’m not going to be making any purchases there for a while.
I could understand it for the first week or so, this being a new game with some issues and all… but now it’s just ridiculous. It is directly affecting my ability to play the game! I’m not able to make the profits I could from selling mats and items because I have no choice but to sell to vendors, I can’t buy mats to advance my own crafting (thus affecting my ability to level my character), I can’t buy new armor or weapons, or mods for any armor or weapons I get as drops. Most other people don’t seem to have this issue, and it’s unfair and frustrating.
If the TP works (on average) for me about 1 hour out of every week, but none of my computer settings have changed at all since the beginning (no firewall, no windows 7, deleting .dat file does nothing), how can it be a user issue? It doesn’t make any sense to me.
I love this game. I paid good money for this game because I loved the beta (where the TP worked) but patience is wearing very thin for the support in this issue. I want to be able to play the game the way it was intended, and I want to experience the game the way that other players are. It doesn’t seem like that’s too much to ask.
Could someone please give us some kind of straight answer about these issues? Or at least respond to everyone who’s been patiently waiting for these issues to be worked out? No one has acknowledged this issue on ANets side since the 9th. It seems like terrible customer service to ignore your customers for 9 days straight!
Yeah, still can’t use the trading post properly.
It’s worked randomly for me three times now, since the beginning of headstart.
Can’t sell anything because the screen just stays blank, can’t buy anything due to the button always being greyed out, can’t make custom orders, no hover preview when I search for items, blah blah.
Since none of the fixes I’ve seen here do any good and I’m not using a firewall or virus protection at the moment, hope to see some sort of patch for this soon.
Is anyone else noticing the overwhelming amount of “WTS” and “need dungeon team member” posts flooding chat? I understand the WTS posts, even though I don’t make them myself since the trading post still doesn’t work for a lot of us. There’s a ton of guild advertising going on, too. Why can’t we have specific channels for these things, like in GW1? I have a hard time following an actual conversation with all this junk popping up constantly, or answering questions for other players when they need assistance.
Failing that, can we just have an option to turn the world chat off completely, please?
I suggest looking at names in one of the online baby-naming databases, like babynames.com. Seems silly, I know… but it helped me with some of my characters, because I’m bad at naming too! Just pick a letter, and find something you like.

i can’t find 8 small totems in a day, but i can surely find 36 butters.
I agree. I want to play with lower levels but paying 6S for a one way trip is high. I can see if it was 2S one way, considering i’m nearly traveling across the map, but 6S is steep.
What I would prefer is a 2S cap at lvl 80. This still takes money out, but you can more freely move to another location more often to help others. Afterall, isn’t the main point of this game is to come together and make friends? Helping friends matter too.
Hooray! I’m glad I’m not the only one who has noticed the fact that a lot of my profits are going to WP travel. (And I agree, 2s makes sense at lvl 80.) We often spend more traveling than we earn as a reward from an event – and most items I make/find to sell don’t go for a whole lot at this point in the game.
I’m only lvl 35, but today I noticed on the map that to go from one WP to the next one over (literally, less than a 2 minute walk) the charge was going to be 29c. 29c isn’t a heck of a lot, but it ads up really fast. I don’t want to spend all my time in game farming gold so I can afford to travel around to make more gold!
Also, most of my traveling is done to access banks/crafting stations. I usually pay close to a silver now to make it back to a location where I’m able to access my crafting – and the items I craft barely cover the fee to map travel once I’ve made them! I hope this is something that gets adjusted sooner or later.
I’ve noticed the same thing, sadly. Even though I go out and farm a lot of my mats, I still have to buy runes/thread and those are horribly expensive. (I’m only lvl 125, I can’t imagine how much pricier it will get!) So far, I haven’t found a way around this. I wish that some of the items we needed (like blood, scales, fangs, etc.) would sometimes drop more than one item at a time. It seems like its a lot easier to get things for some other crafting professions – when you find wood, you get at least 3 logs from a tree, you get three or more chunks of ore from a vein, and now that cooking items are dropping, I’ve gotten almost 30 butters out of a couple of hours worth of game play. It seems a little unbalanced, we should have a chance of getting more than one ingredient per kill… it would drop the price down on the trading post a bit, I’m sure.

We’re still working on a fix for those who can see the trading post, but can’t click buy or can’t sell. Hopefully we have something for you guys soon. Deleting the local.dat file – while the game is closed – is our current best self-help solution.
For those that can’t see the trading post at all, the root cert update is our current best self-help solution. When that doesn’t work, there’s a strong chance that there’s a firewall, antivirus, or proxy problem blocking you from using the trading post.
Well, I have tried both of those fixes, to no avail. Is there a way to check the proxy issue? I have no firewall or antivirus running on this computer. If the issue is something on my end, how is it that the trading post has worked twice now for me, randomly, before I made any of these attempts to “fix” the problem? I am very confused by this, since it worked once about two weeks ago and then for about an hour on Thursday morning, prior to me making any changes to my computer.
I just bought several items off the gem store and have not received them. Several keys set of kryta armor and dye. I can not receive any mail from other players. I have reported this and its been 5 days. When is this getting fixed????
Have you tried deleting mail out of your mailbox? You can only have 10 messages at a time, so be sure you have room or you won’t get your gem store purchases or mail from other players. (This happened to me on one of the beta weekends.)
It has now been almost 48 hours, and I still do not have the 800 gems I purchased with my credit card, nor do I have the 51 gems that I traded 13 silver for in the currency exchange at the same time.
My credit card has been charged. I have submitted help tickets in game. Could someone please look in to this? I know that you’re busy trying to help people who didn’t pay attention to the warnings about passwords and email verification who got their accounts hacked, and also tweaking things with the crafting system to keep people from exploiting certain aspects of it, but…. some of us are just trying to play the game the proper way. I’ve paid my money for an item that was supposed to be available immediately, and this doesn’t inspire me to make any future purchases with this system. Thanks.
I purchased 800 gems yesterday afternoon – around 4 pm Pacific time. It’s now almost 1 pm Pacific time, and I still don’t have my gems. I also traded some silver for gems to see if that would show up, but it doesn’t. The window at the top of the gem store which displays the amount of gems I have is totally blank, not even a zero.
My boyfriend purchased gems with a card linked to the same bank account and received his gems immediately upon purchase. (This was yesterday). I’ve checked my bank account and his purchase is pending, as well as my own. I hope that I’ll be receiving mine soon.
It has been a few days since my last post, and there have been patches/updates since then, however, my trading post still does not work. (I have used it once successfully since the headstart launch, but that’s it.)
I’ll paraphrase my last post:
I can’t buy items, because the “buy” button is ALWAYS greyed out.
I can’t sell items, because the screen ALWAYS stays blank. I will get the circle of loading, and the banner and search bar at the top pop up (as well as the footer) but none of my items will show up. Trying to sell from my inventory doesn’t work, either.
I can’t preview or view an item synopsis when I mouse over the icon on the trading house search page.
When trying to purchase items, I’ve also noticed that typing numbers in the box to indicate the number of items I want to purchase doesn’t work very well, either.
3 out of the 4 people who play in my house are having these issues as well, and I’d like to know if there’s any fix in sight? This is having a huge negative impact on my gameplay at this point. My bank is full, I can’t sell items I’ve crafted unless I want the vendor to pay me less than they’re worth, I can’t buy mats to increase my level in crafting, and I can’t buy new armor and weapons with the small amount of money that I have been able to make in the last 2 weeks.
Also, I have Windows XP and I’ve tried removing the local.dat file several times, to no avail.
Despite reading today that the trading post/auction house was fixed, I am still having issues. (The trading post has only worked once for me in the last 2 weeks, these issues have been on going.)
Can’t sell items: I can’t sell items either directly from my inventory or by going to the actual page and clicking the “sell my items” tab. When I don’t get an “under construction” sign, the screen just stays blank and hangs.
Can’t buy items: While sometimes I can search for items, I am never able to buy them – the “buy” button is ALWAYS greyed out. I’ve tried fiddling around with amounts, checking different boxes to buy from different sellers, and I’ve tried to place orders. Placing orders doesn’t work, either. I also cannot preview items when I search for them when hovering. (Re Animate Her, Sanctum of Rall.)
