On the good side of things at least we met some new people.
Gave me time to finish working on my GW2Bot 5000, it has increased bot anti-detection. Improved AI, it now hooks up to Google Maps to find itself around, with the new chrome plated vaseline dispenser for those “Special Moments” such as these.
It has dual sound emitters, that goes “Nah, nah, na nah na” as it passes the NCSoft Bot police.It new feature will include a virtual dancing baby mod , and a mini game called Kitten kickers where you get to make field goals using the char heads.
Hahaha, for sure I wouldn’t be as calm as I am right now if I hadn’t met a few nice people like yourself on this thread. Let keep on hoping that this situation will be fixed soon.

Tomorrow at the bank this is definitely going to come up in conversation with the other teams.
Have have to log in and show them some of this. And people say Banks Customer Service is bad.
Our customer service reps would have been fired long ago. And we all would be working 24/7 until the issue was fixed.
BTW Lady Freeze is getting lots of laughs on WoW right now.

Nice lady on the phone, But she kept saying there was nothing wrong and support was working on it. I advised her that it may be who of her to contact Public relation or someone form support to swing buy and at least let people know we exist and they are working on it.

This makes me appreciate WoW customer support – at least I can call and talk to some one after waiting on hold for 2 hours!
I really really really wanna call Anet support service or whatever customer service!!
But, they don’t have one.NCSoft has a customer service line. I called them yesterday they were actually pretty helpful, no waiting time either.
Please share that number,

So I am feeling my anger overwhelm me here, and that is never a good thing.
So everyone who is having these. What other games you play? It is time to start looking at a new game, I have d3, sc2, but I can reactivate my wow, starwars, and eve accounts.
But have no problem buying a new game if we can get a following.
I could jump into GW1 but I am so mad at NCSoft I do not want to even think about that one..Anyways If yall are up for it we can form a NCSoft Botters guild somewhere.

Regarding a new game….Star Wars becomes F2P on the 15th….hopefully I’ll have account back by then if not then that will mean I will miss the Lost Shore update and probably quit and try Star Wars out.

In other news I hate to admit it but LadyFreeze (My Wife) was right I should not have cancelled Wow for GW2. But SHHHH do not let her know She was right.

Lord Freeze – Former D3 player here (Monk & Demon Hunter). I left it in favour of GW2 and because it was getting rather repetitive and boring, but at the rate this is all going, I’m scared to death that I’ll never have my account again and will be forced back into Diabloland. I’ve only played five minutes of WoW in my life, but I might have to start and join your “NCSoft Botters Guild”…
I have a demon hunter and witch Doctor
We can also play Wow up to level 20 for free. Otherwise I need to go out and get MOP
Fps are good too. BF1942 is free today, and there is a space sim Wing Commander out there

I am thinking that if these issues are still recurring this upcoming weekend, with still little or no explanation from NCSoft, that it is my duty to notify the Gaming community at large. I do not think that we should allow new players to play a game without first knowing the serious issue in the game and the total lack of caring or responsiveness from NCSoft Management / Customer Relations .
All most people are asking for is a bit of updates.
If we have more then 20 customers who are affected by an issue our Cusotmer Outreach team is posting on twitter, facebook, and emails about the issue and the estimated time to resolution. They post updates every 45 minutes untill the issue is resolved.
I have been on sev 1 issues for 36 hours straight before where we have over 200 people on communication bridges everyone from network teams, to developers, to c level people.
I have offered my services multiple times, my phone number, and addresses to help with this issue only to hear the crickets singing.
So I am asking again NCSoft what can we do to help out?
and please do not say “Just be patient” cause that is not doing anything that is doing nothing, and just causes more frustration.

I think it is extremely funny that while they are having issue and unjustly banning people, that they say “Hey invite your friends”, I think it should read " Come invite your friends , come see if we can ban them also and make them FORMER friends."
I have actually done the opposite. I let one friend in New York who was going to buy as soon as the Mac client was out of beta, and another friend who was going to buy this Thanksgiving break, know what is going on.
It is not that it is a bad game, but if you have an issue the NCSoft customer service is terrible and there is NO way to talk to someone.
As I stated earlier I work as a developer for a very large Bank, I work on the online banking applications.
This is like removing access to our customers online account and then not letting them call us, or come into the branch to access their money.
A truly frustrating Issue.

I’m more curious as to how those people behind these wave of bans came to the conclusion that all these people were “botting.”
Pretty sad if it’s a simple PM.
PM? not even that in my case. No warning as to why or how….it just happened as I was playing in Cursed Shore gathering Ori.
My wife and I were afk at a vista in Harathi Highlands while we tended to our sick daughter, We came back about 30 minutes later and we were both banned.

It was more than likely 1 person or trainee that saw a bot and thought cool I get to ban a bot, and then not knowing the system well enough banned alot of people.
Or a more cynical look, or conspiracy theory is that GW2 is not making as much money as they would like so they decided to take long time players and ban them thinking they will go out an purchase another copy.
I have talked to Gaile Gray in the past and the Frog and they seem like nice peopel, I even played with a few devs back in the old GW1 days on my monk and everyone seemed like nice down to earth people. So I am pretty sure they are not purposely banning known humans, However it is a bit surprising that NCSoft has shut down the communication.
While I can understand that trying to hide a system / billing issue, At least they could do is let people know that they are trying to fix it.
I think the billing system will be the first fix because it is what brings in NEW money and affect a wider cut of the people (Gems, and new accounts).
And it makes perfect business sense to fix that first.. But hey atleast let people know that is the plan. if there is even a plan.

Having read Gaile’s message she states that it is NOT a automated sytstem.
If that is truly the case then the person who is doing all the BAD banning should be fired, or at the least have to answer the phone and explain and prove why he/she banned legitimate players.

Well do not try calling NCSOFT support (512) 225-6359 – it goes to a voicemail account for refunds only. I think it is really really bad that a company has to remove all tech support numbers but has one dedicated to refunds.

After over 24 hours to calm down,
And reading thru all these posts I think there may be 2 separate and non exclusive issues going on.
Issues
1) I think Anet may have an issue with billing and or their credit card vendor.
From reading the issues and looking at knowingly small sample of the issue, I would first lean towards an issue with the Transmission of the credit card information to the vendor. Usually this is a data format issue or strictly a vendor issue. Also As one poster mentioned, if a transaction is not completed in a set amount of time the pending amount will fall off. This happens alot when the older vendors use the old paper copy of the card. (I could go into detail of how a credit card transaction works if anyone is truly interested).
2) People who are getting accused of botting for being in the wrong area of a map at the wrong time. This to me seems like a botting detection algorithm issue. If I was to guess It is probably something like (If character X has gained x amount of exp in a a “y” amount of time, and traveled less than x amount of area in an “y” amount of time, and where there are x amount of with the same IP then it is likely a bot = BAN). I am sure that the conditions are different however I think the whole thinking that way is the wrong approach.
I would think a more precise detection would be to look at the the character name (Most of the bots I have seen have some dumb 5 – 6 character garbage as a name), then to look at the gear does the gear have a mix of levels and such. Does the character have skills assigned and based on the logginig how long since the last level was attained. Does this fit into this characters play style (Takes into effect whether the player is hard core or a casual. For instance My wife and I have had this game since a week after it was released and we still do not have a level 80 character.) are there other characters on this account, are there large amounts of transfers to other accounts from this character. and finally look at the bank, and the inventory are there things that would be there such as food made or runes and such.
I think the current algorithm is totally wrong and definitely needs fixed.
If any anet person would like to talk about this please feel free to contact me, I will be more than happy to send my number, or set up a skype or other communications.
PS
If it would help to PROVE my innocence that I have NEVER botted I will be more than happy to ship you my Laptop so yall can scour my machine for what YOU think is a BOT

My wife and I got hit with the Ban Hammer this evening while we had to go AFK to take care of a sick child.
What is truly truly amazing is that our characters were standing still at a vista when this happened. It was not like we were camping a spawn point, or anything. we were sitting still while our daughter was sick.
Another amazing thing is that We have played GW since the early release of GW1, and have never had an issue.
I think is is really a bad algorithm that ANet is using to ban accounts. As a developer for a top 10 U.S. Bank mainly on there online banking application, I do know a few things about fraud detection and prevention. And let me tell you if we used the seemingly same algorithm that ANet is issuing we would be hit hard by the Treasury Department.
I also find it hard that it is not an automated process because it happened at 7:30 EST on a Saturday, and even after tickets it is not responded to, and no answer on the support line since it is closed until Monday morning. So if this not an automated process then the people who are banning need to be better trained on detection, and possible ask someone before they just blindly ban people without proof.
So can someone please explain to me the reasoning behind apparent random banning.
In my ticket I have attached my phone numbers where I may be contacted and am requesting a phone call from a knowledgeable person on this issue.
