I think breaking into smaller template codes would be better,

1 total overview which is pretty much just a “preview list” you could send other players , essentially

“just entered a fractal with you, here’s what i got” template so they could see exactly what their teamates are bringing to the party, and then compensate and collaborate accordingly.

2. quick trait templates.-
for example, in Arrah, if you have a particular trait setup you swap to for lupi, get out of combat, 1 click to switch to your preset lupi traits. Weapon swapping should probably still be manual because there are ALOT of variables to have in there.

the prior of these is already sometimes done via http://en.gw2skills.net/editor
but to have quick trait templates wouldn’t be too hard ( i mean there are only 60 or so per class x6 classes we’re not talking about LUDICRUS numbers)

since your primary bar is dictated by weapon you could pretty reasonably just through in traits and your utility skills and be good to go.

in my opinion what the guardian should be best at is party support via buffs and condition removal ( which it is excellent at now and needn’t be bothered with.)

The guardian’s roll should be to do damage through his/her allies. via buffs like retaliation, protection, and might, while holding some aggro and protecting the squishies. i saw someone ask for an increased speed on the hammer auto attack, that’d be nice, but noticeable change would have a lot of repercussions with traits like AH and Empowering might that may cause a bigger change than intended.

my biggest kryptonite on my support guardian build is the way a symbol build is completely shut down when rezzing an ally, and it’s a really rough choice between party protection for the many and the life of the individual. also, my guardian’s made of lead and concrete and pulls really tight aggro, but it can somehow be easily superceded by an ele in the back.

The same applies to warriors, i think warrior’s heavy armor should grant them a bigger radar blip when the aggro table gets involved. they do some of the heaviest damage and wear heavy armor, and attack mostly from melee range, the only thing that should outrank that combo is a relatively stationary heavy class dolling out constant damage.

Things like Mesmer clones, ranger pets, necro minions, and elementals seem to have extraordinary aggro powers but are made of glass so they cause aggro to constantly randomize.

Dungeon Issues Need to be Addressed.

Okay there’s alot of controversy here clearly, just from reading this thread , clearly there are people who like charging through a dungeon saying kitten you trash mobs, times is l00tz. As well as people who prefer to take their time pull every individual enemy from each mob separately and whisper it a bedtime story as you plunge some form of object into it’s failing carcass.

Personally i prefer a mix, sometimes i don’t wanna deal with the small fries and wanna go straight for the man in charge in dungeons. This is usually the case in dungeons like AC and Cof. as a warrior, why on earth WOULD i fight the spider queen attempting to run in circles around her constantly focusing on removing poison conditions, when most of my attacks rely on me being stationary, and not knocked down.

This is supposed to be a life or death dungeon, not an orderly game of badminton. If i can lure a giant spider into a corner with the supple bait of a succulent asura ear treat, i will. If you allow me to knock a boss off a cliff, I will. if you give me a skill that keeps me from being knocked down for 5 seconds, I PROMISE to use that in a hallway where getting knocked down means certain death.

There’s a simple solution here, It’s called freedom.

if you want to speed run for l00tz well good news adventures, grab 4 like minded individuals and saddle up.

if you want to employ non-meta tactics and fight the bosses on their own terms, well similarly good news adventurer, grab 4 like minded individuals and have your hayday gauging the eyeballs from every foe you encounter that you may emerge from your encounter with the bosses head on a pike and his minion’s eyeballs threaded onto fine necklaces.

why are you so insistent rather than to play your game as you desire to, to make it so that others have to play the way you want to.

sidenote regarding all the “safe spot ranging” comments isn’t that the POINT of ranged combat? that you may destroy your target OUTSIDE the immediate reach of his claws/fangs? I mean lets think about this for a moment, if there wasn’t an advantage to ranging an opponent in safety, why would anyone ever buy a rifle, bow or handgun in real life? safespot ranging is boring and slower than straight up fighting something, in exchange for safety. that’s the point of ranged weapons.

new trait system dungeon issue

I dunno a bout you guys, but i plan to abuse the ever loving tar out of this system… well it’s not abuse, they’re condoning it, if it actually lets you trait in dungeon. max vuln zerker w/ frenzy for trash mobs, then back to a normal build for bosses etc. I feel bad for all the people that worked really hard to set speed run records though, they’re about to all be be obliterated by groups with re-trait macros next to their armor swap macros.

So why are AH guardian builds...

There are definitely situations where an ah tank build outweighs the new meta zerker builds, and what I think many of you are forgetting here is that are more than 3 classes in this game, not everyone goes Mesmer, Warrior, Guardian in a perfect 20: 60: 20 ratio, in non “arian race” gaming there are a great deal of possibilities for what your teammates are and how they play, and i don’t think anyone here is really going to argue the point that a solid 5 group of max dps builds won’t complete a run faster than a mismatched group of unfamiliar players.

That said, those of us not in a top 20 guild of top level players find ourselves in different positions, and especially in dungeons like arrah and FC when not running with that master race squad some compensations need to be made.

AH offers alot of buffer room for less than ideal groups to actually complete a dungeon rather than just get angry and start rage kicking half way through. I usually run with my guild mates, in a random, whoever happens to be on and ready, mixture of all 8 classes, often ending ending up as the only heavy class present,

In this situation The AH Gardian is ( My prefernece is GS/staff) a vastly superior choice because it allows the best crowd control abilities and by no means modest damage dealing to large groups of enemies around you. This is amplified further when running with necros because minions can recieve boons as well which gives you excellent healing as well as extreme might stacking for your entire party, even though they are 50 feet behind you railing concentrated aoe into the condenced group of enemies you’ve created.

For crowd control, trash mobs, buff distribution, and keeping your party alive, ah is the unquestionably superior build when you’ve got light squishies backing you up, I have run both builds with the same party, and whatever dps i personally sacrifice going to ah, is more than made up for by the party contribution it allows via might stacking and increased crit damage (retributive armor is 7% now instead of 5%)

my current build varies based on where we’re headed, but my dungeon build is nearly always 0/0/30/30/10 or 0/15/30/20/5 alternating between knight with soldier runes, soldier with dolyak, and zerker with scholar. even though, if i do happen to get with that magical mes, guard, warrior, warrior, warrior group, then it’s zerker domination time

My point is, there isn’t one build that makes the others useless, so gear up and game on, do it all,
