Blinding should actually make you 'blind'

It’s an automatic miss. Time it right and that’s a LOT of damage that the enemy won’t get to do to you.

As a condition-Necromancer, my elite can blind all surrounding enemies once a second for 20 seconds. Imagine not being able to see at all for 20 seconds.

Yeah, bit overpowered.

Some Classes Need More Weapons

Engineers and Elementalists have their own mechanic, which is why they get on quick weapon-swap. An Elementalist can wield a weapon and instead of 5 attacks, he gets 4×5 attacks with it (fire, water, earth, air), which is TWICE as much as everyone else ON THE GO.

Engineers been a while since I played em, but they get the backpack/turret mechanic going. I think backpacks can completely replace the weapon skills if I remember right, so they have already their second skill-loadout available without a weapon swap.

I do agree however that some melee weapon for the Engineer might be interesting. Maces might be ok. Maybe with a wrench skin or something.

For the rest:

Thief&Maces: Not very typical and not very subtle or elegant. I don’t like it.

Ranger&Rifle: They’re supposed more the nature-type with their pets. Rifle kind of distinguishes them from Engineers, weapon-wise. Which in return can’t use bows.

Halberd for Guardian: I’d rather see two-handed axes for warriors implemented. :p

Engineer: Unfortunately, Engineers are currently the only class without a short range base weapon; even Elementalists have daggers when they want to be short range. A single main hand melee weapon, like a mace, would fix that.

Thief: Ever hear of a sap? It’s a bludgeoning weapon (read: mace) used to knock people unconscious.

Ranger: Warriors have long bows and thieves have short bows, so uniqueness is right out. Both of the bows for Ranger have a “quick fire” button; a rifle could be slow, powerful, precise shots.

Guardian: I agree with this one, but I don’t see why Warrior needs to have a weapon 100% unique to it. Give guardians great-axes, too.

On/Off switch for level scaling.

Really you make my point for me because firstly they don’t scale the drops. a level 10 drops level 10 armor, etc. Secondly they don’t scale XP, or not nearly enough. When I want XP its more prudent to go to an area that you are 3-5 levels under. Its a waste of time leveling by killing lower levels

…Then go to a higher level area and level there? The real reason you’re making this suggestion is because you don’t want to take the time to kill things to get to gathering nodes. It has nothing to do with leveling, so don’t try and rebrand it to that.

The OP mentioned WoW-style Arena PvP. Since WoW arenas had gear progression, it is natural to assume that that’s also part of the suggestion. The OP wasn’t really all that detailed to begin with, don’t fault me for that. “WoW-style” = TDM + gear progression. If it’s not about gear progression, then it’s not about “WoW-style arenas” but only about a TDM game mode.

Also, if this wasn’t really about the “WoW-style” part and only about the TDM part, why not state that right form the beginning?

WoW-Style Arena: Two equally skilled (and geared, but since EVERYONE is equally geared it’s a non-issue) small group teams, each with their own comps. Respawn is disabled, but resurrection is not: if you can avoid being interrupted for that long, good on you. Several maps, each with their own obstacles that can be used strategically. Last team with members standing wins the game.

That, my friend, is what he was suggesting.

Real Raiding?

You can have raid-levels of coordination requirements in 5 man content. While I fear for the longevity of the PvE side of this game, I don’t think instanced large group content is the answer.

I don’t really fear for the longevity of the game, as long as they can add new 5-mans over time.

What I would really like to see are world bosses with more complex mechanics (at higher levels) which require traditional raid-type coordination for groups or guilds to tackle. Maybe there are in fact these types at level cap, though I haven’t heard of them yet. It doesn’t matter to me that there are no instanced raids which require 20 people to complete, but it would be great to have content which was appropriate for big guild runs, etc. with appropriate loot or rewards (even just a big karma / money reward).

They can, yes. These days I’m used to every released MMO to have at least a quick overview of their content plans before release, something that I haven’t seen at all from aNet. That’s part of why I’m worried. xD

This isn’t an argument against TDM, I’m all for that as an additional game mode for sPvP (along with user-created and maybe even password-protected matches and other game modes like CTF), without capture points or anything, but the point is … WoW-style arenas != TDM sPvP.
Team Deathmatch, sure thing, but the important thing is: no gear-progression. WvW aside, PvP should never be about who has the more imba-epic-r0xx0r gear. Never. Because if that was the case, then it’d not be about player skill any more.

Nowhere in the OP was gear progression mentioned. In fact, you were the first person to mention it in the entire thread.

One of the defining and most important features of sPvP is the gear normalization, everyone but you was arguing with that in mind.

*Crazy Idea* Enable *Trading Between Players* Without Using Mail System

Not that I’m against more options, I just don’t see why it’s needed with the way mail works.

I guess what I’m saying is .. if ANet implemented a “Trade with” button, it’d probably use their in-game mail system behind the scenes anyway, and it would probably just be a reskinned mail window, since that’s what mail does anyway.

The major reason behind a trading UI is to prevent scams. It would take some work to add it, but the reduction of scam reports would probably add up to money saved for them over time.

I agree, this skill tends to miss a lot. If a target isn’t moving in the first place, why would we want to root it? If it’s moving, we can’t root it…

To keep it from beginning to move.

Arenanet considers it a slur against disabled peoples. I actually used it in the original title of the thread (which is why I received an infraction). It’s a little silly, but I’m not about to argue the boundaries of potentially improper language. Perhaps it is a slur and I just don’t know it yet.

So, if I were to talk about kitten Hooves for no apparent reason, which is not meant to be offending in any way since it’s the name of the character it would still be considered so?

Yes, yes it would be. We’re 20% cooler than bronies here, we don’t make fun of disabled people.

And WoW-Style arena PvP is an absolute no-go in my opinion. You want PvP with gear progression and the ability to gank low-lvl players? Play WvW. You want arena PvP? Play sPvP, but deal with the fact that your skill is all that matters, not your gear or level. WoW arena PvP is usually demanded by players who do not have the necessary skill for sPvP and get pwned all the time, but who love to win in a fight that’s unfair and imbalanced from the very beginning. Great job, guys, really.

…What?

Seriously, what? This game has no ability to gank, and the PvP is is, with the exception of WvW (which this suggestion is not), gear normalized. If that’s your argument against TDM (Team Deathmatch, which is what WoW’s arena is) then your logic processor is broke, buddy.

mmmm I think it was Aion or so where the player could actually set up its own shop for some time. And I don’t think that was very bad idea.
It would at least solve some backdraw of the trading post. Most stuff will hardly sell there, since nobody is actually actively looking for that one specific object (and thus will never be noted).

Games that implemented these just ended up with dozens upon dozens of people AFK in the middle of congregation points with little popups over their heads.

Necromancy - why am I allowed to raise undead

snip….

This is right. Necromancers seem to be well respected, as long as they respect the dead in turn. In one of the Norn quests you work with a well respected Necromancer to fight the Sons of Svanir.

You’ll notice that you never actually raise humanoid corpses. No skeletons, no zombies. You make flesh constructs, probably made of magic themselves, and animate them through necromancy.
