This leather farm is a great idea. Making it impossible to complete map exploration in this area without heading into it, is literally the worst thing that could have been done. Unless you are a thief or can stealth/survive a ridiculous level of punishment, you will not be able to solo map exploration here (or even do it with a 5-man party).
One of my guildies used 10 res orbs to get to this PoI just so she could finish map completion. Lined walls of snipers that can one shot you? assorted champs and veterans and elites in a huge mixture? a wall of charging centaurs pushing you back constantly? Map completion should not be locked behind a material farm. I love GW2, but honestly, this feels like pretty poor map planning.
I soloed my way up to the POI as a staff zerker ele relying on reflects from Magnetic Aura coming from earth 3, rebound, and Overload Earth. There’s a huge but obscure shortcut that takes you to the end of the trail, straight into the POI. Go from the peach tree eastward. There should be a path that takes you to a mastery point. Around that area is a hill that you can climb, full of debris. This debris is a jumping puzzle type of obstacle, and upon climbing it you can run directly to the POI.
I did find that path, and it did seem a little better than the main route. I was on a viper necro, and so don’t have much in the way of reflects, and death shroud is no protection, as the snipers just wipe that out and then continue on your health in a matter of seconds. I understand it’s meant to be a group farm, but it seems a little harsh locking map complete behind it. I eventually caved after an hour and used a teleport to friend to get up there (to a mentor who parked a character there just for that purpose).
It might get easier in a few days, when the maps are less full, but it was not easy to find a map I could join even to just teleport to someone.

Loving the new map, though the story step that makes you fill a progress bar for it felt like a time sink and didn’t really bring anything to the table – particularly as there was a previous story step that had you run around the map to check on various locations.
Rest of the story was fantastic, with the exception of the reveal that Lazarus was never actually resurrected. Given what happens in the stronghold of the faithful raid wing as well as this LS, it seems almost impossible he could return – that’s pretty devastating, and feels like a cheap tactic in terms of where his story could have gone. I appreciate it made a good plot twist, but as a hardcore fan of GW1 and GW2 lore, it’s very depressing that the mursaat and Lazarus could be gone forever.
EDIT: The centaur corner at the top of the map? It’s literally hell. Fine, a leather farm was needed. but seriously? two POIs in an area that for most classes will be impossible to reach without endless deaths? one of my guildies used 10 res orbs to get the POI in the circle area up there. Not okay.

it looks like the notes got accidentally cutoff in the middle of Thief section.
i say this due to mention of buffing pistol mainhand in the commentary, and suddenly there’s no mention of HOW pistol mainhand is getting buffed…
not to mention there’s no mentions for warrior, ranger, and necro
I really hope this is true lol. It gives me some faint hope for my necro :P
At first I thought it was that, but if you do your alphabetical counting, they jumped over Ranger (which would come before Revenant) and Necro (after Mesmer). Then Warrior at the end.
It’s all guys…
Aaaaand it’s gone. You are right. RIP my hopes and dreams

I’m really hoping that this isn’t a full list of changes (sadly it probably is), because even while most of these are PvP only changes, anet seems to have forgotten there are more than 6 classes in the game…. it’s not really a very good balance patch if you don’t make any improvements/adjustments to every profession.

Also aware this is like.. a year too late to be relevant for most people, but it’d be a nice Quality of Life improvement for those of us who replay the story of HoT on other characters.
I know this has probably been suggested before, but Hearts and Minds really, really needs a button to allow us to leave the instance part way through (similar to Fractals and the “Go Back to Dessa’s Lab” button, that has a party vote involved). Due to the nature of the instance, and the reviving/respawning that happens, there’s no real way to leave the instance quickly without being forced to go back to the character selection screen, and then log back into that character.
Super Adventure Box currencies, Blood Rubies/Petrified wood, Chak Eggs, Reclaimed Plates, Blade Shards, Indigo Mushrooms & the Mushroom juice, mystic forge stones, tenebrous/shimmering crystals, agony infusions, and legendary components (IE gifts of maguuma, Gift of the fleet – anyone who explores will have a lot of these) and Legendary insights. Also, tonics? maybe? please? there’s so many in the game, and keeping them all is impossible sometimes (I bought more bank tabs just to fit them lol).
Salvage kits and ascended salvaging tools? bit of a long stretch, but I can dream. the single use ascended salvaging tools are incredibly annoying, as they don’t stack and so take a ton of space if I want to keep them.
Sorry if this is repeated stuff from earlier, but there’s a lot of suggestions here. >.<

This. I understand the difficulty – it’s supposed to be a hard puzzle. I can deal with that lol. But when you have issues like this, or what I had -it randomly forgot I hit any checkpoints and I had to restart the entire thing (as of writing this I still haven’t finished the puzzle because of this little glitch) it’s unnecessarily cruel (and rage inducing, lol).
Also, perhaps taking out some of the hostile elementals would be great. it’s incredibly annoying in an already difficult puzzle to have to fight enemies just so that you can progress. It slows everything down (and it is already hard enough, you really don’t need them).
Everything else is amazing.
The melandru statue in graven cay a;ways does the damaging effect, even when the temple is controlled by the pact, making it currently impossible to complete the exploration of this map, as there is a skill point sat under it that you cannot commune with because of the damage.
Not even the same thing at all, Mal.
You can’t buy Legendaries from vendors. There are vendors, one of which only level 40 guilds who have put in the maximum amount of mats (it’s the last thing in Restoration2) will have access to. They even put the vendors behind huge paywalls or an entire lifetime of gathering, depending on who you talk to – I like to do all my own gathering and spend real cash on gem store stuff – Anet can check this… I like to buy things. I will be doing my own gathering… I’ve started! I have 101 shovels so far (yes, I am a chest-run moocher – I only give 1 shovel per however many people are there) and haven’t been selling my incidentals – just sigils. I fully expect to be grinding mats far into gray hair if they don’t make some changes to help smaller guilds out.Again… I don’t expect people who aren’t in super small guilds to understand. There’s just too huge of a disconnect in realities between me and people like me and you and people like you. Big guild people have practically no responsibility at all – they carry sooo little weight on their shoulders… of course this all seems trivial to them.
That’s both insulting and untrue. I help lead a large guild, and it is not all no responsibility, rainbows and flowers. It requires a lot of coordination, teamwork, and communication, both to organise the guild, plan events (like guild missions, raids, and events people make themselves, like Hide and Seek) – which, if you don’t have, the whole thing falls apart rapidly – and this takes place both in and out of game.
I understand that you are frustrated by this, but that in no way justifies saying that noone in a big guild has any responsibility.
It’s wrong that they locked you out of stuff you already had access to, if that’s the case. And if it is a bug – considering the other replies about access to some upgrades being carried over, it seems like it is – I think a support ticket would be more effective than asking for compensation for the time you’ve already put into the game.
A guild hall is for a guild, not for 3 players. Also, the guild hall is not much content, it’s just a huge area with nothing in it (well with fluff in it if it’s filled with… fluff like a chair you can’t even sit on).
Besides the +% food the tavern guy gives me, and cheap transportation to the Magus Falls, I don’t need it.
The skins. The entire purpose of this game behind a wall of friends I don’t have. If it was all just a place to run around, I wouldn’t give a rat’s kitten . It’s not about buffs (though 10% xp, karma, etc is nice when you’re leveling or farming… It’s about the skins we won’t have. It’s about the principle of the thing…
Content gating can suck my butt.
Not every game and game’s content can satisfy everyone’s need, deal with it. This is an MMO and it follows mostly the guidlines of an MMO. Why can’t people accept this? I don’t like those skins actually, but yes, this is an argument.
The reason I play this game is because it wasn’t just another MMO… until now. It was different, a beautiful refuge.
Why can’t you accept that not everyone loves the guidelines of other MMO’s? I’ve played them all and am SO freaking tired of their linear progression models and requisite guilds and reputation grinds, etc… blah blah…
There are many reasons to play an MMO even when you’re a solitary soul. Just think about the total amount of time you can put into a non-MMO. Skyrim gets the most hours of any non-MMO, but most others… what? 40 hours? If you’re lucky. I put 3 years of hours (not even kidding) into Wow before I quite after Cata. I am 2406 hours into GW2. That’s over 100 full days. Clearly, I have staying power… when I have viable reasons to stay.
You are playing a game called Guild Wars 2.. and complaining about requisite guild stuff. like.. the clue is literally in the name. I’m sorry, I understand it must be frustrating – but quite simply 3 people is not what I’d call a small guild – as already stated it’s not even a party. You can’t do dungeons or raids with that few people – and those both have skins associated, and dungeons have been in since release. By your logic, that itself is wrong – and I’m sorry, but an MMO is designed around large groups of people working together (that’s why it’s Massively Multiplayer, not Miniscule). To do most things in this game, you are going to have to deal with more than 2 or 3 people at once, and to complain about this in such a manner is, quite frankly, more than a little narrow minded. As someone else suggested, you should increase the size of your guild. Even just to say, 20 people. It’d take a while, but you’d still be able to get some of the content you feel you have been so unjustly locked out of.
I looked at the Dev Tracker, and from what I gather the “Map Completion” bug that they fixed was something completely different – it was about this instead: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/HoT-maps-reset-on-me/first
I can understand there being bugs with the game – with an expansion to an MMO it’s all but guaranteed – but total lack of a response for this issue? Especially as it seems isolated to those who have 100% completion, and have supported GW2 for a while? How is that any way to treat customers? It’s like the pre-order situation all over again.
I’ve had this map completion issue for over a week. I understand a fix will take time. But really, they should at least acknowledge the players who have the issue, instead of ignoring us, because it feels like Anet just wants the issue to quietly disappear.
