Maybe you could think of it this way: There was no jumping (other than an emote) in the previous game. So, we should have to pay for that. Instead, we got it free, but to make up for that free feature, we will pay for Guild Halls. Seems fair. =)
So doctors should take away medication from patients and then three years later give them a lollipop and say “Hey, you didn’t have a lollipop before! Oh and we will sell you the medication you use to get for free at a premium!”. Because essentially they took a free feature to sell at a premium three years later and giving us minor features in return.
Thank you for being respectful in your reply.
It is a great game that you are missing out on because of one feature. I find that to be very silly.
That feature was a very large part of GvG, my favorite part of the game. It was also one of the more pronounced things that made Guild Wars very unique in a highly cluttered genre of games.
Thank you for being respectful in your reply.
Anet should release new game called “Guild Halls” just for this guy…….since he dont care about anything rest.
Never once did I say I didn’t care about the rest, after all I did play for months before I left. Guild Halls were a major feature that made the game unique and fun for both myself and my friends. They helped emphasize the whole “Guild Wars” part of Guild Wars.
Like you said, it’s your opinion. Developers must have had their reasons not to have it up front, and the game survived just fine. Your opinion was either a minority or of not enough weight to make nothers avoid the game.
Be happy it’s coming now. A feature in a game shouldn’t cause you that much frustration, feeling abhorred or angry.
It’s true that I may be in the minority or my issue may not have had enough weight to make others avoid the game.
However, the fact that they will be charging people for something they offered for free in a previous game still stands. Yes I realize that the expansion pays for the extra work required to implement guild halls and stronghold pvp, but it is my opinion that this work should have been done in the first place as it was a major feature in the first guild wars.
Thank you for being respectful in your reply.
I felt that I needed to come on these forums to share my frustration about GW 2 and the reason that caused me to leave the game three years ago.
I grew up playing the first guild wars and had a blast. My most favorite feature were the guild halls. The fact that you could own a hall, upgrade it and then defend it was amazing to me.
When I found out that GW 2 was coming I was ecstatic and pre-ordered it as soon as I was able to. To my disappointment when I got into GW 2 I found out that there were no guild halls. I searched out information on this and found out that it was a feature that would be coming. I continued waiting for, what was to me, the essence of the guild part of guild wars (It is my opinion that a guild without a home to call there own is but a roaming band of mercenaries). I and my fellow guild members waited months and still there were no guild halls so we packed up our copies of GW2 and moved on to other games.
Finally, three years after release, I find out that they will be coming.
I was angry that it took this long to finally add something that was a staple of the original GW game. I am abhorred that it is being sold as a major feature of a new expansion pack. We now have to pay more money for a feature that (in my opinion) should have been included in the base game (as it was in the first GW) from the very beginning.
I don’t honestly know if I will come back to GW2 for the expansion or not but I needed to share this frustration with both the community and ArenaNet staff.
I thank you for taking the time to read my rant.
